I love how they build up the drama. Mark and digger have theyre own moonshine and distillery called sugarlands distillery. They run a legit operation and do everything the legal way.
They're inspiring us to do the exact same, without paying for that dastardly distiller's license.

@@EthanPDobbins that's not true and your words can get someone in trouble. There is no federal law against OWNING a still. There are some states where it is illegal to have one. I live in Mississippi. Just owning a still can get you arrested and jailed. It's legal in many states to distill alcohol for fuel or non-alcohol products. It is 100% illegal to distill ANY amount of liquor without a license and paying taxes.
Federal law allows home production of beer and wine for personal consumption.The laws on beer and wine are not the same because they aren't produced the same way as liquor and the brewing is not nearly as dangerous. It's not hard to do a few minutes of reading and get your facts straight.

I'd be at 25% overall, as soon as you have to start taking actual risk like that, the price goes up. They have the expertise and the location, but they can't do it without you and they are asking you to risk a hell of a lot. 25% seems fair enough. In a real life situation, you would say ok, now I want a third and they would start with the you aren't going to get anything speel, that works both ways, settle for 25 and call it a day.

I live in TN on a 175 year old farm. I was talking to the grand-daughter of the couple who lived here. She said she was walking in the the hills on the farm when she was a teenager and came across her granddad's still (probably in the late '60's, early '70's). He told her her loved her more than anything, but if she ever said a word about the still, his partners would make sure it was her last. She didn't say anything until his funeral.
Funny how the moonshiners are more romanticized than the meth cookers.

Popcorn Sutton called those stills pisspots. He had huge stills made of copper there's videos on CZcams that show him lighting it. You could put 10 of these stills in that one. He got busted with hundreds of gallons of illegal liquor and was facing a long time in prison. That's why he offed himself.

I've bought a couple jars of their liquor at the liquor store and I'm hoping some triple grain will pop up soon..I'm so tired of people saying it's not the same as what's made in the woods. I grew up around shiners and it's hard to drink until it's proofed cause my dumass tried it and I was drunk before I got started on it and they learnt me a lesson with it but I didn't have any complaints about it. I would love to have a jar from the middle of a run but I'll never git it unless I'd make my own...It's expensive in the stores but oh well. I just like these guys and whatever I decide to buy will have their name on it

Did they obscure the brand name on the bag of sugar because they didn't want to implicate the sugar company in what they were doing, or was it because the sugar company wasn't paying for product placement?

Rabbit Hole makes a fantastic triple malt Kentucky bourbon, very similar to this recipe. It's a tad pricey, about $70 for a 750ml.. but nothing crazy. Search "Rabbit Hole Cavehill Four Grain Triple Malt Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey". You won't be disappointed.

you can't load the mash up and get it to a still rather then the still coming to you? i know if inside the gases from production can blow you up, that's why you get lots of space like a warehouse and while you drive the cops nuts you get the job with your friend done. lucky this is tv or you'd all be busted.

Is it illegal to have a still broken down in a car? I don't think it is. There are legal reasons to own one. I think that there has to be some evidence that you're using it to make booze in order for them to charge you.

I use to watch all the seasons. They talk about law and getting caught. I’ve never seen any of them get busted. Something isn’t right about the show. How the known National on TV Around world. They don’t go far from their homes. And they still get by with it. Either something in the ingredients isn’t real. And made seem like moonshine or hauling it. Or someone getting their pockets fat with Cash.
It's because they aren't creating any illegal liquor. They are all licensed to make it and just pretend to be doing it illegally for the sake of the show. They essentially could do what their doing in a building and it would be the same, they are just outside for drama.
