The Best Cheap Off Road Go Kart?? | Manco Dingo!
Vložit
- čas přidán 1. 10. 2019
- Ike bought a cheap go kart from a friend recently- the Manco Dingo! This little off road go kart is a beast. Its 6 horsepower Tecumseh engine, live axle, tall knobby tires and stubby construction make it a surprisingly capable off roader. The secret to the Manco Dingo go kart is it's power to weight ratio- it only has a 6 horsepower OHV engine, but it is very light weight. Whereas most off road go karts with big suspension will sink down in the mud, the Dingo will scamper right over. In today's video, we get the old Manco running, take it for a rip, and quickly fall in love with it.
Thanks for Watching!

Had one of those as a kid, we had the two seater version! My sister ran over me with it once lmao
Oof that must had hurt lol
I got ran over by a 2 seater murray as a kid
Haha reminds me when my brother ran over my leg with a farm quad when he tried to drive straight with his eyes closed for some crazy reason. I was sitting on the front tray when he went into the ditch throwing me off. No big injury.
@Tyler Watkins 😳
I've been repairing small engines professionally for over 36 years now. Set the float just slightly higher than level ( on Tecumseh carbs.)also make sure the slow circuit is clean.........there are several procedures for this. First remove the plastic covered screw and clean it. This is the slow jet. The slow circuit is a little tricky. Hold the disassembled carb upside down in your hand. Look into the threaded part where the bowl screw threads. About 5 or 6 threads down a hole is drilled thru the threads. This needs to manually cleaned with a wire bent on a 90 degree angle. Make sure carb cleaner sprays from three spots 1) the hole for the slow jet. 2) the hole in the threaded hole for the main jet 3) the holes in the venturi . (The hole in the carb where the air flows.) A quick tip.......very often the rubber valve tip or rubber seat will swell with ethanol and cause the float level to lean out.....especially in briggs engines. If a replacement is not available and the float tang isn't adjustable you can grind the metal end of the needle to shorten it. Round off the metal tip like it comes from the factory. Hope this helps.
@@Kiddrah96 Maybe 10 or so years ago, I purchased a honda clone and had to rejet the idle jet out of the box for it to start without issue. I learned this from a gokart forum.
@@Kiddrah96 You should Google Predator 212 troubleshooting. Could be fuel?
No I hear you, Id swap a new carb too.
Hey I have the same engine and it does when I give it gas I replaced the carb but looks like it’s getting to much gas any suggestions?
Literally the go cart I had as a kid! The bumpiest, roughest, jankiest
go cart ever🤣 but it was awesome!!
That's what mine is except my chassie says American Express
@False Flag it'll definitely rattle your teeth out
Yup, I just helped my boy get one running. He came in the house after 20 minutes of riding around and looked like he been thrown through a tornado. Grinning like crazy though.
@@AmericasTeamAdventure that's what I'm like getting chased by police through a field in a 250cc shifter with dirt tires
At least you had one :(
These are my favorite kinds of off-road karts, tiny, small wheelbase, all it needs is MOAR POWER. Looks like a ton of fun!
I want to see more of that old red Triumph motorcycle in the background
yes i agree!!
yep!
Yeah, and the Camaro.
I have a dingo. Got it in like 1989. The sound that clutch make brings back so many memories
Is a torque converter 😂
@@danielmariscal7599 yeah your right. I always say clutch.
The big builds are fun to watch, but these "old school" episodes, as you called it, are just as good every once in awhile. It's more relatable to the kind of go karting I do so I always appreciate the bits of information I pick up from you guys.
You guys have given me inspiration to build my own shopping kart go kart and you guys should build one too
It really grinds my gears when the pull string doesn’t return all the way
JetSki Brothers or when people add a predator 212 or 420 but don’t realize you can remove, rotate, and reassemble the pull start assembly to the motor and your pull string can point backwards instead of straight forward into the back of the passenger seat.
