    Still using the 830 in 2017. I also have the 730 in the drawer. The 830 has optical camera stabilization so videos are fine, while on the 730 the videos are too shaky. On the other side, the 830 has poor mic and ear piece, while the 730 has an exceptional mic and loud earpiece. The 830 has a good touch screen, while the touch screen on the 730 is not that responsive.

      I like his comparison between both phones and points are valid
      however I feel "hey cortana" or any similiar feature on other platforms ("ok google" etc) are more or less gimmicks at the moment and judgement shouldnt be based totally on this one feature
      as for windows phone "slower" on the 830,i dont really see the difference,ofcourse there will be slight load with heavy games but its obviously gonna happen thanks to its "weak cpu" and ram but its not gonna happen all the time,i mean a smartphone isnt only to play games
      I have a 720 and 820(512mb and 1gb ram respectively) so i do know the exact situation with the increased load times and its not well potrayed in the video
      rest of the video,i like how Jaime is very unbiased and open about other platforms
      keep it up JR!!

    Just got the 930 2 days ago. I am very impressed. The 930 was 80 euros more expensive than the 830. One of the biggest differences is the 1080p vs 720p I think. Also the 800 is blazingly fast on WP. The 930 also has superb build quality, even better than the iconic (see what I did there ;) ) 920.

    Really couldn't justify buying either at this point. Microsoft needs to put out a new Windows Phone flagship if they're gonna get my money.

    Maybe I heard a bit of sarcasm in the measurements category? You could give up on telling those specs and replace it with "they are basically the same size". "Almost 1mm thicker" is just a difference you cannot see/feel in real world. I was a long time Android user and now I'm rocking the 930, couldn't be much happier with it.

    Nice comparison. I own Lumia Phones since 2011 and in terms of style there is simply no such thing.
    That myth with the WP-app-gap is simply ridiculous by now. If you don't rely on google-services (and hell, you simply don't need a g-mail account, outlook can do the job just as good), the build quality, cameras and look & feel of lumia devices is without competition.

    On the Lumia 830, when opening the new Lumia Camera app and you see the warning message : hit the back button on the phone, twice. This will bring up the app ton function normally and then, you'll be able to use it. It's a bug with the current firmware update.

    The Lumia 830 could record 4k (8.3mp) because it has a 10mp camera. The SD 400 doesn't allow that feature. And who would had thought we one day hear Jaime saying that a windows phone it's better at photography than an iPhone. Amazing.

    The only thing that irks me about Windows Phone is it seems that most of the time the selection available for sale is very limited. Microsoft's store seems to only have a fraction of the devices out there and the carrier exclusive phones never seem to be available on the phone company's websites...really they should do away with carrier exclusive models and do 100% unlocked and direct sales to consumers only.

  • @bigphatbandlover
    @bigphatbandlover Před 9 lety +1

    I absolutely love the design and functionality of the affordable Lumia 735. The only reason I'm still waiting to buy it is Lumia Camera 5. Until a month ago, only Pureview Lumias (830, 930, Icon, 1520) had this camera app with all the features (except 4K recording for 830), but then 640 and 640XL were announced, and we saw that both models have Lumia Camera 5 with rich capture and dynamic flash. Needless to say, neither 640 nor 640XL has a Pureview camera. So it's pretty unclear at this point which Lumias will get Lumia Camera 5 features and which won't.
    TL;DR: If 735 doesn't get Lumia Camera 5 with rich capture and dynamic flash, I'm going for the 830 (although the price difference is about €50 in my country).

    handling, durability... 830 has probably a bit better camera, pictures
    seem to be more appealing (hard to say why...), it has glance, it is better to handle in my opinion.

      exactly my point, price for 830 is just too high, add another 50-60$ and you can get a 930 (at least in my country) so if you want a lumia, it's either 730/735 or go for 930/1520.

      The 830 has things that your 730 doesn't have to justify the price difference.
      -Wireless charging
      -Higher megapixel camera
      -Optical image stabilisation (ois)
      -4g antenna
      -Bigger screen although same resolution
      -Aluminium body
      -Double the hard drive space at 16gb although both have sd slot
      - Dedicated camera button
      -Uses a nano sim card instead of micro
      -Glance screen
      -Dolby audio certified/better audio chip.
      Still though, your 730 is a great phone for the price! and has some of its own benefits like dual sim slots, 5mp front camera and has slightly better battery life... although they have the same battery.

    How are the speakers on lumia devices? If the app selection has gotten better on WP I might drop my M8 for one in the summer.

    • @TheDark-Knut
      @TheDark-Knut Před 9 lety

      Volume levels are adequately high but lacks clarity! M8 is still the best at that.

      bflaves123 if you're jumping to the Windows Platform, try getting the Windows Version of the HTC M8 :) And yes, the speaker quality is great!

      Keep the M8, it has the best speaker quality on the market and WP app selection still sucks

    I don't get it. My sister has got Lumia 735. Lumia Denim was out-of-the-box and Lumia Camera app is working great. I believe, that 735' screen is much better, than 830. It's also 720p, but 4,7' (PPI over 300) and it's AMOLED (without glance mode, which is also apparent on my fathers 920 with IPS display), which is gorgeous. 735 also use Snapdragon 400 and 1GB of RAM. There is only 8GB of storage, but you can use an SD card up to 128GB. In my opinion, a 735 is a better buy over an 830.

    • @bomcabedal
      @bomcabedal Před 9 lety

      The screen is a matter of personal preference of course - I greatly prefer the 830's IPS LCD over any AMOLED - partly because of my dislike of AMOLED's over-saturated colors, but also because of IPS's greater sharpness (because no pentile display). For me, that outweighs AMOLED's advantages (viewing angles and deeper blacks). Choosing between the 735 and 830 was a tough one, but I'm very happy with my 830 now. Apart from the screen, glance and a more pleasant form factor were what did it for me (FYI, at the time the 735 was 250 euros, the 830 just under 300 euros, and the 930 almost 400 euros in my country).

      sic22l It's crazy that the 520, 620, and 720 all have Glance screen but not the newer Lumias you mentioned.

      @sic22l Před 9 lety

      Muyanzi Reid It's not crazy, it's bisness. Displays with memory function are more expensive and they get even more expensive when your competitor wants to buy them.
