The Funny Fairmont needs to find a new home. The car was built from scratch and it is totally streetable. Check out the CZcams video showing Steve doing a walkaround and going for a drive. Interested parties can email Steve at hemimagneto@aol.com You need an altered wheelbase Fairmont in your life! Thanks for watching - Steve Magnante. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Your Fairmont could not have ended up in better hands. The SleeperDude has the skill set to both, finish the build, and then use the car as you intended. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
Hear, hear
I’m so sad to see you have to sell your things, but I’m just so glad that you made it through Steve! Things are just that, things, but we’re very lucky to still have you here bringing us your knowledge. 🙏🏼👍🏼✌🏼
Brought tears to my eyes ,, but, like everyone else, I am so happy that Steve survived the horrible infection.
So your post is about your sadness. Me me me me me.
@@dukeallen432 We are all saddened to learn he has to sell his things.
Steve, can we send you some financial help?
Mostly medical costs I expect. Steve Lives and will be able to get as close to his old self as possible. Rooting for you. 👍🙏🏻
We don’t know his situation he is just downsizing life caught up with him. Maybe 2 story house too much for Steve. He is just trying to simplify. Don’t know. 🤷♂️
don't be too proud to ask for financial help from us Steve and do NOT underestimate how much your fan base here appreciates you.
Well said!
He basically is I think, I wish I knew more about setting up a go fund me.
Good idea, although I might argue that given Steve's contributions to the success of the franchise... Barret-Jacksons ought to offer to foot all his medical bills... employment status not withstanding
The feeling isnt mutual or he would have the decency to engage with people on here.
@@robertyoung8289 Wow really?!? A man has medical issues and you kick him when he's down.
Why hasn't anyone started a GoFundMe page for this incredible guy!?!?!??!?
I had the same thought. If someone does, I'll donate!
@@brentfromsomewhere I will donate to the cause...Just let us know..
Me too!
It's sad.
I thought Barrett Jackson would have paid him very well
Do you know how to set one up? I will be happy to donate.
This should go to Barret Jackson, raise some decent cash to help with the bills.
Excellent Idea!!!! I would love to see that happen and the car community to step up to help Steve out. He has done so much for us car guys throughout the years.
This is a great idea! Glad to see you back Steve.
Agree 100%! I'm sure there are tons of fans who would love to help out Steve by bidding on his car!
Problem with that is shipping the car and auction has selling fees. Better to share in groups for like minded people.
He obviously has his pride...otherwise he'd have set up a go fund me long ago. I'm sure someone in his family has talked to him and he's said "Nah baby nah..." he looks good for what all he's gone through. I believe he'll bounce back to bigger & better things! AND 20K FOR HIS FAIRMONT IS A CHEAP PRICE!
Mr Magnante - we've all been thrilled to see you up and about. We're also saddened that you have to sell your things. Can you add a Thanks button here please? You've taught us a lot about cars, and the will to fight. Let us thank you with more than words ~ Chuck
He needs our help right away.
Same
I wil donate 10 bucks , i am from the netherlands
So sad Steve has to sell everything to probably pay for the astronomical nursing home bill hopefully he can recover and rebound and get his life back
I set up a gofundme, titled "Standing with Steve: Every Bit Helps"
@@nunya9555 This comment should be pinned. Just donated. Thanks for setting this up.
This Legend should not be separated from this car.
True, but he is also selling his house...This happens to many good people all the time..They have to sell their house because of an illness/medical bills etc...Selling a car is bad enough but your house! You would think some of his well to do friends would help set up something for him,but what do I know.
If there is some way I can send him some bucks, let know this is great guy we need to help out

@@mypronouniswtf5559 Sad folks jumping the southern fence are getting free health care but folks like Steve are having to sell everything. Thanks Biden for helping Americans. Biden= Americans last. Illegals first. Very sad.

