- There are very few occasions where Dutchies totally lose it. I can count them on less than one hand. 1. Kings Day. 2. Pride. 3. New Years.
But when they go full cake, they really go full cake 😂
Kings Day celebrates King Willem-Alexander's birthday 🎂 The whole country turns orange and hosts a massive party! You'll find children selling stuff, bands, DJs, and everything in-between. The canals are packed with people on boats, and the streets are packed with people on foot!

I stand to be corrected, but I think this is the only country that does something like this. It's genuinely wild and it feels controlled but also totally out of hand. Even all the jubilees in the UK would not compare to the madness that is Koningsdag.

For a lot of people it's less about the monarch, and more about the party (and the orange togetherness)
