Not accurate.
The C Word wasn't used at all by Lucas.
Yes very not accurate what so ever Iâve heard no C word at all
@@joshpevitt9105 what is c word stand for?

@@strikerecho2592 In Australia, its used around like how habibi or cuz is in Arabic.
See You Next Tuesday.
Common tounge of every Australian, can be used in every context. Good, bad and general banter.
As an Aussie I love that my country is getting more attention in videogames, I also love the inclusion of the rats of Tobruk and the Owen gun
Fucking oath mate!!
To be fair though they changed the name and nationality of the real man who this character is based on, Charles Upham, who was a kiwi war hero that was awarded the VC (Victoria Cross) not once but twice during the war. It's a bit disrespectful really.
@@Faxy95 Damn if that's true then that kinda sucks for NZ
@@ryanfenech6999 yeah man, don't mean to be the bearer of bad news at all though.
Good to see Owen SMG in game but, it was only used in PNG and Pacific Area.
I'm glad they actually hired an Australian actor this time instead of getting a Yank to do a terrible Australian accent.
Same consisting Iâm an Aussie like Martin copping
I spoke with an Australian accent for a weekend & kicks in randomly.
You mean a couple of Aussie actors.
he talks like he's a fucking gronk from the 21st century. doesn't sound like a fucking WW2 dude at all. shit performance
@@alphabroncotwozero392 yeah, because you were around to know what a WW2 dude sounded like...
The funniest part about the horrors of WW2 was that Rommel had more respect for the ANZACs then a lot of the British generals.
And Indian soldiers who were POWs under Germany were treated way better than Indian people were treated back in India back during the British Raj
FINALLY!!!!!!
An actual Australian voicing an Australian.
Battlefield 1 had real Aussies for the Gallipoli missions đ đŠđș
Yeah, I'm glad they didn't just get an American actor to try and do Australian accent and fail miserably like they usually do.
@@halfmoon106 when? And theres russian voice actors too?
@@macmiller6055 Apex, simpsons. Any character from FH3...
AND he carries an Owen SMG! Now that's dedication to a nation in-terms of accurate representation. Hell, if they even had him as ATSI and speaking like this (maybe more accented if he's from a mob up the top-end); Riggs would still get both thumbs up for representation. Aussie Aussie Aussie! Oi Oi Oi!
@@graemelamont1617 idk if you know this but the characters in vanguard are represented by real life soldiers who received or were made as heros or super soldiers from their respected countries and lucas riggs was taken from a soldier named Charles upham who was awarded 2 victoria crosses from what he did during the war, Charles upham was actually a new zealander
The âfuck me deadâ 0:12 was so accurate fkn hell đ
love the good ol' Australian sarcasm too through out this video haha
That's the moment I knew they hired actual Australians.
@@joshwilliams8863 Wait, they hire us?
I want a fucking pay rise.
They fucked the game up. Lucas rigs was based on Charles up ham which is a New Zealander. Absolutely disrespectful they tried to make him a Australian. Saying Charles upham is Australian is like saying Winston Churchill is American
@@TheEnemyCombatant he was inspired by him, howâs it disrespectful
The fact he said the first thing he was going to do back home was "eat lamingtons" instead of getting pissed at the pub shows he's no true Aussie
Well he's not, he's meant to be a Kiwi so there's that, but yeah, if they wanted to go full aussie that's definitely what they should have said instead.
@@cpt.curiousgaming that makes sense now considering they were created in NZ đź
"I'm going to the pub. Then having a root."
@@revanamell1791 hahaha yeah man i thought he was gonna say im going for a root
@@cpt.curiousgaming Yeah it's kind of weird that they would change the name and nationality of a war hero. As an Aussie myself I don't agree with it and respect our kiwi brothers. It is what it is I guess đ€·
Most exaggerated Aussie in a video game ever.
And the most realistic hats off.
Itâs accurate asf, wtf? Nearly every Aussie in 1940âs to 1980âs sounded like this. Itâs slowly changing now to some weird accent, but itâs quite accurate being an Aussie myself.
Nah mate this is bloody damn accurate. Our accent, the amount of swearing, our interactions... It's all there. Our accent has turned to some weird shit, but there's 3 main types of the Aussie accent. Strong, general, someone trying to imitate our accent.
No, it's accurate to modern Aussie. Look for the Succulent Chinese Meal video for what 1940's Aussie would have sounded like - Much more British influenced.
@@testtickles8878 the aussie accent right now is cringe af mate. I swear it's just eshay shit and bogan too
Well Iâm a North Queenslander and so was the last 140 years of my family and the only problem I see is heâs too high pitched. And the accent sounds like a modern general accent not an old broad accent. If you wanna hear a proper Aussie accent Battlefield 1 with The Aussie bloke fuck knows his name but heâs fair dinkum. And also Mick Taylor the movie serial killer his accent is pure dug up Aussie gold. Great job on Lucas actor non the less
the sheer disdane in the "Fucken drongo" is fucking perfect
The fact that Upham got replaced by an Aussie is the most Australian thing they could have done đŠđș
Funniest thing is that "they" aren't even aussie
Facts bro Phar Lap and Pavlova wasn't enough

