    I bought an 01 xterra about a year ago. I have a small lift and run a 33x10.50 tire It blows my mind where I can go with this rig. Future plans include long travel suspension upgrades and supercharger. My goal with mine is full pre runner. Thanks for the video the first gen xterra in my opinion is one of the best factory built off roaders.

      With the solid axle swap it is a calmini belly skid and Shrockworks gas tank skid. Shrockworks is out of business so we believe the only IFS skids left are from Skid Row.

    • @RogueOverland
      @RogueOverland  Před 5 lety +2

      That is definitely an option to get a solid bump in power. The only other way to get more "real" power is to do the engine work as done on this build. It you are looking for a small bump you could regear the differentials; it will make the power you have more usable.

    How much lift in the back? How is that accomplished? Just through the alcans or longer shackles? How much?
    Why not swapping the axle above the leaf springs if that is doable?

    • @RogueOverland
      @RogueOverland  Před 4 lety +1

      It works out to be 5-ish inches of lift. Alcan springs and a longer shackle. Spring under axle is stronger than spring over. We started with spring over and the axle wrap torched a leaf pack. If you are wheeling really aggressively then either set up would work. Thank for watching!

    • @ethanwilson9008
      @ethanwilson9008 Před 3 lety +1

      You can do a very cheap solid axle swap if you have the means. I did an SAS on my 3rd gen 4runner for about $600. I believe the Xterra already has a steering gear too. Anyway, $100 d44, used the rear leaf springs out of a 1st gen Tacoma I had laying around, and then just used scrap steel for all the mounts and cross members and whatnot. Used the steering gear out of a junkyard 2nd gen 4runner, spliced the factory driveshaft and 2nd gen driveshaft, and then welded the 2nd gen drag link to the jeep drag link. F250 shocks work great and are about $32 at Napa, over 13 inches of travel. All in all it cost me about $600, but took me 3-4 weeks or so versus a weekend that a kit takes. I also had help from someone really experienced. But it can be done quite cheaply!
