I loved this SAAB Museum series and learned so much!
I still get a ‘trigger-finger’ when I see a very nice SAAB for sale online…
I would love a very nice 900 Turbo-16 Convertible or an early 900 Turbo 5-door Wagonback.
There is a lovely bright red 9-5 sedan in my small town with its original owners..; it drove past my house while I was watching your wonderful SAAB Museum series…like a visit from a friendly cardinal songbird to say ‘I see you..!’
    GREAT EFFORTS!!

Well done. Thank you for this video and the view into what was going on at SAAB at the time.

Yes well don't forget the cracking in the fire wall of the early 900s due to the mounting of the steering rack in RHD (right hand drive markets) cars I believe? SAAB had a lot of warranty issues and even developed a repair kit for dealers to use if I'm correct?

Hi Mark. Yes this is correct for RHD new generation 900 cars. As far as I can understand the steering rack and the bulkhead it attaches to is part of the GM platform. I do not know if RHD Opels and Vauxhalls have the same issue. There is (or was) a brace kit to retrofit to spread the loads from the steering rack into the bulk head.

I believe some owners in Australia had issues back in the day with some Saab dealers not honouring the fitting of the kit to the 900s. On a different note I looked at buying a Saab a few months back and drove a very smart 2002 9-3 Aero manual convertible. It presented very well, but I was a bit shocked at the amount of scuttle shake! I've driven many convertibles but this was by far the worst - a legacy I guess of it being based on a saloon car. Instead I went and bought a very well cared for 1997 9000 Aero manual in silver, I feel its updated looks compared to the 9000 you review in your film make for a much better looking car. An outstanding feature of these Aeros are the leather Recaro seats - they have to be some of the best seats ever fitted to any vehicle for comfort and looks. Are there any 9000 Aeros in the Saab Museum?

Yes, there is a red 9000 CS Aero in the museum. One can see it briefly just after 27 minutes into the video I made around the Saab cars from the 1980s.