Yeah typical aussies tryna steel others work and take the recognition for themselves đ
@@TheEnemyCombatant You think us Aussies had any say in that decision? Just typical Yanks knowing fuck all about geography
Finally Australia getting some recognition for what they did in the war
Ohh yeah, our boys in tobruk are getting recognized
The character this is based off is actually an NZ war hero, not Aussie
At the same time disrespecting Australians all together
There's a lot of content for game creators to make around our Anzacs, as much as any other country in the allied forces. I wish games made more stories around underated forces like Anzacs or even the gurkas! (Sorry if I spelt that incorrectly.)
@@Twisty101_ Yeah, but at least the big picture of Australians are gettin' recognised. I'm still a tad disappointed in that decision that they made, I might not like our fellow New Zealanders, but they're our mates and they deserve recognition as well.

Fucken Oath.

I like that Jacobs becomes more chill with Des and Lucas after seeing how competent they are, and how incompetent the Major is.
Man I love being Australian, and itâs good to see they have an Australian actor in these types of games
2:28 The first thing he'll do when he gets out. I'm sad he didn't say he'll have some beers or watch the footy.
Yeah Lemmings and brewskies are good im sad to mate
Sounds like a kiwi..
This man sounds like old lazarbeam just a full on stereotype
To be fair, this is like set in the 40s
I'm sad that no pubs were mentioned
Everyone here who says this is an accruate representation of how a WWII era Australian would speak does not know what they are talking about. This is modern Australian and quite noticably different to how people spoke in the 40's
Definitely
Much closer to usual depictions though, and this isnt so much a modern accent as much as a 60s-70s accent the modern accent is fading heavily and only rural Australians and bogans talk like this.
@@P.Subaeruginosa, no I dont even agree with that really. Listen to the Australian soldiers in vietnam in this clip @ 3:50 czcams.com/video/9dEJoH1NARg/video.html. Then listen to the guys in this Home and Away episode from the other day: czcams.com/video/L7CV6VSgMV8/video.html. The dude in the game is far closer to Home and Away than those soldiers. Yes there are more diverse accents in Austrlia these days (not that this is apparent from main stream TV) but still the accent in the game is miles off and does not make me feel for one second that I am authentically in that period - it just sounds silly.
@@andrewwestcott9172 60-70s soldiers isn't the Australian accent. I'm from Australia my mum was brought up at that time and I have countless hours of family footage from her and her siblings growing up even half of our slang today is theirs or the generation before them his patterns of speech are off by a lot though as in men didn't speak in the way he did because men were men in those days every word wasn't in joking inflection but accent is definitely best were ever getting I'll take it for every Australian depiction in games even the women. Also a person's social standing was more obvious back then someone from the country and someone from the city talked completely different and same goes for states with slight differences.
He sounds like a tradie on eccies down the pub.
lol @11:03 we're not here to f**k spiders... yep an aussie was certainly involved in writing the script.
Lucas Riggs is every bogan in a Maccas drivethru at midnight on a Fri/Sat night.
Maaaaate! Maccas? More like the Turkish kebab shop stayin' open for all the drunk drop kicks coming out of the pubs.

Australians have always had the same accents just the vocabulary was different so was the recording equipment so it makes it sound different it's definitely not the same vocabulary used back then

The German soldier in Africa shooting at soldiers that are clearly British and ANZAC shouts "AMERICAN"
As if his comrades didn't realize that they were in a battle shooting at the enemy, and clearly has no idea what front he is on or the incredibly stark difference between a British, ANZAC, and American soldier.

Couple of things, During WW II we did NOT wear an Aussie flag on our ammo pouches. EVER. Also why are Aussies under Brit Command at Tobruk?
All the Poms ran away from what i remember. The exception being an arty battery. All Infantry was Australian.
The Lamingtons were a nice authentic touch though.
The Tobruk siege was held off by mostly Aussies, but also had Pommys, kiwis and Indians there..
I think to disregard the Pommys kiwis and Indians efforts is pretty disrespectful to them and the parts they played in that pivotal part of the war.
But yes Aussies weren't under Brits command as we had put our own officers in as commanders after Gallipolis atrocities and utter failures from a military strategic stand point.

Sadly I only played the free trial of Vanguard's Multiplayer, but I liked Lucas anyway due to playing him in Warzone. I'm glad to hear his lines from the actual game though. Sadly in Warzone his bio states that he's "Australian (Tasmania)", labeling him as a Tasmanian. I think when taking him from Vanguard to Warzone they decided to copy his nationality from Wyatt's because Wyatt is listed the same thing. But like most of the comments section, I'm appalled that he didn't once say "C U Next Tuesday", my Australian friend says that word all the time like all the others I've met.