@@mcarriker5 I had a go kart like this when I was a kid
I remember those when I was a kid really fun carts
What I love about this channel is you guys are the go kart dudes. The full builds are fun but I love seeing you guys work on and modify go karts.
When I was 18 this was one of my first good go-karts I ever bought had a 8 horsepower Briggs on it black with gold wheels I'll never forget it. Keep up the good content💪
Im 19 and have almost the same setup, history repeats itsselg
avery corwin mine was black on black, with a factory hitch and a hand parking break, adjustable seat, man I’ll never forget it hahah what a cool cart.
8hp is alot
When I bought mine (I was also 18) it was black with black rims. Surprised how popular these karts are!
Dude mine had an 8hp briggs too.
I tried so hard to keep the Tecumseh on my kart. I finally gave up and did a predator with a jetted carb and a header and couldn't be happier. it absolutely hauls ass and goes anywhere you want. Keep up the good work guys!!!
@@paxton8065 yeah a 212 predator. It dropped right in and Madea huge difference.
Dudes, don't worry about "old school" CarsandCameras content. THAT is what got you here! The quality of your content doesn't hinge on how fast you go or how high the roostertails are. Your homebrew'd solutions to simple problems that every go-karter will eventually run across, mixed with your own personalities, is what makes your channel.
I don't need to see y'all aiming for a 200 mph build to click the play button. I just need to see you two wrenchin' on sumthin'.... :)
Christmas 1984 Lacon Alabama.....I had 1985 Suzuki Quad Runner 125. My best friend, Bobby Joe Robinson and his cousin Billy Wayne Shepard each got one of these Dingos for Christmas. I don't remember theirs having the purple paint job. Anyways, we we're scheduled to go back to school the first week of January. 3rd til the 5th, maybe. The night before it comes a ice storm like no one had ever seen in Alabama. I lived on the end of the Appalachian mountains in north Alabama. We got about 6-8 inches of ice overnight. We didn't have salt trucks or really any equipment to clear the roads. 75 percent of the roads are hilly and curvey, so everyone was stuck, except 4WD or ATVs. The ice lasted for 12 days. No school. We wore those things out daily. I lost control of the dingo and side swiped my mailbox. Broke it off smooth to the ground. Thanks for the video dudes and bringing back some old memories. I turned 11 in November 84. Good times.
I have a purple dingo too. Great kart
You guys rock...keep karting🇺🇸👍
Thanks
This thing is awesome, loving that "old School" type of episode !
I found a Manco years ago and it had front shocks. The owner said it was broken...it had a broken drive shaft key. Got a new one, BOOM. It fit me and ran and ran and ran. Loved it.
Hands down the best go-kart ever made can't change my mind
The good old sounds of an old tecumseh power sport! They sounded different than any other overhead valve engine especially the that whistle when you let off the gas. Takes me back to being a kid!
I love Dingos. To me Manco had it right on these.
I would love to see more of these videos on the Manco because I have one and I need to work on it
This was my childhood go kart! Just got another one as a project today!
This is the kart that got me watching your channel. I got a Dingo a while back on a trade and put a 212 in it. Through your videos I have upgraded and ripped the guy all over the neighborhood, it even serves as our buggy to the neighborhood pool. Congrats on the find and I can't wait to watch this build.
I had a dingo with a B&S engine back in 1993-4 . I loved it. Cost dad 2500 new from ace hardware . my engine was way under powered. Blow it up I ran kart so hard. Then sold kart many years later. Loved how fun it was.
My step dad gave me an old go-kart magazine from when he was a kid and there was the manco dingo for sale in it for about 350 dollars with the engine. The magazine also had go-kart kits you could build as well as mini-bikes. It reminded me of the Manco Critter 2 that I had and named Ol' Rattler for how much it rattled when I drove it. We put lots of love and work into the go-kart and one day we woke up and it was stolen from us. I'll never forget how much fun go-karts are to drive. Love your vids, keep up the good work
Ive had my red 98 Manco Critter Gokart since i got back in the day. Love that little machine
I keep staring at the old triumph, great video guys. Love the manco!
