  • In summer, the gannet's main food source of sardines live far out to sea. This means the birds must dive for their food, but even one small miscalculation could prove fatal.

Exactly what I was just thinking. I was marveling at these birds' underwater abilities that I was completely unaware of until today, so I looked up some videos. This shit always happens, though. That's why I'm not into a bunch of animal stuff. I was good just seeing the birds underwater.

What a supreme in terms of flying in and out of water, & adding to that, their ability to Dive!!! Wow! What an amazing example of the complexities of Birds

  • @EverythingAndAnythingGoes24

Me:sees how gracefully the gannets are diving. Wishes I could dive like they do.
Sees how hard they hit the water at 100km an HR: Wonder how much that would hurt?
Narrator: The slightest miscalculation could prove fatal.
Me: Actually nevermind. I'll leave the 100km an HR diving to the expert gannets.

Much respect for those birds of prey aquatic version, their wings allow them to torpedo motion into water, then all them to swing and bead off water when they come up to surface with 2-3 layers of derivative feathers, not even speaking about how long they can hold there breath and open their mouths and snap up a fish without water going down there big throats for beautiful similarity in muscle memory and ergonomics.
True true master in the air and seas

@@warpath77 Yes they do unfortunately - piercing bills, wing damage- underneath the white water is crazy, scary and thrilling to be in - NOT recommended, the sharks are around and getting hit from a Morus could easily be fatal to a human. It doesn't often happen, not sure why, but very few injure each other. An utterly incredible bird, that can swim :)