I set up a gofundme, titled "Standing with Steve: Every Bit Helps"
This Car went to the absolute best guy to have it.
It definitely will live on.
Wishing you well Steve. I'm happy to see SleeperDude was able to purchase this car. it couldn't have gone to a better person.
Very cool (Sleeper Dude)Josh and his family bought this car. It went to a good home. Subbed cuz of his channel. Cool car.
If we all sent 5 or 10 bucks each, it would put Steve back in the black, without him having to sell off everything. Of coarse I'd have to send more, you know, Canadian money & all!
I just suggested a go fund me. I'm in
@@Bodgemiester Me too. Lets do this
I am in too.
haaa! I’m from Maine so we are kind of in the same boat lol!
seriously though I’m a grown ass man tearing up watching this man selling everything because he’s sick. We need to do something.
im in on go fund me. at least for a couple hundoe. G is in
@@Bodgemiester I would definitely be in, although I think it would be best for someone in the US to start it, since it would be going to a US citizen. The only outfit I won't deal with is Pay Pal. If you know of anything getting started, please let me know.
I’m so happy that this car went to Sleeperdude. He and his family are the perfect people to be the caretakers of this awesome car
That library probably should be In a museum
True that!

@@dwarfgrumpy That is great man!
That car is worth all of the 27k you have into it and more!! The history and documentation is worth so much. No one could reproduce that car today for anything close to that number. Don't let it go cheap
I was thinking the same thing. I live in Rockford Illinois and car's like that would sell in the $35,000 range
Somebody buy it and let him KEEP it. I wish I could but I can't. HELP HIM!
I feel for ya, Steve. I'm a year clean of Cancer and still very limited to what I can do. It sucks, but I got a wonderful 2 year Granddaughter to keep me occupied. I just tinker with the cars when I'm in the mood or when son comes over to give me a hand doing what I can't do anymore.
Love Ya, Brother and Prayers are still coming your way. Keep the Faith!!👍❤🙏
Good morning from Cape Cod ⛵ I just watched sleeper dude pick up the car, it couldn't be going to a better home Steve. I know times are tough but keep your chin up and life will only get better. My thoughts and prayers are with you Steve ✌️🇺🇲
We are so blessed to have you here Steve!!! This is incredibly hard to see you inching around...but yet so thankful you can still walk around and fire up cars and enjoy everything.
God Bless dude...and I hope you make a full recovery. ❤ You got this dude 💪😉🤘
"You Beautiful Bastard." Okay, well, I am just so happy to see you up and walking around. We are the same age, it always makes me smile to hear you talking about these old cars. Keep it up, you are moving a little better each day.
Hope you continue to improve. Sad state of the US when a health issue can ruin a person financially.
Sickening,no pun intended.
Where in the video did he say he was selling due to health care costs?
@@Big31sky
Steve states he has bills to pay in the comment section.
Spend some time in the hospital and rehab and find out how much you owe, even if you're insured.
This car is so cool, that injection is a show stopper. Best of luck with the sale, I’m so sorry that you’re having to let it go. I’m so glad that you’re still with us, Steve. I hope things continue improving and you can get back to what you love before too long
May God lift you up and heal you. Sometimes bad things happen to good people. You have many friends praying for your full recovery.
AMEN 🙏❤️💪
um, if god was real, why wouldnt he prevent this? praying? if god has a great plan, whats praying going to do?
Because God has a reason for all things, David.
Maybe Steve needs a closer relationship with God, and He's using this to get him to get a deeper walk with Him.
Read the story of Job.
GOD has a reason for allowing things to happen, David.
Just like a natural father sometimes has to allow his children to go through so unpleasant situations to teach them a life lesson.
Read the story of Job sometime, David.
God is real. Bad things happen. Because we live in a fallen world. Pray you never have to walk a mile in Steve’s shoes.
Thank God Steve is back
Praying every day for him
He's the reason I love cars
I am thankful you survived the encephalitis, Steve. Thank you for continuing to share your knowledge with us. I pray that your situation will continue to improve.
Hang in there Steve. You're an inspiration to many more than you realize. The car hobby needs you 100%.
This Fairmont is now part of hot rodding lore history. That alone should increase it's value.
I posted a comment a few minutes ago about this being unacceptable and letting the community help out and it seems to have been deleted? This community needs a way to give back to Steve for all the years of knowledge.
Agreed!
I created a gofundme and some folks are giving. It is my first time that site.

