1-Are you being served. 2-The Vicar of Dibley 3-Keeping up Appearances. 4-As Time goes by. You all lose your memory????
You've missed out loads of very good British sitcoms, including: Coupling, Drifters, Pulling, Toast of London, Mind Your Language, Man About the House, Rising Damp, Steptoe and Son, The IT Crowd, Mr Bean, The Two Ronnies, One Foot in the Grave, Ever Decreasing Circles and Keeping Up Appearances.
The Two Ronnies was a sketch show.
@@HappyCynic Pathetic - he lists many sitcoms and you point out The Two Ronnies was a sketch show. How about addressing the comment?
"Keeping Up Appearances"?? how did this get left out? i thought it'd be in the top five!
Here's all of the sitcoms in order
25- Red dwarf
24- Black books
23- Absolutely fabulous
22- The good life
21- Gavin & Stacey
20- Nighty night
19- Pheonix nights
18- Hancocks half hour
17- Spaced
16- Bottom
15- Dads army
14- The young ones
13- The league of gentlemen
12- Porridge
11- Yes minister
10- The inbetweeners
9- I'm Alan partridge
8- The royle family
7- The thick of it
6- Peep show
5- Only fools and horses
4- Blackadder
3- Father ted
2- Fawlty towers
1- The office
Who put these together...? Who voted The Office as number 1? This was Only fools when the TV did a survey..anf Fawlty...
Seriously where’s Father Ted give me a break
Oh wait its number 3 nevermind
The office will never beat fawlty towers in my mind
Red Dwarf should be in the top five, it's got great stories, great comedy set ups and classic episodes. It's still going strong 32 years later.
Fawlty Towers is one of the best sitcoms ever created no matter the country
what about "Are you being served?" it is still a great show
The IT Crowd should've been on this list!
Where is the Vicar of Dibley!? That show is brilliant!
Completely agree with you!
I've never liked Vicar of Dibley, but it does seem very strange to me that it wasn't on the list, given how popular it is.
Never found it laugh out loud funny, however it's a nice cosy little sitcom with great characters.
I loved Vicar of Dibley
I loved vicar of dibley and keeping up appearances. I don't find filth and swearing funny. I prefer great writing and great acting as only the British can. 😊😊😊😊😊
No IT Crowd?
+1
I know right!! I.T crowd should be number 2 and Spaced No 1! The office should be at 11.......
That is surprising!
"it happened Roy
It finally happened "
-Morris moss 2k2020
My thought exactly
What about Are You Being Served, Keeping Up Appearances, As Time Goes By, and Mr. Bean?
I was about to mention those, so I'll just add My Family, Fresh Fields, My Hero, and Waiting For God
thepegger Oh yeah, I forgot about My Family.
... On The Buses, Two Ronnies, Some Mother's Do 'Ave Them, Open All Hours ...
One Foot in the Grave
jesse keeping up appearances for sure!!
mind your language is an absolute classic that should be included
Mr. Bean, Thin Blue Line, Coupling, Are you Being Served, IT Crowd
Definitely
Honourable mentions for Steptoe and Son, Rising Damp, Men Behaving Badly, One Foot in the Grave, Vicar of Dibley, Keeping up Appearances, IT Crowd, Coupling, Teachers, Brittas Empire, Dinnerladies, Extras, Ideal, How not to Live your Life.
Fantastic comment.
Extras should have been in
On The Buses Maybe?
Rising damp definitely
Only fools will never get old, timeless classic.
Only Fools and Horses only at number 5? No Not Going Out, Open All Hours, Man About the House or George and Mildred?
PLEASE tell me there's someone out there that has seen Garth Marenghi's Darkplace?! Supremely underrated show... Btw, nobody mentioned the absence of The IT Crowd??
Gav Murphy Gav, I'm so happy to hear that!
so what happened between you and this renwick customer?
this is a solid but Darkplace is the one show i would have liked to have seen on here
That show is so heavily underrated
Darkplace is boring - it's just a badly-made series punctuated by the 'creator' of it boasting about how wonderful it is and pretending it was made in the '80s. It's just one bad joke repeated many times.
Are you being served, Vicar of Dibley?
Only fools and horses is the best British comedy ever
Where’s My Family?, that’s my favourite sitcom as it’s really hilarious and Daniela Denby-Ashe was really fit in it as Janey!
Yes!!! Sooo happy to see Gavin and Stacey on here..... What an overlooked gem. So lush!
Wow I list of high calibre comedy and you put that as number one. It's like taking a beautiful cake and shitting on it for the icing.
I'm a bit surprised One Foot in the Grave didn't make the list. That show was huge when I was a kid and it's still my fave.
I'm from the U.S and I love Fawlty Towers. Absolutely hilarious
Vicar of Dibley, Open All Hours, Gimme Gimme Gimme, Where are they??
