I told my lady I was a pro lighting up a grill. I was lying of course 🤣🤣 but I ran across your video before I started & it worked like a charm🙌🏽 Thanks!
Excellent 👏👏👏
Here’s a protip: after brushing the grill, grab a rag dipped in olive / vegetable oil with the tongs and wipe the grill grates. It will clean the soot off and keep anything from sticking.
Agreed, this is something I do. But this series of videos is geared towards the absolute beginner. One step at a time my friend.
I stopped using metal bristled grill brushes over 10 years ago when I accidentally swallowed a metal bristle while eating my steak! Since then, I have never let a metal bristled bbq brush near my bbq!
Here’s a tip… get rid of that metal brush, it can leave behind metal shavings on the grill that can get stuck on your meats and then gets stuck to your intestines!!
Sure, if you use an old janky metal brush. I wouldn't recommend using one of those. If you keep your brush in good condition, it's not gonna fall apart and leave bristles on your grill.
I use neither lighter fluid or a chimney. A simple starter cube, I go with cheap sawdust and beeswax cubes, in the middle of the pile. Light it and wait 10 minutes or so.
That's a perfectly good way to go 👍
Little tip. Try a charcoal chimney. No tainted flavour from lighter fluid.
I'll be doing a video with a charcoal chimney also. Not everybody/everyplace has one. Just about everywhere has lighter fluid though. 🤷♂️
exactly, lighter adds a horrible flavor yuck
@@fullvaluetv you're absolutely correct, took me a few tries to locate one locally, BUT I'm so glad I did.
I will say, when you start your charcoal, in a chimney, let it get fully lit and ashed over on your top coals. Otherwise you get a smokey flavour to your food, that isn't the good type of smokey flavour.
Seems to me the fluid would burn off pretty quickly..🤔
Thanks. Cause I had no clue. Now I do 😊
Glad I could help!
Oh, wow!! Thank u!! Short and straight to the point.
You’re very welcome
Thank you so much I just watched this video right before a wedding today and you saved my life it turned out really good since I followed these instructions to a T. I also flipped the burgers every 3 minutes figured I'd also add that in here
👍
Finally a video that doesn't include that stupid charcoal chimney. I'm taking a portable hibachi on a trip I don't have time to pack that chimney and everything else. If I'm grilling at home and I switch to charcoal I might eventually try out that chimney thing but I just want to know from years of old memory how to light a quick grill
Glad it helped you out!
Here’s a tip: get a charcoal chimney fire starter, super easy and you don’t need lighter fluid.
Also, if you are going to use lighter fluid (not recommended), then make sure your coals are completely gray before starting your cook to ensure the lighter fluid is burned off. I used lighter fluid once, was impatient and only waited until my coals were mostly gray, and then my chicken came out tasting like the lighter fluid :(
This is a beginners video. I've got others. 👍
I appreciate you telling us of the correct time to clean the grill.
You bet
straight to the point. I loooove it. thank you!
You're welcome!
You saved me my first memorial day as a dad thank you brother 👌🏽🥲
Happy to help! I've got other videos up with other techniques too. Congrats on the new kid 🍻
Used this years ago & it definitely works
👍🏼
It did help! Thank you!
Happy to hear this!
Thank you very much this really helped we tried for hours but in the end this method worked
Great 👍
Great video! Keep em coming. Respect 🎯💯
Appreciate that
Thank youuuu very helpful
You're welcome!
Helped a lot . I’m going to begin grilling ✅💪
Glad to hear it!
Such a perfect help .. thanks for this good advice
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you!!
You're welcome!
Thanks I appreciate now Ik had no clue
Glad I could help
Simple, clear and straight to the point, love it 🥰
Thanks 😊
You helped me so much!!!!
I'm happy to hear it! Have a great weekend😎
Just what I needed
Great to hear! Happy grilling!!
Wooow...lots of negativity here. Thank you so much for breaking it down!!! Sent this to a friend who needed a visual vs. my verbal instructions and it worked like a charm. The king of keeping it simple 🤴
Glad it worked out. Thanks for the kind words, keep on grilling!! 👍🏼
Thanks bro. Going to start grilling this summer. Big help.
Hope your summer grilling goes well!
Thank you 😊
You are very welcome!
Cleaning the grill grate prior to emptying the old ash is my go-to. Lighting up exactly like you perfectly explained. Then placing the freshly oiled grate over the "hot" coals. Some people use PAM I've found there are times when there's stubborn stuck on food from last bbq on the grate. Didn't you just hate that? IT'S no fun scrubbing over hot coals. Especially when your peeps are hangry😂
🤔IPerhaps I'm the only one that oils her grill🤔
I like to use avocado oil
Quick tip, use an onion cut in half or a ball of aluminum foil instead of a brush, even a new brush will leave behind bristles for all your guests to enjoy.
If you have an old janky brush, sure that's an issue. New one? Good to go. Like anything. Inspect your equipment regularly.
