I’ve been natural for a year and a half and before I took that leap I didn’t think I had curly hair. When I washed My hair it would just be a big Afro with no definition whatsoever because it was trained to be straightened. I was straightening my hair for yearssss….. but in a black household uneducated about natural hair I was taught from a young age that I just had “nappy hair, my hair is too thick, etc” I’ve learned this past year and a half natural that all my hair needed was some tlc and the curls that revealed themselves over time surprised me like no other. I haven’t straightened my hair since.

I LOVE MAUI MOISTURE!! My coworker (who is Caucasian) bought it and was saying how it weighed her hair down and made it oily and I was like that's exactly what I need lol so she gave it to me and I've been using it every since!

It feels unfair that our hair needs a lot of work. like I wanna wake up wash my hair and blow dry and be done and not an expensive hour routine that’s gonna go away by the end of the day like fuck I’m done with beauty, I want functional... I shouldn’t have to worry about this so much
@@tinaloye2014 but even straight haired girls can't just wash and go 🙂. When I was in college, I watched my Caucasians friends do their hair after they showered, and it took them at least 45min to blow dry. I was like cmon we late to the party 🤣🤣.
@@apara2005 personally I only know a few white people and I know many who are of Asian descent and all of them can literally walk out of a shower and the wind does the rest... I’m not saying that hair wouldn’t stress anyone out, if ppl wanna make it pretty and curly cause they want to look cute, that’s awesome and it’s 100% their choice in those times but that’s the different isn’t it? They get that choice... I no longer have the time, money, patience or pain tolerance anymore and it’s Incredible bullshit we have to do this in the first place.

Fabulous! I just had two cousins come to me so I could do this for them. They were also shocked to see their natural curls for the first time. Everyone who never wears their hair natural should see what their hair is capable of so that if they choose not to wear their natural hair for whatever reason they are at least informed.
This is so refreshing to see a stylist encourage different natural styles. I've always been told by my stylist that I don't have wash and go hair. She always wanted to only give me wraps but when I and alot of her clients went natural she had to switch up or get left behind. I stopped going to her for a while then went back b/c I needed a trim. I still haven't had the confidence to try a was and go but I have been given my hair more TLC and its definitely more manageable and then she had the nerve to ask me what I have been doing and then started doing that on her daughter's head. Seeing this I may just give a wash and go a try and even if it doesn't turn out right at least I can say I tried and did not let the discouragement of one stylist stop me. Never heard of Maui but will look into the gel.
Try it! I never thought my hair was wash and go material too until I just tried it and babyyyy. My curls were popping. I’ve always worn wigs and put my gaur in braids but I’m learning to embrace my hair outside. Just make sure your hair is very very wet. I usually apply my products in the shower.
Tbf, she just started doing more than just silk presses which is why I stopped watching for a while. Ya get tired of just seeing the same silk press over and over, but that's just what people wanted 🤷🏾♀️. Glad to see her doing more natural styles.

She looks great! Those curls are fab! I have high porosity, low density 3C/4A curls. I use the flaxseed Maui Moisture shampoo and have been hesitant to try their styling products until they got your nod. If their gel can handle 4C curls and get a wash and go that nice it’s definitely worth a try. It’s nice to see *affordable* and sustainable products for very curly hair become more available.

Love it. I only wear my hair natural with curl. I haven't put heat in at least 4 years. I'm growing to love this hair brand. I use the bamboo shampoo and conditioner now, love it.

I’m glad you posted this type of video. It’s seems like most of the videos on CZcams of this type are by people that are not hair professionals. That’s how many of us naturals learned to do our own wash and go’s so I’m thankful for them. ♥️
This has inspired me to finally try this product line. I've also just been putting my hair back in a braid or bun cause I'm transitioning after being relaxed for like 27 years! So I'm terrified and just learning how to care for my natural hair at the age of 39. But I'll get there! Great video!

@@MindfulMatters734 For me it's been indecisiveness. Everytime I get to the transitioning stage, I change my mind n relax my hair. This time I have made my mind up. I heard that you can just get box braids while u transition and just keep them moisturized

I might get one because, as I've aged, my straight hair has gone gray and it has decided to act crazy on me, lol.
