Speaking as a Brit who watched Eurovision as a kid but stopped caring about 10 years ago. This year was quite a big deal. Most of us kind of just assumed the rest of Europe always hated us but it turns out we just weren't flexing our music enough. Who knew.

We the Eurovision fans here in the comments sections on CZcams writing and repeating THIS for years by now!!!
But still Every year when the Final show was over, the same old play began to repeating itself,
of Non-Eurovision Fans from the uk, starting to flood in to the comment sections of every new uploaded Eurovision related CZcams video and immediately beginning too whining and crying, that nobody from mainland Europe supposedly likes the UK and that all 40 participating countries feeling a huge grudge against the poor innocent Brits 🥺
Just because of leaving the EU…
Even agter telling them that actually almost half of the 41 participating countries are also not part of the EU and so could care less about their Brexit, but still didn’t have giving points to the UK entries of the last couple years!

Come on Chris, a lot of the pop music in America is written by Swedish people. Max Martin (Swedish) co-wrote the biggest hits of the last 30 years, including 25 Billboard Hot 100 number-ones, from "...Baby One More Time" to "Since U Been Gone" to "Blinding Lights". He co-wrote and produced the Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, N'Sync, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Usher, Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, Coldplay, Maroon 5, Ellie Goulding, Adele, ... to name a few.
Martin has won the ASCAP Songwriter of the Year award a record 11 times.

Also, the winning song in American Song Contest 2022, "Wonderland" was written by four Swedes and an American.

You guys brought up how Spain was able to control her voice even dancing full out…it is quite impressive. Just wanted to share that when I saw Lady Gaga live she did an entire concert and the only time she took a second to catch her breath where you could hear it was between the different “acts” or “sets” of songs where she’d talk to the crowd. It was really wild…because her vocals sounded other worldly/angelic it was crazy.
I’m sure there are plenty of artists who can do that…like Beyonce and Pink but witnessing it in person is really impressive.
If you're gonna do some more reactions to this year's eurovision songs, it'd be great if you could react to Sweden and Serbia.
Oh yeah, but Marketa should probably da some research on Kontraktas song, bevor letting our Three Stooges diving in to Serbias Song and immediately disliking the whole performance because of their lack of background knowledge paired with the typical US-American monolingual ignorance for everything they literally can’t understand or because its to artsy which they usually didn’t being able to comprehend and appreciate

American Song Contest is actually Americas equivalent which started this year, AleXa of Oklahoma won it this year

Also this year actually had the first ever American Song Contest which is an eurovision related contest between USA's states. Oklahoma won with the song "Wonderland"

Love UK's entry & your sincere & enthused reaction to it, in particular! There were some amazing performances this year. I personally counted about 17 great European acts😊. And regarding Pat's point about Ukraine winning, the whole of the European public showed solidarity & voted overwhelmingly for them. *The UK itself awarded Ukraine the maximum 12 points in the public vote,* probably knowing that Ukraine would be its closest competition. I think the UK is very happy with 2nd place. Plus, they don't have to spend all that money hosting the contest next year...hopefully.🤞
The voting system is basically 50/50 between public (televote) and professional juries. They rank the songs from 1 to 8, 10 and 12 points. 12 to the most voted. Then they give the votes from the juries and finally the votes from the public, from the last place to the first and everything can change in that moment. Sometimes an entry that didn't receive points from the juries, receives a lot from the public, and you can't guess the winner until the last country votes.

If you want to go to a massive sing along event you can always travel to Sweden in the summer, there's a couple of events that are televised on a weekly basis throughout the whole summer.

This was in Torino (Turin for foreigners), not Milano (Milan). It is literally written everywhere under the word "Eurovision" 😂 Anyways, I still suggest sweden Serbia, lithuania, latvia, France, moldavia, netherlands

I'd love if they did Eurovision nex year, but no prior knowledge would be the cherry on top. I feel like knowing all the songs beforehand would spoil part of the fun. Also all the drinking games!

I adored Norway’s song! You could probably choreograph a really cool group dance for Chanel’s song Bollywood style.