I like to put on my charcoal to one side and cook with indirect Heat I will use the charcoal to sear the meat but I will cook on the other side
Yup!
Very very nice I learned yesterday for Memorial Day but this video was perfect length and no extra talking good video to learn from
♨️😊🍻
Thanks man!
No problem 👍
helpful!
Glad you think so!
I used to do it this way until I was taught the cleanest way. All natural lump wood charcoal and a tumbleweed fire starter underneath a chimney. Briquettes have chemicals in them plus the lighter fluid is not good for your health especially for someone who grills often like myself. Even if you wait till the briquettes are solid white and everything “burned off” it’s still getting into your meats even if no off flavor. (The white color isn’t from ash it’s from grinded lime stone, not good look it up) Not judging anyone hey do what you do just saying if you grill often and want to make sure your food is chemical free, natural is the way to go.
This is a beginners video, lump charcoal is great once you get the hang of things.
How long do you wait to start adding the meat on the grill?
I usually wait about 5 minutes so that the grill gets nice and hot that'll help prevent sticking. If you feel comfortable doing it - you can use a rag and put some olive oil on it and wipe that on the grill with tongs holding the rag, to prevent sticking as well.
Thanks
No problem
Quality video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Stupid question! 🙋🏻♂️ are the bottom air vents opened or closed when you first light it?
Open!
I use a chimney starter so I do not taste the lighter in my food. Just wad a couple pieces of newspaper on the bottom, pour the charcoal in and light the newspaper. About 10 minutes the coals will be red and hot.
Honestly though, who has newspaper? I have a whole Nother video using a chimney though, for people that prefer that method.
Well that's a no brainer😂😂😂😂
Indeed
❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Helped. Thank you.
You’re welcome 😊
use a split onion to clean your grill next time! Plus you won’t have to worry about iron bristles left behind
Bristles being left behind is only an issue if you use a janky old grill brush.
It's been like 30mins and my charcoal never got into that ashy color. Just tips of it.
Also, after you put the match and fire flames come up, do you close the lid or leave it open the whole time til it gets ashy looking ?
Lid off. Another great way to start your charcoal if you can afford more gear is a charcoal chimney! I have another video using this method.
TWO SECTIONS ONLY. GOT TO HAVE AN INDIRECT SIDE
Depending on what the cook is, but yes, most times I do have an indirect heat side!
Thanks, Daddy ❤
👍
Thanks dad
You're welcome 🍻
liked and subscribed 👍🏾
Thanks
Didn't know they still made lighter fluid
Yep
Ig half of these people don’t really grill cause anyone know if you do use lighter fluid to let it burn for 10 mins or so and the light fluid taste is gone
Agreed, but I do have a whole other video where I use a chimney.
Lol I red the instructions on the charcoal bag says to use after they grey
@@1krazyking normally I let ‘em burn tell they ice over (turn white)
@@marshallscates12 yeah, I grilled today for the first time came out so good chicken shawarma.
Dicen que lo Mejor es Limpiarla cortando una cebolla ala Mitad y limpiandola la parrilla
Las cebollas son buenas, pero no a todas les gusta la cebolla.
I’ve been struggling for half an hr already and still no luck 😔
Oh no!
clean the grill with an onion
That works for some folks for sure
Negative... the semi black coals still have lighter fluid in it.. the soot from the lighter fluid is tainted on the grates which go on the food. use a chimney thats all you need
Sure, a charcoal chimney is a fantastic option, but this is a starter video for people who have never barbecued before and may not want to invest in more stuff than they can reasonably afford. You know like college kids and stuff.
Stop paying attention as soon as he said to use lighter fluid 😂
Awe, thanks.
Potatoes work amazing as a non stick solution as well. Just cut a potato and rub the grill with it. Natural.
Interesting. Haven't heard this one before.
You don’t need lighter fluid ( not good for you or the taste of whatever you’re grilling)many different options to get charcoal burning without it
Sure, this is a beginner level video, I've got other videos using other options.
I was hoping this to be some sort of joke but no, he really used lighter fluid. Guess some people like that weird chemical taste on their steak.
Mmm, chemical taste 😆😊.
i love the taste of lighter fluid
I'll be doing a test video later this summer to see if people can actually tell the difference between a gas grill vs charcoal chimney vs lighter fluid.
I would never use lighter fluid 🙈
👍🏼
I use alcohol sometimes don’t know if that’s any better though lol
Certainly works!
What about the grills that have a vent in the front and back.... Do I close the vents when I put the meat on? Idk what I'm doing 😂
Leave those open.
Just saved me a bottle of lighter fluid.
😎
Give it A link in description of that liquid You Applied on charcoal
www.kingsford.com/products/grill-accessories-and-storage/charcoal-lighter-fluid/?gclsrc=aw.ds
Only GenZ's would use lighter fluid. Actual men know how to light a BBQ without chemicals.