Been waiting for the upload all day and I'm happy it is here!! Now I can start my day
I miss these simple easy episodes. Cheap kart, quick easy clean up/upgrade and some light hoonage. Its a winning recipe.
We love to watch you guys all day. Thanks for uploading. And the best thing your vids are downloadable for offline. Cool guys
My son has this go cart with a Predator 212 on it and a CVT torque converter on it and its a blast ! Got 3 go carts and 5 engines off marketplace because my boy got interested in this channel and not one of his friends can handle the go cart . Its got too much torque and way too sensitive for a first time rider but it will go anywhere the frame will clear and runs about 45 mph . Glad to see this go cart on your channel my son wants to put some suspension on it this winter to make it like our 350 2 stroke Honda odyssey . Thanks for keeping an 11 year olds attention and interest in something other than video games John and Isaac. I have you to blame for the 2 dirt bikes , a 4 wheeler and 3 go carts that are in my garage now , but this is an addiction that I can live with my son having
Gokarts and minibikes, that's why we watch you guys. Thanks for all you do. Later
Had one of these probably 15 or 20 years ago. Man now I wanna retire my death trike and get another dingo just for nostalgia sakes
Videos like this is what got me started years ago classic
A 285 dingo is what got me intrested in carts and this channel followed closely after(me viewing). I appreciate this build more than any other build.
Owned one back in the 80s!! loved it!
I had a black manco dingo 5hp! It was awesome. Brings back tons of great memories
always good to see an OG Carsandcameras video, back to the golden days
Old school thats the cars and camera's i love , man you guys have fun and it shows ike laughing made me laugh and telling john go so he could hopefuuly roll lmao .....
I cannot wait to see more on this kart.
Miss these kind of episodes, brings me back to the good ole days back when I was in highschool building karts from your guys vids.
Reminds me of when I took the deck off my 15HP riding lawn mower back in the late 90's and stripped it down to the bare frame, built a roll cage to stiffen it up, put a low slung go kart seat in it and lowered the steering wheel by about 12". I tuned the engine a bit, and it was perfect for mud slinging. I was doing donuts in the back of our 4 acres on that thing, slinging mud everywhere. It kicked ass.
I had one of these when I was a kid! Very sturdy karts.
This was my first kart back a few years ago. Learned alot from it and from y'all
I absolutely love the olde school videos please do more they're great!!!!!
Dingo is my favorite go kart period. I have the black and yellow model with a hopped up 212 and it flat out rips!!!!!!
Thanks for uploading work on this kart. My dad gave me a two-seater , Manco Dingo for my kids to ride. I've swapped the carb fixed a few wiring issues and the motor runs great. Even has electric start that starts as soon as its cranked. The only problem I've run into is the torque converter. It wont grab and when it finally does if you ever stop, it will hang and move the cart while trying to start it. Will be swapping it out for a 30 series now and I'm sure it will rip. Thanks again, look forward to more of ya'lls videos.
love the looks of that, colors of the purple and rim color match up great, your channels awesome! love it, I have a beautiful offroad kart restored, Murray Explorer, gets around super great. has amazed us for where it's went. God bless :)
That's a nice little cart, Got some gettiup to it! Love the look you had when you jumped or hopped it, then you just kept going back! 😃 love the look of the silver one behind y'all at the end.
Very much enjoyed. Watching from new Zealand
Thank you for the inspiration I got into making some basic daily vlogs about my Jeep. I’m trying to keep it consistent with the uploads but its such a struggle but I love doing it.
I just love those dingos!!!😍
Love the filming at Ikes shop! That v notch should be part of the project proving grounds
I had to sell my Manco XTK-707c recently and I miss it a lot. Good memories, hope the guy I sold it to is having a blast with it.
