Thank you for sharing this, I found the "anti-face Reveal" segment interesting. Remember you have free speech! You are obviously a good guy.
Yeah, the face reveal, jump on camera will happen at some point. Just need to tidy up my digital footprint of really controversial Cities Skylines content, and then do a Digital AUDIT, then speak to my lecturers. Because they did also strongly advise to be present on Social Media, like in LINKEDIN groups and have a public profile showcasing your talents. But I do feel, that SOME of my content warrants a face for content emphasis - like the autism series - but the Mapping and UP series, do not warrant it!
@@cityplannermismanages As an autistic person who has taken an unconventional route since high school, I find the workings of the schooling system quite fascinating. Currently, I am deeply interested in history. Since February, I have read and listened to around 50 history books and podcasts.
P.S. If you're using Windows, try pressing Shift + Ctrl + Windows Key + Alt + L.
Oh. Haha, LinkedIn
I think it's great that you're so passionate about city planning, a career that fits your passion would also be extremely profitable
Yes. It fits like a perfectly snug glove
Congrats on completing your first semester! You're smashing it!
Thank you so much!!
My friend sent this to me and without looking, I thought this was a big account with a lot of views. I got a huge shock seeing that it only had 140 views! Really good video - from one autist to another, it's really fun to watch (mainly your voice being clear and the visuals not being overwhelming). And it's city planning! Really interesting stuff, keep it up :3
thank you! Thanks to your friend too for recommending the vid.
honestly ur so good at talking abt your uni n stuff that if you wanna join a club maybe whatever club runs campus tours for incoming freshman n stuff would be the best
A great suggestion, thanks
Take a look at Jakarta, Indonesia. This is a city that suffers with no meaningful city planning and an enormous amount of urban sprawl. The traffic in this city makes it extremely miserable to live or work or even visit, especially with no useful public transportation. Cities like this are in desperate need of help.
Same story as Metro Manila, we need help as well. Policy makers here is as self interested and short sighted as they can be.
You made me question my decision to take Environmental Science, I should've taken urban planning, it's so cool, you're cool!
Thanks. I'm sure Enviro Science is pretty cool, at least the sustainability side will be great. But in the long term you will probs get paid more than a city planner. Avg City Planner wage in Australia is only 90k (which is just around Sydney's median)
Another phenomenal video!
YAY! 🎉😊
Good job on making it through the first semester! Sounds like quite an academically challenging experience but you seem to have done well!
I spend a lot of my time in a closed friend bubble, so I don’t usually experience whatever is going on outside. How wonderful to hear that people are still not mature enough even at uni. Well, stay well!
Oh it is! The LAW one is next semester. EEk! Ty for watching
NO!!! Never "clean it up" just stay anonymous dont let the past be hiden because some of those were your best videos
For ur first semester u really acquainted urself well and made use of ur resources to make sure u wouldn't fall behind good job. u will most likely meet some of the same people a few times in different courses so i recommend u don't make things weird or unfriendly. It's ok to make friends slowly in rooms filled with so many people it naturally feels like everyone is a lone wolf vs highschool where the class vibes with each other. Group assignments will come don't worry. Goodluck
Thanks. There is groupwork this semester, and I'm trying my best not to be too weird.
this is amazing, trully the coolest teachers
Great video
I am currently in 2nd semester in Germany. Kinda interesting to see a completely different approach, to the way I have been thought so far. We already had our first project, about a campus expansion, in which we had to hand draw all maps and perspectives. GIS will only be introduced next semester. Greetings 👋🏻
Hand drawn maps sounds awesome!
Wow, you're doing great! There's always one or two classes that are hard, but you're handling them, so no worries. This kinda makes me miss my school days. College is definitely better than high school! Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thanks Julie. I do wonder how different USA college is compared to AUSTRALIA. And yes, the hard classes - just happy to get through them. Ty for the support
I'm on summer break after freshman year. Most of my friends are from my second semester, not my first. It's very easy once you realize that most of your classmates also want to make friends.
Oh Phew - that is so good to know.
Wish I had taken more time choosing the subjects. Urban planning sounds so interesting!
Which uni course did you choose? Can you go back?
@@cityplannermismanages philosophy but sadly my university doesn't offer urban planning courses
Wow what uni is this looks nice
Very interesting video
thank you
Good job mate! Hope second semester is good
cool to see another autistic person studying planning! (I'm more in transportation planning than anything else lol but close enough) I've honestly been surprised by the amount of nd people in my program
Yeah, there's quite a few. Maybe that's why its been hard to make friends - all too shy right now.
I'm also autistic and starting an Urban Studies degree in the US this autumn.
Oh nice. Do you have any idea what area you want to specialise in. *** Praying it's not CAR-CENTRISM *** I'd be interested to see what stance US Uni's take on Cars Vs Human
@@cityplannermismanages I'm certainly not prioritizing cars lol. Fortunately I live in one of the most bikeable cities in America. I actually want to either be a transportation planner and improve the transit network or a cartographer, aka making MAPS!!! One of the professors is an urbanist and writes a monthly column on my city's biggest issues. I'll probably have him in my 2nd or 3rd year.
Nice. Sounds like a cool professor
*THAT* was really interesing.
i wish you good luck!
