May I ask, where did you get your cork? I've got a preying mantis egg case that I found on my truck tire. I set up a mantis enclosure from Tarantula Cribs, and I wanted a small piece of cork for the babies to hide until I can release them when they hatch in the spring. 🤞

Black widows shape freak me tf out but you can’t deny how beautiful they really are. They look like they are spray painted or glass like and I could only wish my booty was that big 😂😂😂😂😂

I'm also afraid of spiders and having a jumping spider helped me soooo much. I'm still a little creeped out by them but i plan on getting more one day and i think eventually my fear will be gone completely. It's crazy how much you can grow to really love a jumping spider if you find one with the right personality. As someone who was mostly terrified of spiders, i absolutely fell in love with my Phidipus Audax Jack almost like you would with a cat or dog. He had soo much personality... Anyways good luck in your spider journey. I hope you get an awesome one.
Black widows terrified me as a kid but now that I'm older I definitely feel like they have a beautiful mystique about them. I will never own one as a pet but I really enjoy watching your vids with them! :D

I live in Idaho and we've recently had a cold snap with lows in the 20's. A few days before the cold set in I found a small female Western Black Widow and have been keeping her because it was unlikely she would survive the cold snap where her web was located. She doesn't have much of the usual juvenile markings but she's only half the size of other adults i've seen so she's probably got a molt or two left in her.

Finally haha! I saw your feeding video in a short awhile ago, found a wild black widow in the open just on the ground in a lot and as it was windy and below freezeing I took her in. My dilemma was that for the life of me i couldn't figure out if your enclosures where the medium-sized or large! I'm so relieved you said so at the end lol

A big tip If yall want a black widow but it isnt available in ur country try to get a false widow (Steatoda Grossa) Looks like the real deal and is almost the same Because its part of latrodectinae
That contains Steatoda (false widows), Latrodectus (Real widows) Btw the habitat of a Steatoda And Latrodectus is the same and so is the webbing and food so yes a good tip :D

Love Holly's new enclosure, but I don't think she liked being moved, as in, "Sorry, Tarantula GIRRLL, but that just pissed me off, so I'll just take my frustrations out on this WORM here...."
I had a mature super large female black widow that lived under a chair on my porch. Once she claimed it, it was her chair. One day as I was sitting on my bench I felt something on my leg ( I had shorts on), I looked down and there she was... Thankfully I had my newspaper close by and got her to walk on it. She was then relocated to the flower bed. They're such beautiful spiders. I'm glad you gave yours such a cool home.
I used to be one of those people who never understood why someone would have a widow. Then a few months ago I saw someone get trashed on a facebook group for having one (in a jumping spider group) and after I came to their defense I researched. Was hard to find someone who had them but I found a great lady who breeds them and now I have Lux, who is extremely chill, docile, and adorable.
A jumping spider group?! That’s insane. You’d think of all people they’d understand. Glad you were brave to come to their defense. I would have done the same.
Some of the jumping spider groups are amazing and kind, like I am sure you know better than me. A few, though, are popping up and becoming really snarky and gatekeeper-ish. It's gross.

I received my first captive bred jumping spiders today.. two Striped House-Hopper (Maratus scutalatum) Juvies.. no Trick all Treat for me this Halloween!! Do you think a mini coffin is too small for an adult bold jumper? I have slings right now but obviously they're growing very fast. So I was just wondering what your opinion is on that? The dimensions are definitely slightly smaller than what they say is a minimum but the mother of my slings had a 6×6x9 and that was WAY too much space for her.
yes a mini is too small for an adult. the medium is perfect though.
@@tarantulakat Okay awesome, thanks so much! I actually have the kat pack w/ a signed box 😁 and that's what we initially raised up the slings in. It could not have been better timing when we ordered ours. Love them by the way! For now they're in their own little temporary deli cups lol but they definitely grow fast.