Men Behaving Badly and Coupling are my best British Comedy.
how did 'are you being served?' not make it on the list???
Mr Bean???
aye
no
mr bean wasn't really a sitcom
+kevelstone yes it was
Stop
where's Mr Bean, My Hero, Bless Me Father, 'Allo 'Allo, Agony, Love Thy Neighbor, and A Man about the House?
in Canada an old British show "you are being served" was shown at 12am and I used to watch it all the time, was hoping it made the list.
It's called "Are You Being Served?" and you're not the only one here who felt it should have been on the list. :)
I know it's possibly one of the most rated British comedy shows in the U.S.
HOW IS BOTTOM AND THE YOUNG ONES NOT IN THE TOP 10?!
Not a list without Some Mothers do have em
My list
1. I’m Alan Partridge
2. Fawlty towers
3. The office
4. Peep show
5. The inbetweeners
Being an Aussie, I tend to enjoy (and relate to) British comedy more than most Yank offerings, and while I would only leave 2 or maybe 3 out of this top 25 list, I have to agree with many others that The IT crowd should have been here, I'd say in the top 5! Two other slightly more obscure but brilliant shows that should be here are Game On and most definitely Outnumbered. Oh well, it'll have to be a top 30 list next time!
Highlights for me from this list: Red Dwarf, Spaced and The Thick of It
There are a number that I personally would have included (IT Crowd, Mighty Boosh, Green Wing, Shameless, Men Behaving Badly) but to be fair it's a tough task to whittle it down to 25
I *love* Black Books! So glad it made it onto the list! Hahah.
Coupling is the funniest thing I've ever seen
Nothing beats "Fawlty Towers"...It's a pity, that, more episodes weren't made.
@Patrick Gallimore...It was rather lame and not funny.
I think the reason they didn’t make more is because the actor of the major died.
@@TomPlotagon He died in 1988. The reason for FT ending was that Connie Booth refused to continue.
@@geniemeadows5122 nah man it was the best of the best and DEFINITELY better than the office
Only fools and horses should be number one
There were some duff episodes, and the final few Christmas specials were pretty bad. Still a classic though.
+Chris Tilly a lot of jokes were based on current events so modern viewed wouldn't appreciate it as much
yeah I love that show
100%
That show is soooo overrated
How could you leave out last of the summer wine
by far the funniest British comedy of all time also keeping up appearances and waiting for God
good list. Most of these would be in my top 25 list too although not in the same order. The run-down is sadly lacking Steptoe and Son, Rising Damp and One Foot in the Grave..
Haven't seen number 1 but I'm calling Fawlty Towers.
Shameless number 2
I guess the top spot had to be one of three shows, either:
• Fawlty Towers (the "timeless classic" winner)
• The Office (the "intelligent" winner)
• Only Fools & Horses (the "nation's heart" winner)
Flowerly twats
What about Coupling? I would say it deserves top 10.
The last season was crap. Maybe that spoiled it for the list. I loved the show, though.
Glad I'm not the only one surprised Coupling didn't make this list.
I have to agree, Jeff leaving was not an easy replacement and the writers struggled with the results... But it was one of the funniest I've ever seen. Personal favorite: season 3 ep1. Split. Most original 30 minutes of TV I've ever seen.
As a Britain myself. I would like to recommend more 70s british comedy. I.E. some mothers do have em, are you being served and til death do us part followed my in sickness and in health.
Definitely missing Keeping Up Appearances, IT Crowd, maybe Open All Hours... but I also agree with most... probably need a longer video list!
No Coupling wtf
Mind your language didn't make the list?
Yes, im disapointed too
Yes exactly..mind your language and keeping up apperances should be no 1 n 2 ...pls not office..for heaven sake
I presume you are having a larf - it was so dreadful it made STEPTOE AND SON look like CITIZEN KANE.
@@EnosEverything are u joking
@@EnosEverything I mean it may be raicist
No sorry:
1- gavin and stacey
2- peter kay car share
3- only fools and horses
4- IT crowd
5- inbetweeners
Dont even question me 😂
VERY glad to see Gavin and Stacy! An absolute FAVE!
As Time Goes By, Are You Being Served, Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em & Keeping Up Appearances should absolutely be on this list!
hope theyre available here in the philippines? I've watched i am alan partridge, allo allo, Monty python, thin blue line, blackadder, spaced, goodies, young ones, fawlty towers, it crowd, The office, the inbetweeners, i am loving brit comedy so far even though they are not popular here.
OMG! I can't believe Are you being served , Keeping up appearances and Vicar of Dibley are not on there. WOW! :( Now, Mrs. Brown's Boys.