When I was in college I refused to use Turn-it-in. My argument was that the company charged schools for their service which is entirely composed of students' intellectual property, for which they don't compensate us. My argument was persuasive. I submitted my papers to my professors, complete with my research material and drafts. (And a big copywrite statement on the report). While plagiarism is a huge problem, big businesses should be making profits off the work of honest students.
BTW, when you mentioned the clubs in this video, did you say "furries"?! 😍
Turn-it is FR my ARCH-NEMESIS. It thinks it's the main character. I gulp and dread everytime see the RED flag get raised. I wish I had your skillset to take my uni on about it. But apparently, they must be reasonable with it, because another student had 36% and the uni didn't care. OH YES, there is a furries club.... and not any furries club. It's a ND furries club.
Great, informative video! Your new editing style is also cool. Btw congrats for completing your semester
Im also an Australian with autism, I did a year and a half studying geography before I decided urban planning is where I want to be and what I love so I have transferred to an urban and regional planning course. GIS was also a struggle for me but I ended up getting ok marks and I'm quite proud of myself! I'm so excited to start urban planning later this month, many of my units sound quite similar to yours and this video has made me even more excited! it's very nice finding a community of people who are neurodivergent and passionate about urban/city planning too
I'm SO SO SO happy that you are switching to Urban Planning. GIS does very tough. My advice, start that subject first, do those assignments before anything else. Plus, if you do SKETCH UP - prepare for your PC to MELTDOWN - the specs required for SKETCH UP make Cities Skylines 2 look like a junior. Maybe one day, we might cross paths and work in the same Planning Office or for URBIS - seems URBIS is the place to be. And YAY for AUTIST CITY PLANNERS.
@@cityplannermismanages haha thank you :D I've wanted to start urban planning videos similar to what you do so maybe you've inspired me to just do it. Hopefully I'll see you at Urbis some day :)
glad to see you joined the club! greetings from a dutch autistic civil engineering student (if you still remember my previous comment lol)
Yes I remember - a dutch autistic civil engineering student is not something you forget easily. Jokes! thanks for watching.
12:28 goodluck
8:10 Wohoo, Bergen!? Have you been there before, CPM?
Yes. I was actually born in Oslo, grew up in Kjelsås, but moved to Australia during my 2nd year at barnehage
@@cityplannermismanages I knew you're connected to Norway, but not that you were born here. Cool. Does this mean you have a Norwegian passport?
Have you been back to the motherland since moving to Australia?
@@kjeglmangle9256 Yes was there last year. But that was a rarity, it's almost like only every few years. Have you seen any of my HOW TO UP YOUR COUNTRY where I build and roast Norwegian cities like Stavanger, Oslo and Bergen. Its in the playlist. You can have a laugh at BUEKORPS and the E16 getting made fun of. : )
What software were you using for GIS?
MaidenHead QGIS because it's open source and free.
my school didn’t have city planning so i just did physics instead 😔
A sad day for all. ☹️
I have many questions, mate. I've never been to Uni, and the furthest South I've ever been is Benidorm. 😂
What exactly has cost 16 grand? Is that just the first semester, we call them "terms" in England. Or is it the entire course, or just first year? If it's for the entire course, how long is it? I'm just trying to understand where all the money is going, as that's £8300.
Anyway, besides all the questions. Good on you for going to Uni, it's a fucking big step for anyone to make. I'm sure you'll be fine and making plenty of friends etc, once you settle into it properly.
No, that's for the first semester, which is for 6 months, the whole degree is around $40k. Things in Australia are just expensive and university tuition prices aren't regulated, so top 100 global unis charge more than regional less internationally recognised unis. The tuition isn't paid upfront but when you start working. I think it's worth every cent and I was speaking to a swedish friend who is also doing city planning and his course is free, and he said our facilities and coursework is 100× better than what their offered, so I was surprised by that. Thanks for the support. Any questions just fire away
@@cityplannermismanages Fuck!! That's £20K at current exchange rate. How long is the degree over? 1 year?
Effectively it's a student loan then. Is there a threshold on earnings before you start paying it back or start repayments as soon as you're in any job?
3 years, but can be done in 2. It's 60 credit points. Each subject is 6 points. The good thing abt the degree is, EVERY subject is city planning, no dumb electives (there is 3 FREE compulsory subjects though) like Consent matters, how to write for uni, and a careers one. The student loan is 10% of your wage, after you earn over 75k per year.
@@cityplannermismanagesit's still a hell of a chunk of money. 😲
I suppose what matters most though, is you feel you're getting value for money and it's helping you on the journey you clearly want to take. That's the most important thing.
Keep up the good work mate, you'll be fine with everything. 😎👍
If the brainrot thing is real i probably couldnt stand doing this
being an autistic uni student sure is a complicated thing, but hey, you at least didn't get into engineering! (send help)
Oh my head hurts from the mathematics and physics just reading your comment, lmao. thanks for watching
@@cityplannermismanages Manage caffeine! and beware of burnout!
haha looks like another bullshit course, worse than the one I joined and then switched from. Although mine started with urban planning history taught in a pretty boring way and had too many online classes. Nevermind instead of paying I got paid for being there :p
Good on you for making it work, for me I'll just stick to Cities Skylines, way more fun haha.
I'm.enjoying it. I've seen very little history so far.