Together with Kelly Clarkson. I honestly saw some bits, but it is nothing near ESC, just like any other show there.
This year’s Eurovision was the best in years! I loved it and most songs were decent. Honestly I’d recommend watching this years if you have time. As a Brit not only did we finally have a great song and artist, it meant for the first time in years the UK didn’t come near the bottom. He’s the hero of Eurovision in the UK. We should send him every year. It’s always fun that on that one night around 200 million people across the continent of Europe are all watching the same show! I’d happily rewatch this whole show with you guys!
For me, along with Give That Wolf A Banana, the BOPS were: Moldova, Romania and Latvia. I still vibe with those songs xD

I love how respectful you guys are of this amazing contest and of course we all understand that some votes for Ukraine were sympathetic, but I love your view of so what? It was a great song, it managed to create a moment considering what is happening and deserved to win! :) I think you guys would have an amazing time at Eurovision- also a reaction to the 2023 music videos before ESC next year would be very cool!
If you have time I recommend you to watch the special performance in the semifinal-1 of the Italy song which supposed to be compete in 2020 Eurovision but unfortunately 2020 was cancelled due to COVID. And that makes the performance even more beautiful and sad at the same time. You can hear the crowd sang along SO loud, that’s insanely beautiful.
Sweden has to be my fave from this year.

Last year was brutal... Even a year later I still cant believe what happened with the 4 zeros, but especially the double nill for the UK.
It wasnt the best but it def didnt deserve that either.

Even if next years song shouldnt be as good as Space man I still hope they will go this route they chose for this year. It worked and probably will work in the future as well.
I hope my country makes it finally to the finals...we were 11th the second time in a row. 😅 idk what we are doing wrong these past few years...but well at least we could see some.other countries doing better like the UK and also Spain 😁 I love those "plot twists" in Eurovision.

This year though I am not even surprised we didnt make it....but I agree with last year though.
I personally would love to see something more etno style from our artists but it seems they decided to go the english route with western flair. I just hope next year we will have a good song...or at least just in croatian than it seems that other countries like it when we sing in Croatian.

Just some extra info. This year in the competition prior to Eurovision (to choose the song se were going to the actual show) there were quite a few good songs to choose from in Spain. I really wanted Tanxugeiras to win with the song Terra (if you have time, check it out, it's amazing. It's not in Spanish, but in a co-oficial language, Gallego, and the theme is "no borders"), but Chanel did a fantastic job and brought a lot of energy to the stage.

Check out Serbia, Moldova, Sweden, The Netherlands from Eurovision 2022. Also recommended to check out the new videoclip of Eurovision winner Kalush Orchestra. That gives the song an extra meaning in regards to the war
*Chris,* _ABBA's_ new album, _'Voyage',_ came out last year. It has already gone Platinum. The album debuted at number one on album charts in 18 countries.

I googled flutes while watching the Ukrainian band on Eurovision night. They were using traditional Ukrainian flutes called the telenka ("which is played with one hand controlling the pipe's open end") and the sopilka!

Sam Ryder was singing in his shed on CZcams 12 months before this. He got spotted by lots of people and Ed Sheerans co writer Amy Wadge contacted him to write a song together and this was it.

You guys keep saying the UK isn't part of Europe. The UK is a part of Europe as a continent. The European Union was an economic union that aided in things like immigration and trade.

The history of Eurovison is cool too. It started in 1956 for countries to come together after WW2
If for the next video you react to 3 more I'd do Serbia (with subtitles pls!! or look up the context for the song before watching it), Sweden and maybe Moldova. Others that are also worth watching are Romania, France (also a bit of context for that one maybe?), and a lot of people liked The Netherlands and Greece. Or just the rest of the Top 10, I don't know lol
Btw your discussion about "what kind of (American) song would win in a contest like this?" when American Song Contest has already happened a couple weeks ago is so funny to me. XD And Marketa is right, Scandinavia (or better yet Sweden) is like THE place to go for good Pop and Dance music.

@@thetaomega7816 No you're wrong, Marketa says with a completely straight face at 2:21 , "Australia are not EITHER". The 'either' implies the UK, in her view, aren't part of Europe. Because as we know, Australia actually aren't part of Europe or the European Union. This would be a completely irrelevant point if she was joking because aren't used as justifications, and there is no noticeable attempt at humour.
They say it again at 27:38. They suggest that the UK and Australia are not supposed to be in the competition and go on to list other legitimate examples without acknowledging that the UK is legitimately part of Europe. It would be odd for that to be a joke since every other example they list is a legitimate example. No one laughs, they are clearly trying to figure out why the US isn't included when other non-European countries are. They just fell for a more simplistic version of the real events because they're quite far from European political repercussions.

He was the most amazing ambassador for the UK. he was so filled with joy and positivity all the time. He came 2nd at eurovision - Nobody called have beaten Ukrine. Its a good song but not sure if it would have won - who knows.... Sam Ryder has some great other music like Tiny Riot and More.

The united states actually has their own song contest now. It includes all states and territories. They have done it differently to eurovision though
Australia is in it because we have been Eurovision stans for decades. We have watch parties and have been sending over people to cover it for ages now.
