This video was taken at the 2nd Firefly panel at Dragon*Con 2006. It is very poor quality and I was recording the big screen (because my seat was a bit too far to record him.
Sexy, sexy, sexy is right. I'm so glad to see some tribute to Wash (presented by 'Wash' himself). He's my favorite character ... I sobbed when he died - seriously, I was pathetic.
I love how, when he says "many are the men who have dreamed of possessing his romantical skills" he looks to Summer and say, "Yes, that is really in there."
I remember this. And he stopped by the wake that the South Eastern Browncoats for Wash and Book that night, too. He really was VERY funny at panel, & I'm so ticked I wasn't there to see him in the following years...
Joss killed Wash due to the show being canceled. He made an interview where he said that if Firefly came back, the events of Serenity wouldn't count so Wash and Book wouldn't have died.
I thought/think Zoe flashbacks having flashbacks would be good too. River hanging 'round the cockpit and picking up his flying skill would be neat. Other characters could have flashbacks also. Alan's funny. Summer's hot. Mabye her parents intended that pun.
I want to see the scene where she convinces him to shave the moustache. Maybe she threatened to throw away his Hawaiian shirt collection & then relented "but only if you shave off that lip warmer."
@FireBenderKwyna Alan: Do/Did you hear that?, Crowd: Yeah, Alan: It's raining?, Man in Crowd: It's the reavers, Alan: It's the reavers (laughs), Crowd: (laughs). Not sure what he says when he turns to Summer.
Buffy was set in a slightly different universe than Firefly. So there were plausible reasons within the context of the story atmosphere for someone to be brought back to life. Either the character was killed in an alternate dimension or they were brought back as a "hand puppet" for some evil thing. The only way you saw them again was in flashbacks or similar. As for Buffy, well, she's the titular character so it's kinda self defeating to kill her off, but her ressurection always made sense.
Like I said: it's up in the air, though I can agree with you on Mal. And thanks to Fox's idiocy, we'll never know the answer for certain. 'Tis sad, really. Firefly never deserved to be cancelled - it may not have been perfect, but it was more than enough for me - and their reasons for doing so only reinforce that opinion.
Whedon made sure to tell people in an interview that killing Agent Coulson was -not- his idea, and that he knew he would take the heat for it. Refer to this quote: “In our first meeting [Marvel Studios President] Kevin Feige said, this is what we’re gonna do and I said, ‘Oh, but you have to go out there and tell everybody that it was your idea because this is going to get me so much s**t. Because they are all going to be like, “Oh, he did it again!”‘ Whedon said.
That'd be neat. Joss wouldn't go for it though b/c the characters would be separate:it'd be 7 shows in 1 unless he retconned so characters brushed by each other earlier, had new in-between supporting characters who traveled between the main characters, or 'verse-wide events (meteor storm at every location). It'd be neat to find out what atrocity Book was a part of that he quite the alliance and sought God for atonement/cleansing.
Why not a movie or series set during the unification wars, find out what they all did during the war, where it took them, and what part they had in it. Who knows they made have even affected eachother without knowing.
I just don't know, you remember the canyon chase scene? Mal's good, but I don't think he'd be able to pull that off, even if he needed to. River though...there are just too many unanswered questions about her.
Only problem with killing off Wash is, who's going to fly Serenity now? The death of Wash must have been Joss's way of truly letting the show go, because without a pilot, Serenity could never fly, and Serenity won't fly for just any pilot.
I loved Wash and Book, but come on. Could you really respect Joss if he came up with another "Reset button" like every other cliche science fiction show out there? Where characters only die if the actor's contract is up or they walk out? No man, Joss Whedon is a guy who is known for killing off main characters and I love him for it.
@bazookoidben So Joss is a Fox network exec? Because they are the ones that cancelled the show. Also he created, directed and was the primary writer of that show, he is the primary reason it even exists in the first place, but he is the bastard huh.
Sexy, sexy, sexy is right.
I'm so glad to see some tribute to Wash (presented by 'Wash' himself). He's my favorite character ... I sobbed when he died - seriously, I was pathetic.
Damn .... miss the series terribly... welp time to put in the dvds in again.
I love how, when he says "many are the men who have dreamed of possessing his romantical skills" he looks to Summer and say, "Yes, that is really in there."
RIP Hoban Washburne.
Alan Tudyk is amazing. love love looove him. :)
and his sexy sexy sexiness. :)
AW! Alan is too cute! And funny!
Fantastic comedy by Tudyk :D
I remember this. And he stopped by the wake that the South Eastern Browncoats for Wash and Book that night, too. He really was VERY funny at panel, & I'm so ticked I wasn't there to see him in the following years...
splendid
Taken from us by Joss...the Bastard Weadon...
Curse you sudden but enviatble betrayal Weadon!
That was classic!
Plus, River was riding shotgun in the last scene of Serenity.
he asks if its raining and then someone in the crowd shouts out 'its reavers', thats when he turns to summer and says 'pitch a fit'
'Sexy, sexy, sexy' for damn sure 0-0
Agreed
It's been said, but I just love when the crowd decides that raining equals Reavers, and Alan tells Summer to 'pitch a fit'. XD
I have seen many funny things. This is definitely in my top 10.
lol I ♥d him on firefly and serenity and it's good to see him on DollHouse on occassion
nah, it was perfect.
Pitch a fit!
He says "Pitch a fit." Then he quotes Jayne "Girl's pitchin a fit, Mal."
man, i just watched serenity. this couldn't be more perfect right now.
''pitch a fit''
If they do make another movie I hope Joss would reveal how a pilot who is an expert on shadow puppets won the heart of Zoe?
BUt then we'd miss the line "Watch how I soar with this gaping wound in my chest."
Didn't know this existed. It's GREAT, always loved Wash/Alan Tudyk..
Joss killed Wash due to the show being canceled. He made an interview where he said that if Firefly came back, the events of Serenity wouldn't count so Wash and Book wouldn't have died.