Frieberger does need this! C'mon Dave! Whaddya say? Help your buddy out!
I wonder if they get along? I thought their personalities clashed? Maybe that was just in the distant past.
@@grabasandwich I’ve never heard that. I can’t imagine either one of them having an enemy. I would think they’d be civil with each other just out of respect for what each one has done for the hobby if nothing else.
So happy to have you back with us, but honestly gutted that you have to sell off everything because you got sick - that is a damn shame. I hope the Funny Fairmont fetches a pretty penny at auction!
Makes me sad that a first world country treats its citizens like this. 😢
Someone who sees this video and has the means needs to give Mr. Magnante the same amount that he has in the car for his Funny Fairmont.
BARRETT-JACKSON should pay for your house.
They are not obligated but it sure would be an amazing thing for Barrett-Jacskon to do. Barrett-Jackson, please step up and do this wonderful thing.
I totally agree with you, those guys should step up and help him out. Doubt there hurting for cash.
Barrett Jackson are tooo greedy to help they probley want a commission they should auction his car for him no fees all proceeds going to Steve but bet BJ will just give lip service!
Damn right!
They should be ashamed of themselves for not supporting this man!
Steve, we miss your knowledge at the auctions and the wrecking yard insights on cars ! I hope you recover and get back in the game, you are missed !
Steve, please keep fighting - don't give up. You can make it back to the boneyards. I know what I speak of:
I broke my neck in 1982 and was completely paralyzed for 6 weeks - then began to move my toes. 9 months later I walked out of the hospital under my own power. It was another 3 years until I was up on crutches permanently. I got back into automotive, became a Master L1 tech, built a few cars, roamed tons of junkyards here in New England, then into road construction traffic management equipment, and finally back to automotive - all on forearm crutches.
We are very similar - same birth month and year, too. You can do this. Keep fighting.
You'll get better with time Steve. we are all pulling for you.
I’m just glad he’s walking around!
Love steve and his encyclopedic knowledge of hot rod history. Glad to see him getting better. This man is a treasure to the hot rod community.
Steve has a gofundme account set up now . Just a heads up to anyone that would like to help this man . Thank you !

I had bad Lyme encephalitis a while back, it's no joke, basically destroyed my body and mind. Glad to see you're making it through, it just takes time (yrs). Good luck with everything!
Steve. Material thing .come and go. Your still here ,that's all that matters. Welcome back
No your loss is our pain not gain. You will get through this I had a potentially fatal brain tumor in 2014 I wasn't supposed to survive the operation but I did. Medical bills were stacked on my dresser and I had to sell my home and what belongings I could to help with the unexpected financial challenge that accompanies such a substantial health event. Left Pennsylvania to go back home to Michigan to attempt my old job they called and I accepted needed to see if I could take care of myself after. Had my clothes and my GMC Envoy that was it, it all worked out took 5 years to get everything I lost or sacrificed back. It can be done I'm 1 year younger than you. Persevere Steve East Coast Americans are some of the mentally toughest people I have ever been around . there can be light at the end of that long tunnel .
I went through something similar to you both lost everything but I am getting a lot better and getting some of the things I lost back
@@kennethrine8171 It takes time and work. Just keep your state of mind good and focus on small improvements and progress 1 month at a time and don't expect to much to soon. Sounds like your on the right path to getting a sense of normalcy again . Good luck now and in your future. Life hits hard sometimes.
Steve I've been following you forever and I'm so glad to see and hear from you again sending prayers to you for a speedy recovery 🙏
I'm speachless. Facing reality can be a showdown of wills and wants. I'm glad you're taking appropriate moves to handle your next life chapter. I know you'll be around because your mind is still sharp and your speach is getting better every day. I also feel confident Barrett Jackson has an open door for you when your ready. Cheers mate. 🇨🇦

Steve, you could sell your car at Barrett Jackson. It’s an amazing car and you are a legend. It would bring big money at an event like that.

I would think Barrett-Jackson would pick it up and sell it for top dollar. If anything, as a courtesy.
That is a Great idea
Great idea!
They need to do more than that!
Why don’t they?
They don’t make enough money?
I agree with all your friends, I am sad that you have to sell off all your cool stuff. If I had $27,000 I would surely hook you up. You've done so much for so many over the years.
Sorry to see you’re selling your things. Your research library is a treasure that should be saved.
God bless you Steve. Material items are a part of what makes life interesting, but life is special. Thank the Lord you are still with us.

