    I travelled to the city of Usti Nad Labem as I have heard it is a poorer town in the Czech Republic. I wanted to see if there are noticeable difference between this city versus Prague or any other typical cities in the Czech Republic. As to my surprise, the majority of this city is more or less normal, but there were definitely "bad" parts of the city which really opened my eyes to a whole different set of reality for some unfortunate people. Watch me exploring some very harsh conditions in this country.

    Wow, salty comments of my countrymen here :D
    I personally like this way of tourism - there's more to Czech Republic than Prague and other touristy cities, both in good and bad. It also needs the courage just to visit the unknown in a totaly foreign country.
    When you're at places like these, I advise you to enjoy them, especialy old industrial complexes. Most of them were just left to decay and soon will be gone forever, because nobody sees their architectural value and beauty (unlike hotels, theaters etc.). Until then, enjoy the athmosphere of stillness and decay, for there's something darkly poetic to it.

    I think it's important to see the bad sides and the bad parts of any country you visit just as much a to see the good parts. Especially if you want to or are already living there. There are many reasons why some neighbourhoods end up looking like that but it shouldn't be a taboo to point them out. It is part of the society in our country and it is part of the every day life.

      Places like this are pretty rare and are mostly inhabitted by gypsy communities whose culture and way of living is very different from ethnical Czechs. Politicians have been trying to solve this for years, but it's difficult to get their children go into school etc. At the same time, you have to respect their culture, family rights etc. So for example removing parenting rights is always seen as the last option in the Czech Republic. But this also means that the next generation will just end up living the same way. It's a big problem and there's no easy solution. So the places like this basically exist because human rights are respected (which is obviously a good thing). It's also worth noting most (if not all) of these people collect social benefits which would allow them to live in significantly better conditions, but they often lack even the most basic financial literacy. They tend to spend money as soon as they get them and then have troubles paying monthly bills, so they get their gas or water disconnected (as you saw in the video) etc. There's really no reason for someone to throw garbage out of their windows. There are public thrash cans, for god sake. But why bother putting garbage in the garbage bag and then walk for a few minutes when you can just throw it out of the window, right?

    • @KarlosTheMighty
      @KarlosTheMighty Před 6 měsíci +2

      Well Europe is quite a broad expression. While you won't really see this in Scandinavia, Switzerland and probably Austria it definitely happens in all west and central European countries. On the other hand it is rather rare and here in Czech Republic these are almost exclusively gipsy communities and that’s a topic for much longer discussion. On the other hand if you go more east it won't by that rare anymore.

    Most of those buildings were made illegaly and all of that places have one thing in common: majority of gypsies (90 % +). It is a long overlooked problem (by local and central government alike). That is the problem that deserves some kind of a final solution… (ehm; i know, i know, bad words…) But I don't know what solution - usually when you think about some, someone will call you racist*. IMHO the problem are the parents - never had a job in their lifetime, quite often iliterate, don't value education, often addictied to alcohol or drugs in general… What can kids learn from them? That they don't have to do anything and the social system will provide? There definitely are insufficient capacities to take children away from their parents and raise them elsewhere (foster parents? boarding schools?). No need to mention, that it's very unpopular and controversial measure. So yeah, there is a big problem and a strong urge to solve it somehow. But nobody knows how. And that's why people offering simple solutions are that much popular.
    * Like that was that much different with some minorities in US and I don't know how much has that problem spread into Canada.

I think that word "romové" is created by some non-profit organization for human rights or something like that. I don't think they really using that name for calling themselves.

But let’s me explain it :) i dont live there but they’re just gypsies “cigany” it’s true they don’t work etc. But don’t be surprise with all the racism where they go then they don’t have much choice to join to work. And the others Roma “olassky romove” is really dofferent.. They don’t live like this, they’re not agresive or like everything ppl thinks.. it’s sad how czech ppl is racist to people who is not “white” or who didn’t born to czech republic :-) but everyone gypsies or roma is not the same.

      What is racist about pointing out that this specific neighborhood was destroyed and made uninhabitable by people sharing certain culture/lifestyle.
      The culture/lifestyle of big part of this community is the cause of problems like this. People just see and make conclusions- if they see neighborhood made uninhabitable by certain group of people and this repeats over and over again in different parts of the country, people make conclusions. You can call it 'racism', you can call it 'experience', but the fact is neighborhoods like this is allways 'product' of specific gorup of people sharing specific culture/lifestyle

      letecmig all wrong. Yes, Romas do have many problems with their culture but the main culprit is the system. Systemic racism in the Czech republic. How is it possible that some of these Romas who have moved to the UK (btw, about 50% of Czech passport holders in england are ethnic Romani) for instance have simply started living a normal life which they couldnt in Czech? How come they dont destroy property in England and steal (some maybe but not much overall). It’s sooooo easy to point fingers in one direction and to have simple amswers to everything. Will the Czechs EVER evolve beyond this? I really hope so

    • @melissahouse3488
      @melissahouse3488 Před 2 lety +2

      Many ethnic groups who came to America due to starvation, survival, persecution, poverty, etc, experienced horrendous prejudices & open discrimination, and yet they persevered and strengthened themselves as a people, began proving themselves as valuable contributers to society and graciously worked hard to build the best nation the world had ever seen!!!! This included learning English and adapting, being grateful, following law & order, respecting the new homeland & it's culture, working to better themselves & ultimately benefitting their surroundings through their work & paying taxes. Your mentality seems stunted, and dangerously excusing of a certain ethnic group, that they can't and shouldn't be blamed for they are of a particular people, this is no more a healthy outlook to society but to a detriment to the very group your claiming are victims. Stop seeing them as victims and start applying the same, equal standards as everyone. They can begin to prove their worth and set example, get jobs and actually use that as opportunity to start turning the negative reputation around, same as in America. If they're denied a job and likely based on these "racist" accusations you make, I am sure Europe has discrimination policy/process for which a complaint or formal grievance can be filed, and although that won't get the person liked, these people must fight for a chance and prove what they're capable of being "outsiders" or non-ethnic minority sad but true and if they don't stand up to the negative position they're in or do anything to change society or transform people's views in all the years they've been in Europe and have equal right to opportunity, then they can only blame themselves. Society isn't going to respect people who aren't doing things worthy of respect. America itself, proves your "racism" excuse as just that, a harmful & debilitating excuse with zero merit that only hurts the minority you choose to victimise. If the African American lady's who worked for NASA had your mentality that they're minority's with no worth & good for nothing except leeching off welfare & breeding crime, then America's space program would never have succeeded or accomplished what it did. Every group has to get past the discrimination & hatred and perhaps Roma are not adaptable or interested in assimilating considering the time they've had, or criminal thuggery /deviance /theft, are just the lazy route & easy choice but if they want better for their people and families, they have to unite and start somewhere and that likely is proving themselves through being hard, reliable workers & respectful citizens, with time attitudes will be more accepting and the resentment /hatred will change. You can't say people go around hating without any kind of basis behind it, give people more credit!!!! It's unfortunately up to the minority group to change and society follows. I would implement forced changes and criminal behavior would see them deported to their ethnic origins, no room in society for such nonsense, race is irrelevant. If it's ethnic natives committing crimes, they would be harshly & severely punished accordingly and locked away. Your racial cry is not conducive to anything positive & only serves the liberal agenda that's desperate to remain influential to society when race is not a problem except to the left who make it so by emphasizing it & using to exploit. Allow people to help themselves, not make excuses because they're a certain "race" they can't do anything as if they should be treated like helpless babies.
