It's not just diet. In America, healthcare costs an arm and a leg so most people who would like to seek care would not because they don't want to go bankrupt from 1 overnight stay.

An ancient Chinese official that visited Japan like 2K yrs ago wrote that Japanese people lived long, like over 80, so it has been like that on the island since the dawn of time.

The average lifespan of a Japanese man is 81, women is 87. A big difference.
The Japanese food you see outside of Japan are usually extra large compared to the same thing that you'd get in Japan.

My 4 reasons: Number 1: Universal health care. Accessible preventive medicine (endoscopy, ultra sound, MRI, blood test , etc) to detect disease at early curable stage. Number 2: low drug usage. Number 3: rare incidence of gun related deaths. Number 4: lower reliance on cars obliging people to walk more..... All quite unamerican....

Yeah. The Japanese work culture is drinking every friday after work ends and casual smoking. Supermarket's full of processed food like instant noodles and snacks like potato chips. Prices of vegetables and fruits are really high. People go to izakayas and order tons of beer, highballs and grilled meats.

First one isn’t so accurate, Japanese do eat hamburgers and fries. And I would say I like it more than some Americans. Even in some anime’s they depict characters loving it.
Also, US does not have the highest obesity rate in the world. We not far off than the UK. Not to mention it’s differ from each state, the South has the highest while most of other states have the lowest. Interesting, Asians have the lowest obesity rate and have the highest life expectancy. With the black and Hispanic population the reverse of them.

Lets be real here. Japan is pretty much a monoculture. America statistics in every category - health, education scores, violence, longevity, personal finance - is severely skewed by poor results among minorities. Especially blacks. If you took only the white population the statistics although not as favorable as Japan would be much more similar to Europe. So no one knows what to do about so many fat black people in the US which drives so many of the bad health statistics. But no one made them get fat. And claiming the BMI measure and various physical tests being "racist" is not going to fix the problem.