I remember the magazine build. Literally my favorite Fairmont in existence.
I still have my copy of Hot Rod Magazine when I was in school about Mash Bash. Librarian wouldn’t let me make a copy of it, and had to wait a month before I got the old copy. 3- years later, my a body is still in the pasture

Bless you Steve. I hope that as your health continues to improve that you will also be blessed with fortunes to ease your financial burden.
Sweet car. Crap , I didn't get sick but I am Steve's age and paying for my second wife still. I know the feeling lost everything twice in life but it was great starting over and getting a new life's start. Got rid of a 66 pontiac ragtop, and a two door hard top comet, also a sixty six. Plus a business and lots of tools and a house and life's sweat equity. Steve's a man, not a boy. I'm getting back on the horse right now and getting ready to ride it for another 8. Wish I had the cash, loved that car the day I saw it. Don't pity Steve. He's going to make his mama proud.
You have more friends than you know Steve. Hope you get what you deserve for your things.
Steve, do you have a go fund me? We dont want you to have to get rid of your treasures due to the medical bills. Alot of us dont have a ton to spend, but given your subscriber amount, im sure alot of us can get together to help however we can. We appreciate all you have done and all of your knowledge youve shared for years!
I set up a gofundme, titled "Standing with Steve: Every Bit Helps"
God bless ya Steve, you’ve helped keep me in cars when I was down , stay positive good sir. We still need your wisdom and love for cars here on earth , you and everyone at motor trend has kept me alive an help keep me positive at my times of doubt. I’ve sold things that I wished I never did. But that’s the way it goes sometimes thank you Steve!
If I had the funds I'd buy it and give it right back to him. I've seen people mention a go fund. I think that's a great idea.
I'll give my Ten Bucks, and if just half of the rest of you would give Steve 10$ as a "thank you" for all the years of great information, facts and fun with vintage vehicles, then Steve wouldn't have to sell this prized car, and he can keep his belongings instead of having to auction them off in order to sustain himself and pay off what I can only imagine to be staggering Medical Bills. This guy deserves it! Let's all band together and help take some financial stress of our Buddy Steve's shoulders. It's incredible to see what a community of like minded individuals can accomplish if they commit to a project. Let's get behind Steve and make this happen people!
If I was in any position to do it, I would buy this car and then hand it right back to Steve. Hard to imagine anyone else owning it.

This guy has been so awesome to watch for years. So just a thought could Barrett Jackson put it up and those who can help make sure he gets more then just in the teens for it.
I'm praying for you Steve to get better soon. I love your videos on old cars & trucks. F. Caruso
I wish you the all best. I hope you make a full recovery
I checked into starting a gofundme for Steve. I need his ok, etc. The fact Steve is doing ok now is just so great. I really like Steve's take on all things cars. I wish we could help him but perhaps having that car is just too much to maintain. Sometimes the expense and labor to maintain these vehicles is too expensive. He has to determine this. No one else can do that. I have a channel Steve. Contact me if you want to get this thing going.
Add $Thanks to your CZcams Steve so we can show you how awesome the car community is and will help you get through this journey you are not alone buddy!
In my mind , these things are priceless. Somebody is going to end up with a national treasure. Motortrend would do well to give you a show on a silver platter. I would pay for cable to watch it! Not really. I would watch it on CZcams after it aired. Looking good Steve. Life is rehab . Pain everyday. I mean train. Lol
I love the wheels! My dad had an original set on his mid 60s 1929 Ford Panel Model A hot rod! Very cool.
Positive vibes your way, Steve! I hope your treasures find good homes.
Steve is # 1 !!!!!
Damn, this is hard to watch. I hope you get what you need for this car, or even better, you find a way to get what you need without having to sell everything. Stay strong Steve, we're right here with you buddy.
Steve, I'm sorry you have to sell your cars and house. I'm so glad you made it through your ordeal. I just think its a crime that they can save your life and ruin it at the same time. You're a good man and you have my thoughts and prayers