The 12th Doctor swearing and saying f**k and c**t. What's not to love about #7, The Thick of It? xD
I'm glad you guys put The Royle Family on here. People tend to forget about that one
Never heard of a single one of these comedies here in the USA. Only ones we know is what they play on PBS, like Mr. Bean, Keeping Up Appearances, and Two Ronnies.
So happy to see Gavin and Stacey included.
Mind your language is a must watch
StarzBornFromLightning CZcams Channel that was absolutely revolting that show. Classic but even worse than Alf Gartnett.
'Game on' should have been in the list. It's brilliant
Coupling is one of my favs.
There was a Detective show by the people from the GOES WRONG SHOW.. anyone know what it was called ?
No Coupling?
Surprised at the lack of Rising Damp as well as the it crowd obviously
I'd put Father Ted at #1. There were episodes I laughed so hard I couldn't catch my breath: Speed 2 and Kicking Bishop Brennan Up the Arse. And Toast of London? Him and Her? Little Britain? The Mighty Boosh? The IT Crowd?
Little Britain is a sketch show not a sitcom
I’m South African and love British humor
and these are my favorites in no particular order
Blackadder goes north
IT crowed
Mind your language
Thin blue line
Red Dwarf only at 25?
Ik right red dwarf should be lower down at least in the top 5
What about operation good guys, they were a mockumentary before the office.
How did Coupling miss out on this list unbelievable.
# cheers for the late Rik Mayall..The Young Ones ..Bottom.. and guesting om Blackadder..
Some personal favs :"One foot in the Grave"-"Britta's Empire""The Detectives"..
2:58 gotta love a bit of old school british humour
Alan Partridge and Nighty Night are comedy gold.
We would have ranked Only Fools and Horses first in our household. We also adore The Cafe with Ralf Little, Michelle Terry and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Steptoe and Son, Only Fools and Horses, Fawlty Towers, Some Mother's Do Ave Em, Monty Python's Flying Circus, My Family, Game On, Blackadder, Little Britain
only fools and horses is the best
Red dwarf should be way higher on the list top 5 at least
Wot, Last of the Summer Wine not on here? It was the longest running Sitcom in the world FFS!
I'm surprised too personally.
It wasn't funny, so that's probably why.
Everyone's entitled to their opinions
I am not surprised that there are people championing Last of the Summer Wine. However, I am surprised that those same people use the expression "FFS"! Summer Wine fans and "FFS" are not things I would associate with one another.
Last summer
Boy the UK is probably the spot that has the most genius mind for comedy
Sweetie, Darling, why is AbFab so low on this list?
Last of the Summer Wine, Keeping up Appearances, Are you being served, Time Gentlemen please, Open all hours. Vicar of Dibley, Bread, Coupling, My Hero to name a few that should be on this list.
Three up two down and Brush strokes are my favourite classics shame its not on the list.
And, Friday Night Dinner! Not to mention Green Wing
Red Dwarf will always be best for me.
What about The Young Ones - hilarious show & my # 3 pick - after Fawity Towers #1 and Peep Show #2
Does anyone else know about the absolute gem that is The Mighty Boosh
Highly addictive stuff
Throw a list on the description and I might sub
Maybe. 👍
Edit the office at no 1
Naaaah.
I'm looking for a comedy sitcom about a TV station. Name is something like WKTV but can't find it anywhere. It's from the early 90s.
Did I miss Chef!?!! .. and Keeping up Appearances? Was this supposed to be ranked?.. inbetweeners is laugh out loud funny.. I put Fawlty Towers ranked up there but the Office was eh.. entertaining.. IT crowd.. Maybe I missed these.. Saw a few i need to check out.. Great Video!
Yes Zohan! Chef!
Thin Blue Line and Some Mother's Do 'Ave 'Em were big omissions for me
Peep Show and Alan Partridge - AWESOME
Peep Show is my second - after Fawity Towers
Where is the IT crowd???
Well that's awkward for you
I was about to say the same thing. I mean, this is IGN! If any British sit-com should be on this list it's IT Crowd.
Only Fools wasn't number 1??
They´ve missed I deal, The IT crowd, Miranda, Pulling, Green Wing and so many others....they´d better do a Top 50...loved Father Ted though
I'm surprised on the buses wasn't on the list
Where in this list comes coupling?
Of All-time? Does that include the shows in the future?
This was one of the best lists because Fawlty towers was in the top 2 yet it should of still been number 1
What about Allo, Allo!, Monty Python, or the superlative Mind Your Language?
how can The IT Crowd and Miranda not making into the list? they are both marvellous and making me laugh
In America, our PBS stations imported a bunch of great British sitcoms that didn't make this list (although Fawlty Towers did). We must have slightly different senses of humor, or we need to import more shows.
I love Black Books so much!
I quite liked Steptoe and Son.
Really good list, the only show I would add is IT crowd
