Texas fans: we ran the Big-12 Also Texas: won in 2009, didn’t win it again until 14 years later. Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Baylor, TCU, Kansas State all won before Texas could win it again.
Texas never ran the Big 12. Nebraska and Kansas State were the best teams in the Big 12 when it started, then Bob Stoops turned OU around and dominated for the longest time. The only time that Texas was objectively the best team in the conference was when Vince Young was there.

I got mad respect for Saban but every time his Alabama team played The University of Texas he struggled. He’s 0-1 against Texas starting QBs and the 2 other wins were nail biters, even the national championship back in 09. The score doesn’t give justice to how close the game really was. Go see what the score was with 3:30 left in the fourth quarter. The true freshman Garett Gilbert turned the ball over 5 times. If you think Colt McCoy would have turned the ball over 5 times you’ve lost your mind.

After failing in the PAC, at top programs, one good season at Texas, after some rough ones, we think Sark is a great coach? I don't know but it is reasonable to think he is unproven?
If you look at how the team and program has improved every year since he got to Austin it's not unreasonable to think he has them headed in the right direction. Good enough to at least compete in the SEC and that's all anyone can ask for.