Alan's funny. Summer's hot. Mabye her parents intended that pun.
RIVER! Pith a fit!
*Summer's all like "wtf?"*
sexy sexy sexy grief
Dude.. you answered your own question.. expert on shadow puppets!
not pathetic. Human. Shows how Joss likes to mess with the human emotions of his fans.
Book's death i can handle. But Wash so sooo awesome
I want to see the scene where she convinces him to shave the moustache. Maybe she threatened to throw away his Hawaiian shirt collection & then relented "but only if you shave off that lip warmer."
Same lmao
A funeral oration about the deceased.
Did you just say "Serenity now?" Because that's the only way I could get my rage to subside after Wash died. Serenity now! SERENITY NOW!!!!!

River could probably do it, or Mal. It's up in the air whether they'd be as good as Wash, though.
Like I said: it's up in the air, though I can agree with you on Mal. And thanks to Fox's idiocy, we'll never know the answer for certain. 'Tis sad, really. "'He was mostly brave--' MOSTLY brave?!"
lmfaoo!
crap this was at dragon con?! dang i was there that year and i didnt even go to this.. :(
@stephdoam A remembering of a deceased person at his/her funeral or other such procession

he told her to pitch a fit
what would'it be like living with him

i dunno...he managed it with buffy quite a few times, even with buffy herself.

Exactly... Joss killed off the character. That's what they're talking about here.
I loved Wash and Book, but come on. Could you really respect Joss if he came up with another "Reset button" like every other cliche science fiction show out there? Where characters only die if the actor's contract is up or they walk out?

V-balls
Yeah, Wash was one of my favorites too. Why'd they have to kill him off? :-(
Funny video though!
This is so great
I don't get the part when he says "It's raining?" and what comes next, but thanks, this is great
@Justin1976 I don't think Alan was being serious there. Plus even if Fox canceled the show Josh made the decision to kill of Wash in the Movie.
Wtf did he say 4:10 to 4:30???? PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME
@bazookoidben So Joss is a Fox network exec? Because they are the ones that cancelled the show. Also he created, directed and was the primary writer of that show, he is the primary reason it even exists in the first place, but he is the bastard huh.
:( Why couldn't he kill Kaylee!
