I had set my timer for this one so I could order it right away because otherwise I end up forgetting and then missing out (like what happened with pumpkin 😔).
I just want to say that my Maple plush arrived (I think a month or two ago) and I love how fluffy they are. Ended up ordering two so my child could have one too (as a Christmas gift so they're going to have to wait).

Jacks Black Widow bite was suprisingly gnarly. Pain for days, he looked like he'd been hit by a truck. He had to really goad the spidey to bite him though. As you say, these beauties really don't want to bite you... I love them so much. So stunningly pretty.

Hey TK! I adopted my own Black Widow lady a few months ago to bring her inside before a freeze. She laid two huge egg sacs and about 300 babies are currently catching as many flies as they can eat on my porch. Thank you for removing the stigma on these beautiful and easy to keep creatures. And yes, people are always shocked to find out I have one!!
I had a Black Widow when I was in 3rd grade. Her name was Emma and she was my first pet! 🥰
We found her in our back yard, but what's cool is that there's a Black Widow farm literally down the street from where we live, and they would send us food for her. 😊
There is indeed an antivenom but it's very rarely used. It has a very high severe allergic reaction risk, so it's only indicated in extreme cases. Usually we just control pain and muscle spasms until the effects pass. Most of this is theory though, I've only seen one bite in my ER in the last years.

I am terrified of spiders, with that said. Last week there was a black widow in our office and as terrified as I am, I got a cup and plate and got the black widow and took it outside. I feel after watching your videos it's helping with my fear of spiders. I won't be getting a spider as a pet any time soon, but it's helping with my anxiety over them.

The major issue with black widow bites is that the venom protein is a common systemic toxin that you can have an allergic reaction to even if you aren't allergic to other venoms, like bee stings. If you are allergic to bees, you should be equally wary of bites from black widows.
What I like most about them is their behavior. During feeding, they are one of the most fascinating creatures to watch. They are extremely careful with how they approach prey items in their webs. They really don't want to get hurt. They also eat other spiders quite commonly and it's crazy to watch one hunt in a web that belongs to another spider. Their slick bodies don't stick to sticky silk. Pretty handy for when you are on the move through the territories of other spiders.

I literally just watched a new movie the other day that came out called "Sting" which I was going to recommend to you in a comment somewhere - and this is the perfect place! It's about a little girl who raises a redback spider for a pet, which is the Australian black widow. They did an excellent job on the model of the spider, I think you'd appreciate it! Plus it was just a really fun B grade horror movie.

I have a southern house spider. She lives in my house free range. I wanted to order one of the habitats but they aren’t available now. I am looking for a few black widows for pets. I have 3 adult female false widows and have raised so many I have lost count. I find them in my house and relocate outside. I also have 4 wolf spiders. I have 2 babies, 2 sub adults. I have raised them from babies. All 4 are wild caught. You and Maple (which I have and love) made me fall inlove with wolf spiders. You have made me fall inlove with widows. I love watching your videos and you have been and are such a huge inspiration to me!! I will be ordering your widow also!! I love the button eyes!!

Thanks so much for such a fantastic video. I have a black widow named Thomasin; I rescued her as a teeny tiny baby from the corner of my garage about this time last year. I love watching her and she's fully grown now and thriving. They are SO COOL to watch wrap their prey and eat.

I recently found a false widow and I’m obsessed! She’s beautiful like a black widow minus the fact she won’t live as long but she’s so much fun to watch and stays out of hiding all day! And watching her catch food is awesome. Love your enclosures!
I’ve watched them hunt crickets in the garage. Normally timid, they drop to the floor with striking purpose. Their long legs allow fairly quick strides. They’re kind of fragile, so it’s fun to see them strong in their element, beautiful, confident, fearsome predators of the night.❤
In Australia, no one has died from a redback bite since 1958, and there is anti-venom for redbacks

I caught a black widow crawling across our living room floor a few years back. I decided to keep her in a container. I think we had her for about 6 months and she created an egg sac. Yep, it was full of little ones. She must have stored that juice for a while?

Hey Kat, I’ve been on and off your channel for a few years.
So tonight I thought I ACTUALLY found my first brown recluse in person, inside my car and I captured it to show my son.
Now I’m feeling convinced it’s a simple yellow sac spider 😢.
Would you be able to make an identification video by chance showing the differences?

I have two False Black Widows as pets, and they behave just the same. They aren't skittish at all. Very docile species.
I have each of them in Kraft mayo plastic jars. With a few crossed toothpicks through small holes. The jars are upside-down so I can easily clean the corpses and poop. The bottoms are covered with old band-aids so they get some shade to hide.
I think they are the most gorgeous spiders. I would love to have one but it makes me nervous.

Yes, there is an antivenon. Unfortunately, it is able to be uses only once in your lifetime due to its scarcity and difficulty to produce.
I’m not allowed to have any pet spiders. My husband is not a a fan. So, I leave them alone if i find one in my house or around. Well, I have what i thought is a black widow in my garage. I figured it’s avoiding me and I will avoid it, there are no kids in the home. So, easy to avoid a bite. The problem is that now there are 2 egg sacks! But with closer inspection it may a cupboard spider(false black widow spider). Which we do have in michigan. It is a dark rust color, big bulbous body, and no defining lines on it. The only way to really inspect it is to capture it and if i do, it has to be released outside. Which i don’t want it to die. I don’t know what to do! But i don’t want more of them in my garage!!!!
I love those plushies, but i missed all the tarantulas sadly. But if there would ever be a peach/brachypelma hamorii plushy then i gonna buy one without thinking.
We have a beautiful widow in our backyard, she already has an egg sack. Idk if I should get her or let the babies hatch. But we have pest control so they'll die anyways. Shes down inside a brick so she's hard to get to
I love the spiders! There are just soo many kinds, it would be hard to choose. I think the black widow is so beautiful. I think I would be too nervous if it got out. The funny thing is something like a Mexican red knee escaping doesn't bother me at all.

I got bitten by one when I was 12. I was camping, went to the latrine and had no idea she was living under the latrine seat. I sat down, and while doing my business felt a big pinch. I thought I had gotten a splinter from the wooden seat…. Until o started to get really sick. It was awful. I already knew I was allergic to bee venom and carried an epi pen. My counselors administered my epi pen and called an ambulance. I don’t blame the spider at all. She was just defending herself. However it is NOT an experience I’d like to repeat.

It's funny this video came out when it fid earlier the same day I found what I thought was a dead blsck widow but then i asked a Facebook group and a couple people say they have no idea what spider it is because it's huge but no red spot so it would be a male but otd too big to be a male

So I want to tell you something. My barely sub-adult versicolor has been in her hide for 3 months, I figured per-molt.
So last night I took the back off & what did I find but a sac. What !!
Was able to feed her & take the beautiful Snow White sac out with little dried up eggs.

I personally think they are great pets, just respect them, but they arent terribly fast. They almoat always choose to retreat or play dead instead of biting

Lactrodectus mactans bites are very rare. Males have less venom than Females. And yes there is a antivenom called Antivenin Lactrodectus mactans.
