- Rocket League's META is continuing to change every year so it's about time we talk about the Rocket League mechanics you can expect to see more of at the pro level in 2024. Rocket League's skill ceiling has still not been met so new mechanics are still being utilized and perfected. These are 5 mechanics that will become the META in 2024.
Special thanks to Virge, Mizu, Durtho, PRSTN, and Wuzy for helping me brainstorm ideas to talk about in this video!

The RLCS continues to look different every single year. With the new format and players still improving all the time, it's time to talk about the mechanics that will be used more this year. If you want to get ahead of the curve, you can even try learning these Rocket League mechanics for yourself. If you have different predictions for this 2024 I'd love to hear those as well!

It's wild to me how crazy new mechs are getting nowadays. Let's hope that continues since it's one of the only things this game has left.
EPIC will ban mechanics also going further. Each mechanic/jump will cost credits. Surely that is where its going
@@Jkay400xjesus christ I hope not, that would mean they have access to the game code
this shit just gonna be rocket racing - car soccer, an extra game mode, IN a bit 😂😂
You think epic doesn't have access to the game code? they literally own the game@@yurilopes420
Epic needs to add goal explosions to toilets
Yeah, rocket league really is an independent game, it almost doesn't need updates since the skill ceiling will never be reached. I think the things EPIC is doing to the game are atrocious, indeed, but maybe overstated, since I don't think they'll listen to us. We should all be focusing on keeping the game alive and then maybe EPIC will see we're still interested in the game and then maybe they'll listen
Wayton is like the Rocket League wikipedia page
what 💀
wayton doesnt know the difference between a pogo and a plan b
@@TheOhWulfbro stop it. I’m sick of hearing this. A plan b is a type of pogo. The mechanic is still a pogo. Pogo is the category and plan b is a subcategory. Get it? Please spread the word
@@calicolombiano27 a pogo relies on a bounce from the car itself, which is why its called a “pogo” Plan b does not, the shot is in the landing. You’re not trying to pogo, Youre aiming the car to put the ball in a specific spot. The ball landing on you at the same time you land makes it impossible to bounce with the car, due to too much downward force from the ball. A plan b is without the entire pogo part and it’s still a pogo in your mind? Lol wut?
Waytonpedia or Wikipilkin?
Its crazy how many of these mechanics are popping up bc of Zen alone. Before Zen nobody was expexting constant psychos. He took moves that seemed inconsistent and made them consistent which is what made him one of the best players and now everyone else is following.
??
dark is up there too, despite not being at rlcs level he innovated pogos and dashes
you mean dark right?
Dark*
No i dont mean Dark. Dark was doing pogos mostly in 1v1s. Zen was the one really showing off these abilities in RLCS levels proving them to be reliable even on the pro scene.
Dark is known for his pogos and freestyles but i wouldn't say hes the reason they became popular for pros and tbh i havent seen Dark play in big tournaments against pro level players like Zen has.
The fact that Alpha54 has been doing ceiling shots like that for literal years and other pros are only starting to do it now is kinda crazy
6:51 this hook shot was also a perfectly accurate speed flip
Speedflips are the same as diagonal flip, only difference is speedflip faster when you boost
Very good collection of mechanics, agree on all of them. I'd say that the recently discovered Luther flick will also become the meta once pros realise how versitile and useful it is. Being able to pinch a rolling ball to over 110kph+ consistently while also giving it a noticable change in direction is very powerful as well as unexpected. I hope there will be a pro that learns to do it consistently :)
amalix jump :0 hiiiiiii
I’m sorry but I can’t think of a single useful scenario for the Luther flick pinch thing

ya same, but i could see summo flick working@@WhiteVipor
this is self promotion LOL
Always a great video from Wayton. I wish we could have 1 or 2 a week but I know they are hard to make and take time to edit. The quality is always so good we all just wish there could be more Wayton to watch.
Well put video, and these short clips that illustrate the shot are really good. Thank you!
5:28 I do this dash every day when I open the game, and I remember seeing AppJack doing it as a celebration after a goal, so I always called it the App Dash, but I guess he might not be the first player to do it. I love it so much, it looks clean af
First time i saw it was by trk
@@CesarGomez-kp5lm first time i saw it was by rw9
I thought its official name was the Mawkzy recovery.
@@gnashr4366i’ve always called it a “flip”
s no official name its just a thing high ranked players do
Perfect video wayton, love how much zen has pushed the boundaries forward
Always enjoyed this content! My defense is insane because I see and know when my opponents are going for these plays on me! Hard for me to learn thos wall dashes and certain mechanical plays. But knowing what other people can do to you is clutch for perfect counters
Watching this on the day of the EU RLCS and what you know Joyo hits a sidewall. Love the content keep it up!
the way you produce this videos is on such a high level. the visuals, editing, not even 1 word is too much. amazing.
