This is a great video that points out what everyone should be aware of. Automation and AI will no longer create more and better jobs for people than it destroys. New types of jobs will likely just be done by ever more powerful AIs.
However, I wish that advocates for Universal Basic Income would stop referring to it as free money. It is not free money or a handout or charity. We, the people, over centuries have created the society that makes today's automation and AIs possible. Therefore, the intellectual property behind those things is in the public domain. In other words, we, the people, already own it, and we should be receiving royalties (in the form of a UBI) whenever it is used.
This also provides a seldom considered answer to the question of how to pay for a Universal Basic Income.

Also, if people had UBI people could spend time forming relationships and friendships. I can't tell you how many places I don't go, people I don't engage with, or things I don't create because I can't afford to travel somewhere, because I can't afford to live someplace, because I can't afford to eat someplace. I heard a scientist once say that a trained professional could do skilled work, for which the A.I would train itself on that data. That trained professional would earn payment from that. In perpetuity. That could be from white collar work, blue collar work, and even art, music, craft and so on.
Also, if it gets to the point that all basic things are resolved, then humans need to resolve social and psychological needs which would be a thing only humans can do, not A.I. For example, you wouldn't want heirloom products made from A.I. Or, a A.I nursing robot taking care of grandma.

I think they should tax the companies 1: the company should pay as much money as it would have if it was hiring humans . Or 2: they should tax the robots or Ai programs in the company . So let's say a machine can make 200,000$ profit per year , the company should take 20,000$ or 40,000$ profit and the rest goes towards funding the UBI . Because let's say the machine produced the goods who will buy them if the people don't have any money ? And let's say the company wanna grow how will it grow if you take all the profit ? This solution benefits both the people and the companies and I think it's the most realistic to apply

I know a lot of my friends would do food delivery apps for no more than 15 hours or they would have been considered employed and lost their free money even tho they were able to work full time. Also, think about economics. What would happen to inflation if everyone all of a sudden get $500 UBI? Wouldn't it be the same as when minimum wage employees went from $8 to $15 ... now 15 isn't. The same companies that would benefits from AI advancement hide their money in countries like Ireland so how would they be taxed to pay for UBI in the US? Let's imagine we currently have UBI, what do you think politicians are going to be promising on the next election? Hint: raising of UBI. Wouldn't that cause problem with democracy if the politician that gives the most UBI wins? I think I gave you free of charge enough talking points to make part two of your UBI video where you talk about the cons not just pros of UBI.

But if you don't think your local millionaire won't use their money, their businesses, their clout, to ensure they come out on the better end of that deal, you're delusional. Having the government give you a stipend won't be as good as this gentleman makes it seem. Assuming we don't immediately become a totalitarian state ruled by corporations that already mostly own America. Businesses owned by massive corporations will simply compensate costs to include the government stipend as they have always done everytime the minimum wage has been raised. Blue collar workers who go into debt will then encounter the same issue students with degrees are already facing today. Dr and master degree graduates that have saturated the market to the point where you can easily not obtain a job paying what you need while a blue collar business guy like myself who never went to college is making 6figures without the debt most of the PhDs had to go thro to get the degree. The difference is the blue collar option will be gone and it will just be the poor class and the wealthy class and the poor will have no recourse.

This has nothing to do with AI, it's such a sideshow. Universal Credit should already be a reality. Not everyone in the world needs to be an alpha producer or an over-achiever. It's ok some people just live and breathe. I would rather see my tax money spent this way than on pointless and wasteful projects the government seems to prefer today.

Problem is even underachievers are envious. It’s not like they will be happy staying home mastering all day and getting high. You can be sure there will continue to be fight, killings and robberies because of envy or jealousy.

I will take it seriously when it is more than young college freshmen who say it is so.

@@royjaber571 I would imagine that if it was implemented, greedflation would happen. Our housing would be a $1,000/month more, or something.

Why do they need to use AI to do the jobs? Machines don't have basic needs so they don't need jobs. Let humans labor to sustain themselves.
