A report by a German civil liberties group has flagged setbacks to press freedom in some European countries. The report says that media freedom is "close to breaking point" in several nations. While EU nations have spent years lecturing others on press freedom, this report shows that all is not well with the continent's own news media. Public service media in countries like Hungary have virtually been captured by the government. There are also reports of physical harassment and snooping operations on European journalists. What is the European Union doing to fix this issue? Should the EU stop its lectures on press freedoms until it can put its own house in order? Palki Sharma tells you.

one. The New York Times, probably the most respected newspaper in the West, has just been found to have been instructed by its Jewish
owner, how they should write about the Gaza conflict, tecommending them which wording to use when writing about Israel's crimes
compared to Hamas crimes ... but let's be honest, you are also not allowed to write about many things as they are, aren't you ?
Press freedom does not alone dictate how biased the media can be. You can be the most free media out there without receiving any money from big corpos/government or having shareholders and still spew a heavy bias.
Eu media mostly isn't owned by the americans that's the most oblivious lie out there. You can spew woke ideology and take "inspirations" from their media without being owned by them. Western media is still more free than their eastern counterparts, that doesn't mean that They won't falsify or missrepresent topics just because they're free because they have done so. After all Money is on the line, a jorno wont write an article that its company wants because they have a gun pointed at him, but because he will get paid to write the article they want.
Definitely appreciate the report over the europe. But before why can't we see it in our homeland first? It would be great if there's some kind of assessments here as well as everyone is aware please bring it. Thanks!

We're not perfect however each party has their own media house and they do what they want. There are cases where journalists are illegally arrested by state governments and courts will decide it fair and square.

No, - press freedom is dire in India. You get no ads plus pressure from Govt if dont work acc to Govt. If you report negatively or ask Qn you will get fired from mainstream Indian Hindi channels. Upper limit is getting jailed. ( U.P mid day meal case)
