Hello sir. Whenever I go's to any relatives home. My child takes thinks from their home and starts to play. He don't sit in one place in anyone's home. So my family members saying to beat him, shout at him when he make mistakes then he don't do these thinks again. I don't want to shout and beat him. I want say clearly everything him calmly when he is with me alone. So i don't understand what is right or wrong. I am right. Or wrong. If wrong what is solution. Please anyone help for the same.

This was amazing. I myself belief in raising myself to be able to raise my child. I loved where you said that we don't do it because it's hard work but the impact of the easy way out on our child makes me cringe. Thank you Sridhar!

Hi ...i don't argue , neither i make them follow me .. i do same as u said ... But problem is my child still don't care about anything just being very very careless, don't study , don't wake up for school if i don't wake him up , don't care about homeworks class work , i just tell him that whatever you are doing going to lead you to a miserable life , i don't shout , don't argue , and these circumstances are on a daily basis ,. Still he don't listen don't follow , don't do anything . Now what do I do ?

When your child refuses to do something...
    Instead of saying:
"You have to do it. You have to write/ brush your teeth/ switch off the TV."
    Say
"I can see you really don't feel like doing it.When I was small, I sometimes didn't like it too when Grandma made me do it. But we all have to do it beta. Come, I will help you."
Let's EMPATHISE before reinforcing the rule!
Let Children know it's okay to not want to do something, and sometimes we still have to and that you understand.
Be in your child's team, even while putting the boundary!

As a parent, I have been trying hard to show the consequences of their actions many times. But sometimes I also loose my temper with constant disobeying. What do you do when your child continues to say no to studies, no to reduce screen time, no to every good habit I'm trying them to start practicing. How long can a parent also keep calm. Specially when there is no support or any active involvement from my partner.

As my son is younger he wants to watch super heroes, I am trying he should watch only for an 1hr / half and try requesting to share tv for his sister by the time he is ready my daughter refuses to watch and start up for an argument and son will start taking advantage of that and continue s watching. How to slove this problem it's increasing day by day as kids are at home from a long period. Please share your opinions and some tricks to handle my daughter.

My child only listens to my narcissist husband who always contradicts to the discipline I try to inculcate,he speaks very disrespectfully to me and it’s very painful to see him replicate his father who misguides him eg .being on time to school or anywhere he has to …if I wake him 10mins before time to ensure he reaches on time instead of waiting outside class always for being late…he says it’s ok at-least he’s not that late where we will be called …even wasting his time the entire day…holding on with the Hw until the eleventh hour due to which he gets only 5 hours of sleep on weekdays and now developing health issues…it’s all soo stressful!

But you cannot explain to a 16 yr old to not to go for parties or night stays as you may end up being a drunk or probably end up doing pleasurable stuff .. even if you give them the precise harmful reasons .. they simply won't agree to it or may probably say that I won't do that whereas the results may differ .. your point is right but it is 60% right .. basis instances and issues similarly you may not be able to ask a child to not be stubborn about his expenditures specially if you are in debt .. they may listen to the harm but that may affect their mind inappropriately and may decrease their self esteem or maybe increase hatred towards their parents depending on the environment statuses .. I believe your point is 60% right but if you have solutions to the above mentioned issues .. my belief may increase .. at times it is quiet easy to say stuff like this but real experiences could be bitter or maybe not in your support .. hence I would suggest do whatever you can as a parent but if the child still goes the wrong way .. it's not your fault and gradually with age someday he or she will understand whether if it was wrong or not .. it may be late for you or maybe not .. but guys let's agree .. THAT'S LIFE .. KEEP TRYING AND LET GO !!

My brother 10 year old is ruthless and doesn't listen to anything even when I scream at him, today I told him to help me do the laundry and he refused after my dad even told him I tried to talk but all he did was walk away, I felt hopeless and so disappointed, where did my little sweet brother go? Before this incident we haven't argued the whole day which was a blessing but his stupid ass had to ruin it, I even congratulated him for not arguing in the whole day but when he started acting like a spoiled little shit I couldn't hold it in anymore I can't deal with him words cannot express how deeply disappointed I am, part of me wishes he was never born I can't have just one damn day without him destroying the peace in the house. I started crying after he left, 5 mins he comes back not even to check on me (I was in the garage and it was nighttime) just because my dad forced him to help me, I was crying and saying how he's spoilt and a fucking nightmare and that he made me feel horrible and he didn't even care, even after my mom started crying too bc of his behaviour, in matter of fact he seemed satisfied with my reaction as a fucking psychopath. I hate my brother, right now I'm still crying and he's beside me watching TV like nothing happened
I need help please I want my old sweet brother back not this monster

A parent can never consider that "if you listen to me, that is fine and if you do not listen, that is also fine", because a parent never wants their child to suffer what they themselves have suffered. The emotional bond of a parent with child never allows "do whatever you want to do in life" otherwise there is no value of any experience.
I think that is poor western theory
