In this video, I'll show you how to play the rare but excellent C-part of Fisher's Hornpipe. I learned this part from mandolin maestro Butch Baldassari.
For me, the tune gets complete with this added third part, and I find it an excellent example of the brilliance and finesse that has made Butch a revered figure in the world of mandolin music.
Butch Baldassari was a celebrated mandolin virtuoso and educator renowned for his innovative contributions to bluegrass and classical music. He was born on December 15, 1952, and sadly passed away on January 10, 2009. Throughout his life, he resided primarily in Nashville, Tennessee, where he made significant contributions to the mandolin community through his performances, recordings, and teaching.
This video lesson will show you how to play the melody and chords.
You'll find sheet music, tabs, audio tracks, and instructions for this tune in Mandolin Secrets Academy.
On my right side, I have the excellent Swedish bluegrass guitarist Mikael Grund

How do you find the c-part for Fishers Hornpipe? Have you played it before?

I have never heard the C part before, and I find it charming!

I’m glad to see you put this out there, I’ve always played the C part, I’m not even sure where or when I learned it
but I’m usually sad at jams where it’s rare for anyone else to play this tune with three parts.