Love your videos man, thanks!
The legend is back, with a banger video. Love it!❤❤
babe wake up wayton uploaded
Amazing video great editing
Great picks, I can definitely see a lot of this being utilized more this year :D My favourite mech of all has to be the pogo. Its so delicate!
amazing video--really great breakdowns and your skill is impressive to recreate them later
Wayton is shaping the META
I always love this videos because its super interesting, but what's funny is all of these mechs have been used by mechs for freestylers for years. Pros really need to start looking at freestylers for new metas because they come up with such useful mehcs.
Excellent video, thank you very much!
Wayton, i'm a caster from SAM and yes i do believe Dark-like movement is the future because he almost seems to cover for a 4th player sometimes... the increased saving potential and demo chances is massive. I myself highlighted that fact a bunch of times on our last broadcast and it's cool that people are noticing too and that you are creating awareness on these mechanics
You skills with edits and these vids in general are really exceptional. It never ceases to amaze me every time I click one of your videos.
This is Rocket League video masterclass
Love all the META In videos Wayton! Keep rocketing!
Great vid Wayby
finally!!! your vids are like movies!
Dark also is using a specific "dash" move to sort of powerslide cut but with a unexpected increase of speed. Commonly used to challenge faster then expected.
bro forgot the bismillah flick
The بسم الله flick
Bismillah flick imo looks like it would be extremely inconsistent for anybody who isnt SSL
I've been looking forward to this exact video.
Banger video wayton, you love to see it
lets goo another wayton video
Great vid. Keep making these when it makes sense to.
Fantastic video!
Hey Wayton, your RL-Videos are the best out there. Greetings from germany.
these videos slma every year, hope mayn more will come!
Good choice of clips. Even got zen's first ceiling pinch in a tournament which I couldn't find again
W vid really needed this
Joyo had a nasty sidewall double earlier today in the qualifiers. So satisfying.
This is honestly a really, really amazing series of videos! I love them all! If nothing else, it creates a catalog of the most notable mechanics that are up and coming, but it's so much more than that. These videos are really works of art with how much detail and work that goes into them. I'm a stickler for details, and these videos go into a perfect amount of detail. And while it is going into these details, they're your works of art. The added flair you add on to the video through editing, camera angles, and pacing is just top notch! I think this is your best one yet!
P.S. I know I'm generally quite critical of posts, videos, and content in general, and I don't mean to come off as abrasive. But, leaving that alone, you deserve a lot of praise for what you do! You contribute so much to the community positively.
great gameplay clips to show examples
Atomic and MajicBear are zooming around the field with those dash combos. It's insane.
Another great vid. Appreciate you. Rocket League rocks.
Great video
I few days ago I was playing ranked with my friends (we are both gold) and I hit a crazy phyco straight into there net, not even knowing what it was at the time
This is wicked as someone who has followed the scene between 2015-2021 lmao. Glad I had this recommended, I was intrigued.
nice video! all of these new mechs are so accurate lmao
Hey Wayton! What's your goal explosion?
Those pogos with the ball on top have been done by the freestyling Community for quite some time now, they called them Plan B, while a pogo on its own is/was just done without the ball. I think its generally impressive to see mechanics that have been used by freestylers for years, are now used in way faster pro lobbys. Same thing for ceiling pinch doubles, sidewalls and psychos.
yeah people have finally started to see how useful and powerful some of those freestyle moves can be at high level
god damn what a clean video
I don't watch other people play so I'm suprised I'm already practicing a few of these. Wave n wall dashes I've been practicing (recently got the gamesir G7 SE and the over clocking feature makes it feels so damn good ). Ceiling shots I recently started practicing the air dribble tip will help a lot
Ceiling chain dashing possible?
Hi walton what do you think about post pinches does that gonna be a good meta in the future?
Your videos are so good
im so exited everytime a new one comes out!
it helps very good thx
I did NOT expect to see boise Idaho on the list at the beginning. Very cool
I'm a bit disappointed that you don't show some clips of Mawkzy, because I think he is the best with ceiling setup or dash combo, he is a good exemple. Great video
Last 2 years Wayton has been bang on so any aspiring pros need to study this video hard
I've been slowly trying to employment all these myself. Nice vid❤
wayton cooked with this video, its fire
this video is so well made
so cool seeing techniques i learned like.. 6 years ago as a Champ player and such now be mastered to the point of being relevant in pro play. I used to LOVE goign for Skims because they were so rarely used and seen that they were never expected.
