    I can’t believe this is the official method for subtitling. the framework and API for text to speech has been out there for a while, and we’re expected to type the whole video out instead? And where’s the transparency? Last update we got nearly a year ago said that this was coming at the end of 2021 as a paid update, but instead we get a new theme and left in the dark.

      Advanced subtitles is a feature we currently have in development. We don't want to release anything half complete and development can be somewhat unpredictable, so we don't have a release date to share just yet. We are working hard though and plan to release it in a future update.

    • @RileyLinch
      @RileyLinch Před 2 lety +2

      @@LumaTouch why has it taken a year? Why has no one thought of the idea of using a subtitle file (so we can use the adobe suite to write it for us)? Is implementing importing a text overlay to span across the timeline too unpredictable? I’m sure it’s really hard for you to replicate products in this industry that are much older, but when this is how we are told to do subtitles (you can’t just import another app’s file as we wait for it to be fully complete) is just infuriating and disappointing.

    When filming my golf tutorials I make note of the angle of shadows objects are casting and match it with the angle of the drop shadows I add to the text. Shadows at 45° from mid-morning / mid-afternoon sun being ideal for creating the illusion of 3D shape on objects and what is used by cartographers when depicting mountain relief on maps. They just draw the shadows the relief would cast at 2PM in the afternoon and the human brain uses the shape of the shadows to perceive via the relative length of the shadows the relative elevations of the terrain.
    The convention of always using an imaginary sun at 45° downward / forward angle makes the perception of elevation map-to-map more consistent, so if not trying to match the angle of the sun in a video 45° (pointing to 4:30 on watch face) is a good choice.

    Hi Caroline.
    I've just found this and it looks good.
    I noticed when you were demonstrating how to create this and the text was covering two lines.
    Would it be a good idea when only writing one line of text to finish typing with a lot of spaces so that it pushes it up a line and then is on the top line like the rest of the text when you start reading them.
    just a thought and I haven't tried it yet.

    Another very helpful video! Thank you! (And just a suggestion, if I may: You may want to add a sentence advising people to make sure the location they chose for their text doesn't block something important from the screen. You never know. For example, in your soccer clip, I'd be careful to make sure that none of the frames have something important on the screen at the spot where you put the text, and I'd go a bit into the options of what to do if that would happen.)

    • @abc_13579
      @abc_13579 Před 2 lety +1

      Actually, you did mention it - at the very beginning. You said you'll move the text to the bottom of the screen so it won't cover any "exciting action" in the video. The point I was trying to make was to double check it when you're done - to watch the whole video from the beginning to ensure you didn't block anything. It's not enough to put it at the bottom of the screen on the assumption it won't block anything if it's put there, as you never know...

The memory on my iPhone is almost full and I need to move them to the SSD, but I suspect that my projects will no longer work, once I move the video files (according to your tutorial about working off an external drive).

    Hey Caroline and LumaFusion team,
    Greetings!
    Loved this smart move of the subtitles! Proved to be helpful! You can watch it how I have used it at 03:39 in the following video : czcams.com/video/zZmiRKKczGo/video.html
    Thanks once again! :)

    Of you guys can figure out a way to add support for srt files like every other “real editing software” but seems like you guys can’t be asked. I really think LumaFusion has so much potential, I really want to love it but it’s small things like this which stop me from being able to use it in my workflow

      Thanks! And that's in the works right now. We're currently working on an Advanced Subtitles feature.

      @@chr1staki Yeah. Descript is great for that too. Ideally, I'd love for a Descript x LumaFusion integration.

      Our advanced subtitles feature, that's currently in development, may have some of the capabilities you're looking for.