That’s awesome. That’s the same cart that I have and did put a 212 on it. The grand kids have a blast with it (and so does grandpa 😊)
I open YT and one of the first things I find is MY GO KART on the screen with yall riding. Well, actually mine is yellow and has a few more miles on it and then of course it has a predator with a few sleeper mods on it. My son's figured out that if one stands on the back then jumps off as it takes off when the other punches the gas it will do wheelies stands. They actually took a video of it and their friend posted it on an offroading video app and it was accepted and is now showing up all over the web.
Keeping it old-school.. I like it.. 🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍🍻🍻
I love those old school knobby tires
I love these kind of vids please make more
Hey guys love the show....I live in Saskatchewan Canada and I have this exact same cart...although mine came with a tecumseh 5.5 horse motor. I'm 280 lbs and it hauls me around pretty darn well. Keep up the great videos. Much love from up north.!!
Might wanna put a couple extra bars on that roll cage, Ike's knees will appreciate it. 😅
I had the same torque converter problem on my dingo! The only way I could fix it was machining the motor mount to tighten the tolerance on the belt. Worked like a charm!
That loose starter rope should have been a good enough reason to swap out that Tecumseh with a pair of 670's or just one.
I love everyone of your guys videos keep up the awesome work 👌😁
Please do more of these vids!!😀
Great video. Love the old school feel to it.
Awesome videos guys keep up the great work
Cool video thanks for sharing
I still have mine and love it, same engine but with a 200cc motorcycle carb, exhaust header, replaced the valve springs with the inner ones from a Lotus Elan, ported the head and replaced the plastic fueltank with a steel one after it split, it runs so much better than stock, you might wish to mess with the spring setting on the rear pully and it made quite a difference in how mine accelerated.
I used to have one on those years ago!!! That's awesome
13:46 - Something tells me that will change in the future.
I have a mango go-kart and I've had it for almost 2 years now and it was pre owned and he had it for 10 years and it's the best!!!!!
I remember when I was in 7th grade, my dad bought us a brand new dingo. Was black and gold. Was a fun little cart
dingo was always one of my favorite old karts. and yes, it is basically an american express chassis with the cage and the front spindles being different.
Love the old Mancos. Have a havoc m5 with a stage 3 predator myself. Almost pulls a wheelie
That thing is crazy
Nice vid keep up the great work!!
Love these kinds of videos please do budget buy again
The vibes are way better in Ike's shop. This should be new HQ
That's a pretty cool little cart good find Isaac!! So cool that it runs that good with so little done with it. Can't wait to see you guys take it out and put it through the paces and put a 212 predator on it. Keep showing that it can be done. Faithful Subscriber from Southeast Missouri.
As a long time fan of your channel. I really enjoy these type videos over the custom builds. Great video!
Thanks
i have an 84 dingo love it best kart iv ever seen
That little thing is a beast. That roll cage looks like it'll fold pretty easy.
I had one of these as a kid. Lots of good times on that bad boy
The 8hp briggs IC motors rock and rolled in these things.
Really enjoyed this episode. You guys are responsible for getting me into karts to begin with, and about a year ago I bought an identical Dingo (difference being that its black and came with a Subaru engine). I'd really love to see what you do with this thing. Just last week I bought a Predator 212 Hemi and a Stage 1 kit with the governor spring adjusted. I live in NJ, but if we were closer we could've compared builds!
That camaro 😍
Yall should film more at his garage I kinda like it more than the house
Glad to see you were able to get the POR15 off your hands!
The way you held the camera @12:26 makes it look like you are climbing a vertical hill
I'm jealous of Isac's nova
That’s a cool little cart
I had one when I was younger. Drifted it alot and it was a blast. Wish I still had it. And did a engine swap.
My first minibike was the manco thunderbird. Had a 3.5 hp techumpse and a centrifugal clutch it was a great machine.
Miss the good ol content thanks for this one great channel
this episode reminded me of your older video! this was awesome
I love them engines I had one for like 8 years no rebuilding it just carbs cleaned
I just bought one on the day this video came out thats a huge coincidence. Mine has a 850 series briggs, but has the same converter as this one but mine needs a new spring i think idk im new to all this. Love you channel so far great video perfect timing lol