Thanks for the compliment lol
So what I need is a grill, charcoal and what do you call that liquid in English, you put on the charcoal at the beginning?
Kingsford 71175 Charcoal Lighter Fluid Bottle, 32 oz a.co/d/cFeRgR7
if you like the taste of lighter fluid on your meat. yeah absolutely do this. all you need is a charcoal chimney and light a piece of crumpled paper underneath
As mentioned in many prior comments, not everyone has the space, money or knowledge to use a charcoal chimney when they first start grilling. I have a video showing how to use a charcoal chimney too. There's also the argument to be had that if you ash over the charcoal properly and don't use too much lighter fluid, you don't taste it at all. 🤷♂️
shiiii bro...... i hope you're fuckin winning in life. Thank you!!!!!
🍻
I recommend using alternative methods other than liquid fuel
The food will taste better and you can cook sooner
I've got other videos showing alternate methods.
Never, EVER use lighter fluid.
Now I'm gonna have to buy a new bottle just for you 😆
so,, just do what the instructions on the bag say? got it.
👍🏼
Lighter fluid is for amateurs
That's exactly who I was posting this video for. Not everybody is a grill expert.
But my fire goes out after 30 seconds. I have to keep throwing lighter fluid
Your charcoal briquettes may have moisture in them, or there wasn't enough fuel used. Hope you get it worked out!
Will your food taste like lighter fluid after cooking?
Not unless you use a half bottle of the stuff. Let it burn off and you are good to go. Ultimately a better way is using a charcoal chimney, and I have another how to video showing that option.
Lighterfluid.... enjoy that taste! I'll stick to natural
Mmm mmm good! 😎
What you spray
That's lighter fluid. I have other videos using different methods to start the fires.
Never ever use lighter fluid yuk. A charcoal chimney is the only way
It's a video for beginners. Fwiw lighter fluid isn't the end of the world.
Am i the only one that uses a huge chimney starter
Nope, i got one too. This is just a video for people starting out.
Thank you. I'm new to grilling.
You are welcome!
Oh! You put the coals on before you pour the lighter fluid. I've been doing it wrong all these years.
Yup
No one uses lighter fluid these days. Seriously.
Not true, but sure 🤷
Buy a looftlighter. Your food won't taste like it's been marinated with lighter fluid
I actually have a video using one of those, terrible device. And also if you use just a little bit of lighter fluid, it does not taste like your food has been marinated in it. That's a myth. On top of all that, I have another video where I show folks how to use a charcoal chimney.
Do I leave the top off?
If you put the lid on directly after lighting, it will smother the fire.
I've had a small BBQ in a box for about a year. 😅Never taken it out to put it together. After looking at your video I feel confident enough to put it together and get myself grilling. Thanks!
Good to hear!
Firewoiod and waxed fruit box + paper. No chemicals.
Interesting
I heard the lighter fluid effects taste of food🤔?
Depends on the type of fluid you use and how much. Another option is using a chimney- check out that video on my page. Happy grilling 🍻
Yes, this is how you do it if you Wanted your food to taste like diesel , lite them with a propane torch you can start cooking immediately and you don’t have any diesel kerosene JP eight jet fuel or charcoal lighter flavor or just keep doing it and wonder why your kids have extra chromosomes
This is one of the more ridiculous comments on this video. Thank you for contributing your thoughts though.
My stupid charcoal lit but couldn't stay lit
Damn. Sorry to hear that. Check out my charcoal chimney video!
Try using lump coal , a chimney. Lighter fluid and bricks are gross
Eh, whatever. Depends on what you're cooking. Happy grilling 🍻
No.
Yes.
If you're using fluid you're wrong.
If you don't like fluid, watch my chimney video
Lighter fluid is nasty. Learn to start a fire with a chimney. Your family will thank you
I have videos using multiple things for starting charcoal briquettes.
sir may i know which company BBQ Grill this is please
It is a Weber Kettle
It is a 22 in Weber kettle
Please use a charcaol chimney and a grill lighter next time.
I've got a whole separate video showing people how to do it that way as well. This is a video for beginners. Not all beginners have the money to start out with every single gadget there is.
Never use lighter fluid rookie
lol
Everyone with the “no lighter fluid” stfu 🙄
Forreal
Where's the wood!
I use lump for other cooks for sure!
i must be a damn failure cause i follow these exact same steps and the flame just dies and the charcoal never gets gray
Don't be hard on yourself. I have another video where I use a charcoal chimney to start it, maybe that'll work better for you. czcams.com/users/shortsxGoUK09fcaM?feature=share
@@fullvaluetv Thank you brother. I will invest in a chimney
Good luck and good grillin'!
Use a chimney never use starter fluid unless you want your meat to taste like it
I’ve got a video using that method to
Watched a 20 min vid of the science behind this shit and he explained it in 1 THANK U LOL
Appreciate you
