You can boost anything but the question is how much boost can it safely take before disassemble lt1 is mainly limited by the lower half of the engine not being forged like the lt4 and the fuel system is limited. You probably could safely put a small procharger on and push the fuel system to it's limit without serious repercussions and daily drive it. If you want to get the max out of the stock fuel system you will need to cam the engine as well. There's a few examples on CZcams stock lt1's boosted and used as daily drivers with alot of miles recorded with no major issues. I personally would just keep it NA and go full nutz there's several NA lt1 builds pushing 600hp or more.

Well done. I boosted my 98 C5 with a non intercooled Magnuson several years ago. I became addicted to it. You know smaller pulley, Meth, had a great tuner. Smaller Pulley, Did NOT maintain my meth nozzle. BANG! pulled the heads. Broke a ring land on #7. Ate it too. I was doing banzi runs on the freeway trying to clear out the injectors with Sea Foam. That worked well, but i had thinned the oil and over heated the back 2 cylinders. I had removed the rear vent tube and blocked the vents off (Big Mistake). OK just closed a nice order at work so used the commission to Rebuiild and Upgrade. Added the Intercooler to the Magnuson, Mahle Pistons, H Beam Rods, Crane Cam, Springs and rockers, Balanced and blue printed. But with a stroker crank in mind the builder called to say #7 Sleeve is cracked. OK, Ordered a Cast Iron LS1 Block and reused the old crank with all the other new stuff. Engine was very very strong. 525 at the wheels Just a street car to scare women and children. which it did. Went through a few clutches, trannys and put in a 3.73 gear from Mallet. Finally had it all worked out. reliable and a best awesome instant torque. but then I found a Ron Fellows C6 Z06 I wanted and traded for it. The new owner of the 98 was older and rarely drove it. I had named the car a White 98 C5 with blister hood and 66 big block hood vents White Fang. After Soupy Sales dog in TV. But the new owner took hid brother in law for a ride and when they returned he renamed it Frankenstein. Below 3,000 RPM is was very normal but nail the gas and it will rip your head off. Recently he sold the 98 to another fellow and he called to ask about the motor. He had all the paper work I had included in the sale and thought it was using oil on one cylinder. I suggested Valve seals because I knew the lower end was very well built. Today I have a 2014 C7 and have been eyeballing that Vortech Kit from A&A versus Heads and Cam. I see you had the high rise holley intake did that help of more to scare folks. I had put a Vortech on my 81 C3 with a slightly built 350 and it was a Mustang eater. We had to use bigger injectors and pump there to but before intercoolers and meth was readily available power was kept down and mix was rich. Once you had boost there is no substitute. The C6 ZO6 was a let down after the 98. Sold it for a SS Sedan, boosted it with GM Roots but the car was too big and heavy after 40 years of Corvettes. Sold it and found this 2014 so now thinking its Boost time again, before I croak or get the C8 Z06 ($$$$$$$$), This is a nice Vette think A&A may be the way to go but with all the safetys you listed for sure, it adds up but you don't want to break the motor. Car only has 10,000 miles. Thank You for the vote of confidence to boost the LT1. Katech is hard to get to from Virginia, but i do like their approach. Dennis

You could beat on it with confidence if you build everything to specific hp ratings. For example: ford terminator cobra has Manley forged h beam rods, and Kellogg forged steel crankshaft. The non supercharged SN-95 do not. No automotive manufacturer would put forced induction on a NA design. That doesn’t mean you can’t get away with it, just be careful and tune properly.

Great video man! I loved the procharger when i had mine on my g8, and good explanations. The killer for the LT1 stock bottom end is the heat and more importantly the lack of fueling. If you have the fuel the engine will typically last a lot longer. I ran nitrous with a stand alone on c16 to ensure the car was getting proper fueling along with the nitrous would reduce the intake temps as you were spraying haha.

It's not that you can't boost them it's the fact that when you do you become extremely limited due to the Di. We got screwed by Gm on this fuel system. Ford was actually smart for once and did port and direct injection on the gen 3 Coyote and its shows. Even with the Lt4 stuff you become limited pretty quick if you want to use any E85.

Hello All! I installed the stage 1 Edelbrock supercharger model 1570 on my 17 C7 GS M7 )(boost is 5.5-7.5psi/ 490-525rwhp) with the canned tune. I also routed a Mighty Mouse catch can for crank case pressure. The rest of the car is stock. The car is great and power delivery is amazing. I am also heading to California and want to track a handful of time on the track (Laguna Seca, Willow Springs). Meth is what kills these cars when they've been boosted and daily driven. When the meth runs out, or a nozzle fails, they eat themselves. When the meth works right, it's a great addition, but I cannot see myself relying on meth to prevent my LT1 from burning up. If you are going to boost an LT1, I really think you gotta go with adding port injection with some safety cuts programmed for the long term reliability. Easier said than done, of course. In reality, I just wouldn't boost an LT1 with stock internals at all. Upgrade the internals with GPI drop in kit, with proper machining, upgrade the fuel system to the LT4 system, and add a procgarger, keep it mild enough to avoid meth unless it's no longer a daily driver...
