There was one time one of the main engines of a dc-10 suddenly exploded, the explosion didnt rip the engine apart but instead parts of debris shatters nearby windows killing one person as he/she could've been sucked out of the plane. the plane landed safely. Its National Airlines flight 27.

My grandpa used to be one of the chief of American Airlines maintenance at Tulsa international airport and worked on about every plane from every famous American Airlines crash from about 1985-2012
And yes he did work on the two American Airlines flights from 9/11 767-200 & 757-200

The cause of American airlines flight 191 crashing was due to the left engine separating during takeoff shortly after V1 speed the way they crashed was due to a poor maintenance protocol a few months before the crash as the person operating the forklift hit the engine too hard on the left cranium thus making a crack larger every time the aircraft took off sadly on this particular day the aircraft has crashed (in remembrance of all 223 passengers that died correct me if I'm wrong)

This is based on a true story. I don’t know what planet it was, but one of the propellers flew out of the motor and cut open the bottom of the plane, causing the pilots to have no manual control of the plane and barely any auto pilot control they were all OK though they landed fine though

The pilots actually had a role in the crash, the DC-10 can fly with 2 engines.. The pilots knew that but they did the wrong things
If the back engine was broken, then sure the plane could fly. But if a right or left engine detatches from the aircraft, there is a sudden weight imbalance caused by the absence of the engine. Not only that, the video also says there was a hydraulic failue along with maintenance problems.
If a hydraulic failure is caused, the pilot could not only lose the ability to retract landing gears, but also lose maneuverability and control of the aircraft ENTIRELY

This was the second failure of the DC 10, the first failure occurred from the doors, the second from the engine
So, american flight 96 was also a dc 10 which its cargo door was ripped and they managed to land it, maybe from how big the hole or impact was? THY 981's hole grew until the back of the cabin.

This wasn’t a design flaw. This was from American Airlines cutting corners on maintenance and not following the rules put out for maintenancing the plane.