I remember when I first started playing and some wanna be Smurf would do a half ass aerial. I was in awe. All these years later and I'm still in awe of half the stuff squishy could do. This stuff is beyond my comprehension.
Sincerely, Forever Diamond 💎
i love these vids😁
waytons videos never disappoint
I'm so glad to see pogos being implemented. I learned pogos from busting my ass against the ground and wall and I kept it in my arsenal. Just seeing this up here feels dope.
The man, the myth, the legend, WAYTOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have something to say, some pogos are actually a mechanics called plan b, a plan b is basically a pogo but u pogo when the balls on top of the car, this can be used offensively to go in the net,or to continue a play or a freestyle shot when u need a recorvery.
Dont forget the double tap with the ceiling shot to setup a flip reset or a double tap off the backboard. Its close to the ceiling pinch double tap
freestylers have been doing like psychos and sidewalls for years already so thats really cool to finally see those moves at pro level and being really useful
Skims get so much power because of the way RL fudges physics; the greater the difference in velocity between the car and the ball the harder the ball will be hit. This makes things like volleys and powershots feel really good, but enter these skims. The ball and the car are going in opposite directions so the difference in velocity is huge, resulting is a ridiculously fast shot. Rocket Science has a video on it from way back when I think.
I can only pogo consistently on the spoiler, I can’t grasp the idea of hitting the front end.
I also feel like the spoiler makes more sense so you can boost back up towards the ceiling, With the front you have to flip your car back upwards again to get back up.
This video is amazing!! I played you in 1v1's earlier today and tried my best to make an edit for you ggs man !
Everyone of those seems extremely possible and plausible. GG Wayton
Bro is so underrated as a CZcamsr You should get so much more Followers! 🎉
talking about dash combos is was decent with them but i used at the time a macro for my drift seeing how people can pull this off without it is crazy
Hi just a question, I'm just curious to see how the flip onto the wall is preformed. Thanks in advance
i knew i had played with you the other day and then I end up watching this video and im in it lmao
Never knew I could do all the mechanics in these types of videos one day
8:27 Crazy recovery idea, i know this is after a goal explosion, but as he gets sent back to the wall instead of trying to turn your car around to get back to your net, you chain dash while going backwards. I wonder it thats possible, ive never seen anyone do it, or even try it
Yes it is possible. Watch a jzr stream someday, he loves doing that kind of stuff.
I've tried to do it for fun, I can stick to wall but I don't feel like I'm picking up speed properly
incredible video
Another year of unexpected growth, onto the next one!
really cool video
Meta of wayton 2024
Dark’s gameplay is literally the epitome of octane from apex.
I’ve been using skims for almost 2 years now and they are so useful and unexpected I am so excited for them to be used more in game
Still the new way of doing the ceiling shot can already be easily defended if done correctly basically first man forces de preflip the second waits con backboard and goes for the ball as soon as it the preflip happens, so obviusly this made the ceiling shot more difficult to stop by yourself but still not the greatest when defense has back-up.
I've seen the flip at 5.28 referred to as the mawkzy recovery, at least in a video a year ago from someone called NightRyder, but it doesn't seem to really have a name as the video says.
TAS took dash combos to a whole different level
Dark's gameplay is just impressive. Doing any of them individually is hard if you wanna keep momentum, but doing 3 of them in a row, thats hard.
It really is amazing to me how much is possible just because players have gotten better.
No way wayton uploaded a banger again
I just started playing rocket league and I can’t even believe how good some of you guys are but I’ve been practicing and the game has finally clicked with me ❤
felt like the last video of this series was like yersteday
Wayton, I have discovered a new way to use a mechanic. If you speed flip into a controlled flick, and zap dash up to hit the ball with power, you can beat two defenders with little to no boost. I hope you can try this out, thank you for your time if you have read this. Keep up the good work 👍
I use that unnamed dash all the time, I call it crash dashing ( im refering to the dash at 5:30)
If I take anything from this video is that ZEN is truly pushing the boundaries. Crazy how amazing he is at just young age. ROCKET LEAGUE is really slept on... in just 2 years the competitive scene has evolved so much it is insane!
dash mechanics remind me of “young” derrick rose, deadly quick! so much fun to watch!
I’m d2 rn and I get pogos like 50% of the time and I feel like it’s a rly good way to score goals in comp👍
10:00 i used to do that exact thing in sideswipe a year ago no way
Me too
