When desserts are the highlight of your meal that means they don’t care about quality. Nickel and dime mentality will only sour the cruise experience. Never heard of “premium”bed option. Thanks for taking one for the team. Thankfully this was a free cruise.
All baked desserts are made off ship, flash frozen and then loaded before departure. That's why they are good. If you are doing Carnival next, you are going to see a complete change in food, comfort, etc..

Danny my man...thanks for this series of content on your MSC cruise. After doing a Carnival cruise myself last winter, my advice here is that everyone needs to level set their expectations for the food on cruises. It's more about quantity, indulgence, and late-night eats and less about quality and taste. And yes I've paid and tried out the upgrade meal services for $$$. Certainly NOT WORTH it.
While you might not find chicken parmesan in Italy, you will find eggplant parmesan. Most cruisers rate the food on MSC to be better than Costa. I like Danny's cruise food reviews. Would like to see him do Holland America or Virgin Voyages.
I kept a hotel key from one of the hotels I stayed at and used that for the cruise.

MSC Cruise we took last year was good in fact we are taking another MSC Cruise this year no cruise is perfect We really enjoyed MSC Cruise put your phone on airplane mode on the ship or it can be costly we have been cruising since 1987 Regency cruises ( Regent Sea Regent Sun) MSC Cruises is a good cruise lest costly enjoyable.
Order that at Skipolini's the next time you're on the west coast and don't look back -- it won't be free, but it will be good.

Really enjoyed watching this series of videos on your cruising experience. I liked your very honest opinions on the bed, food and service. I will not make the mistake of booking a cruise on MSC as I would expect much better quality for my money.

MSC maybe the Italian cruise company, but none of their kitchen chefs are Italian. So, I wouldn’t expect too much authentic Italian dishes on board. 😮

Danny you need to go to Italy one day. All pasta comes with sauce mixed in as they make your order ine at a time. Chicken parmigiana is italian American
The Italians DO have a term for that pasta: "overcooked." You should look into a "free" cruise on Princess or Holland America - if you have Gold MGM status or higher, you should be able to get those. I think you'd like them better. The beds on my recent Princess cruises are some of the best I've slept on (pillows were problematic, but not deal-breakers) and the food was great more often than it was awful.
Oh, and I've learned to ALWAYS take the server's advice if they tell me something isn't great. Unlike a regular restaurant, they have no reason to push something on you, and a few times they've let me try the "bad" entree on the side, and every time I was glad I didn't stubbornly order it anyway.

i saw a couple of shows, but out of boredom. I am not a shows kinda guy. I just mostly ate and slept, walked around alot, thankfully I had a purpose to my trip (videos) and the editing gave me something to do..
DTM if I was on that cruise I would had to take that cruise to court for starvation. Everything looks like frozen meals including the kosher meal looked like Stouffer's. I'm glad you tried it and interviewed the cruise veteran so I could cross this one off my bucket list. I don't know how you lasted 9 days. I would have threw in the towel after 1-2 days. I guess since your from New York you can stomach just about anything 😂
it really helps that it was FREE.
At least desserts were good, just like at the Vegas buffets. Maybe it was the same trainer that trained the Vegas cooks.

Danny my MSC Cruise is next month and I'm hoping the food is better by then. As far as spaghetti goes with sauce on it, the proper way to do it is the way you got it already all sauced. Pouring sauce on top and leaving some dry is NOT!!
Danny, The way the lights work is how it is done in Europe in all hotels. We just leave a CC in the slot and bring the key card with us at all times.

Hi DTM! Yuck to the food you’ve been eating on that Italian Cruise Ship! Tell ya’ if this sort of food was served to Italians in Italy ??? There certainly would have been a mutiny on board by the passengers. The Executive Chef would be thrown off the ship! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 10 days on board that ship am sure you’ve got major cabin fever! I have been to Italy and the chicken parm is a lot better than on board ship. I really enjoyed this series of sailing onboard the MSC Meraviglia. I'm eager to find out the total cost of your "free" cruise.

You're a trooper, because I couldn't fathom paying to sleep uncomfortably for 10 days straight-nor for free. Maybe it's a conspiracy to get passengers to use their spa services for a massage. Hopefully your March cruise will be a much better experience for rest and food options.
"Battista's Hole in the Wall" right behind the Flamingo has really good food, including their various parmigiana options. They are very affordable and their entrees include extras (soup, salad, wine, bread, etc).
Danny I've never heard a positive review of MSC food, overall. Some venues have been well rated. They were kind of stingy with the sauce. Is chicken katsu with cheese? And, btw, it's Mara-vee-lee-uh.
I was just thinking Danny there might not be very many Italian people working in that ship's kitchens. I wonder?

I would say you would be very, very hard pressed to find a single place in Italy that would serve chicken parm, since it's an American-Italian invention. Other than possibly American-Italian chains that may (may) be in Italy that serve chicken parm like in the US. Eggplant parm is sure a thing in Italy, which is the origination of the parmesan dish I believe.
MSC is well known to have the worst food of all the cruise lines.

Hey, Danny! Motel 6 has the slogan about leaving the lights on for you. In this video, you suspect institutionalized chicken. The kitchens are cooking for THOUSANDS of people. I think that should confirm your thought. Maybe next time, try the entree with the condiments/sauces/extra's that comes with them. You never (on camera) used any of the cheese that the server offered you and you put that "on a side dish" BUT NEVER USED it. Maybe that was some awesome Grana Padano cheese that would have elevated your entree to another level (YUM)! Your cruise was free. Your room was free. You could have drank a few thousand dollars of pro bono booze. I always give you the "thumbs up" Danny and I enjoy your videos. But, today it was difficult for me to do that. You were just "off" in this video, no offence but you were a bit of an a55hole! I'm looking forward to the next video where you'll be a bit more positive and HAPPY! Cheers!

I been told sometimes that my videos that are not positive and happy are hard to watch, but that is how the video ends up, I dont pre-plan these things and there is no script. your candor is appreciated.
People from the US know how everything should be cooked and how it should taste. Don't advertise you are an Italian cruise ship because people will be expecting "Fantastic Food." I agree the sauce is too light. And yes there should be on the cutlet unless you request it not be.

That is the weakest looking sauce I've ever seen on chicken parm (Chef Boyardee style) and they didn't flatten the chicken breast.
Sounds like they need to give each passenger a pamphlet on how to get the most out of your cruise will a bunch of tips. No one should ever take more than a military shower (i.e. 5 minutes).
