- Myself, @baldandbankrupt and @TimKyoutube headed south in Vietnam but in order to get there we had to take an overnight sleeper train. It was for 14 hours and cost $50, would you take this train? 🇻🇳

True about the editing, I was just taking videos of my travels not thinking that I would someday Vlogg on youtube, but now I've got a go pro and DJI with gimble so now I have to work on my editing! i hope to get a lot better!

That train was bloody luxury compared to the one I went on 10 years ago. The toilet consisted of just a hole in the floor back then.
hi Vietnamese here, I've been on this type sleeper train before. I went on a school trip with my class and the coach we were in only had 4 beds per cabin, so it was more peaceful and it's definitely better to be in one with people you know than random strangers. also the black knob above the outlet is the announcer volume control, I also messed with it on our trip cuz me and my mates thought it was to adjust the AC....
we were all bombarded with train stop announcements the whole night. though I'd travel on it again, it's pretty fun to go with a big group and book a whole coach for your group.
the toilet there is definitely not fun.
I don't know why you guys don't travel with earplugs. It's safe enough to use them since you're in a safe country and not solo. The malleable silicone ones for swimming are the best. Literally the third thing of things to bring for me when traveling after passport and credit card.

You definitely should have gone for the sleeper bus not the train hahaha - the snoring bit had me in stitches 😂 The sleeper buses in Vietnam are amazing
Train are not bad If you are not being cheap , go for the 4 bed more expensive but it great if you are in group of 3 or 4 , here they just being cheap and op for 6 bed room 😂

I once flew business class (!!!) from Beijing to Frankfurt by a Chinese airline, and a drunk Chinese businessman in my row was snoring just like that for the entire flight. He passed out as soon as we got in and began roaring mad. The crew apologised but ignored all our pleas to wake him up. His wife kept smiling apologetically but did absolutely nothing to stop his snoring. Good thing I had noise cancelling earphones, had to sleep while blasting music into my ears… I still don’t understand why the crew chose to let him go like that for 12 hours straight.
You. should have taken matters into your own hands and woke him….his useless weak wife probably too used to it.

@@gappuma7883 yes, but you should not be able to relax if you're the one who snores? Anyway I'd still rather pay 3 times the price of an economy seat to be in business with a snoring person in the cabin than economy without.
A great video, thank you very much! I remember those sleeper trains in Vietnam well. If you buy your tickets earlier the same day, or the day in advance, you can by chance get the lower bunk beds. In summer season sleeping in the upper ones can be really torturing. For travels I always take earplugs and eye-covers with me, as the snoring or the keep-the-lights-switched-on roommates are more than abundant throughout the world.

Was on that same type of old school sleeper train in Vietnam. Had the top bunk also and froze all night from the AC. Also thought the train was gonna go off the tracks at times, had to hold on to the bar so I wouldn’t fly off the bed.

Nothing like my private sleeper on my trip out to Portland ,OR. Thats quite a climb to the top, but interesting. That snoring could wake the dead.

I came across this video after watching Bald and Bankrupt. I liked your style Ben so i subscribed.
Did it a few years ago from Hanoi to Hue..... the train was ok but the noise from the aging rails was a bit of a nightmare!

Added in or not, the snoring had me tearing up laughing!!!! And those hats are awesome! I've got one and wear it hiking, fishing etc. Light, good shade and doesn't make your head sweat!! But yeah, people laugh seeing me wear it!

I went on an Indian sleeper train and the toilet was just simply a hole where you could see the ground whilst the train was moving. The journey wasn’t that bad mind you.

@@BackpackerBen haha i am vietnamese and i have to admit that vietnamese trains are very bad, the price is more expensive than going by plane but long time , only suitable for the distances of about 200km and shorter if there is no choice other

Three people on a horrific sleeper train at $50 each, or $150. For about twice that, you could have pooled your funds and hired a private car with a driver. You would have been able to travel during the day, make stops, see sights and film more content. You could have made some of the money back by staying in a somewhat less swanky hotel in Nha Trang. There are probably some far cheaper places near the beach. I lived in Vietnam for 10 years and always ate cheap and saved money on lodgings. But I would never take their buses or trains which are all levels of awfulness, as you experienced. Always hire a car.
That train was the worst experience of my life 😂
They play that loud music when the train is about to be at the end of the line. It wakes everyone up to get their stuff in order. Makes things go smoothly. Guess its easier than going room by room personally.
Now I see why Ben was having a hard time in Vietnam.
