  • In this episode I am building a work bench with under top tool boxes and lots of storage.
    I am using the Harbor Freight / US General 42" Tool Boxes and a butcher block top from Home Depot to make a 15' long one piece work station.

    Ended up here because I had the idea to build almost the exact same bench, just with a pair of harbor freight tool cabinets as pedestals with a maple bowling lane for a bench top… and the whole bench on castors… then I ended up looking through 6 years of videos trying to figure out where you got the shop stool!

      Ha, I don’t think I even know where that came from at this point. Probably Amazon - thanks for visiting!

    I just picked up a can of WD 40 white lithium spray lubricant. sprayed on the bearing slides is a night and day difference. I will do every single drawer. Amazing ...I really like my us general even more now

    i believe instead of cutting that high $ nice bentch top would to fit the contours of the wall, i think i would put a piece of 1"x1/4" thick angle iron screwed to wall and put wall anchor screw to pull all bows out so it was a nice flat wall, tube frame would be 1 inch shorter in width but the bench top would still set on top of 1" angle steel and a line of caulking and nothing falls between wood and angle iron..

      Great idea. I don’t think you would straighten the wall at all, but that would be a nice edging and very easy to chalk. Thanks for the idea!

      Thanks for the info, sometimes it’s hard to keep the microphone levels even with so much background noise. Thanks for watching!

    Smooth looking finished product! I'd like to do something similar. How did you join the slabs together? Thanks!

      They are just pushed tight together and glued. Ideally I would have been able to cut slots in it and use the clamps like used by counter top installers, but I didn’t even try. It has been just fine, so far.

    Can I ask how high off the floor did the bench turn out to real nice build by the way

      I believe my top is at 37”. I really like the look and I use it nearly every day.

    How high is the whole bench???

    • @AllisonCustoms
      @AllisonCustoms  Před 3 měsíci

      It’s right around 38” to the top. Perfect height for me when standing or using a stool.
