- Refurbish and face lift of my SAAB 9-5 Aero -01. Bushings, brakes, dampers, springs, crank chaft bearings, vacuum hoses, cooler hoses, turbo hoses, timing chains, clutch and slave cylinder, sub frame, oil pump, 2,5" exhaust with 3" down pipe, gearbox oil
Good work fella. I have a 2002 9-5 Aero sedan, was pretty tired when I got it 6 weeks ago but already I've done;
Replaced wipers
Replaced sun damaged sharkfin
Replaced sun damaged bonnet & boot badges
Repainted sun damaged wiper arms
Repainted sun damaged B pillars
Repainted sun damaged scuttle panel
Repainted sun damaged plastic trims to body panels
Repainted bumper/bonnet/roof
Repainted mirror caps
Repaired & painted accident damage to passenger door bottom
Replaced missing trim retainer clips to boot and bumper
Replaced 4 x tyres with new Continentals
Restored & fitted 4 x ALU52 Aero alloys
Replaced brake discs, replace pads with ceramic
Replaced sway bar links & bushes
Replaced missing owners manual & wallet
Oil & filter changed
Replaced damaged offside driveshaft boot
Replaced faulty auto transmission control module
Replaced crank position sensor
Replaced faulty SID
It's a different car now, just needed a bit of love
Really nice. Ive got a 2003 Aero in the same color. Its in good shape but needed to be mechanical refurbished too. Your Video helps me a lot. Thank you.

Can you walk us through your process for addressing the rust? I'd like to take this kind of preventative maintenance on some of the underbody/wheel-wells/rocker panels.
talk to your local paintshop and they can show you the real 2-component products you need to do it properly.

@@Charlie-be6fx I've got the wagon mate, it's sound though it needs' the works' really. It's standard throughout, experiencing the usual saab problems. So it's gona be new/replacement engine, big turbo, big exhaust and brakes first 👍

Wow. What year? She was very needy. I have an 04 9-5 Linear estate that I bought 12 years with 83K. I am under 164K now. She's my 5th Saab, I upgraded the front torsion bar to an Aero and tried the poly-bushings, but they made the ride too harsh and they didn't last

Amazing job! I have a 2002 9-5 Aero Estate aswell. Really inspiring seeing the work you did to yours, I really hope I would be able to do the same thing to mine one day. Can I ask you what you did to all of the body panels on the inside? Like, what was that shiny stuff that you put on the inside of the doors, the trunk, etc.? Is it some kind of insulation?

i dropped the engine and had a replacement car for a while. Dont remeber how many days it took

What parts did you need for the facelift in the back? Bumper, lamps, nuberplate frame and thats it? I can see you modified the SPA connector, but what about lamp connectors?
katugali different lamp connectors but just cut the old and solder in the new ones. Just make sure they come with the new lights
Well Torbjörn - the video is somehow a little borring - to much time - but you got a fine job for sure. I have a SAAB 9.5 2,3 Aero 2008 my self - my 4'th SAAB.

Victor DeVille tack för kommentaren. Motorn är original utöver downpipe, avgas och steg 1 så jag räknar med 10-20 extra häst. Har inga planer på att sälja då jag vet vilket skick den är i och jag tror inte jag får i närheten av vad jag vill ha men med rätt bud så vet man aldrig 😊
Fullt förståeligt, man får aldrig igen tid och pengar men på något sätt så känns det värt det enkom pga kärleken till bilar...

hello. nice job! a have a 2001 saab 9-5. i can change just the front bumper(without front lamps) with one from a 2003 facelift 9-5?
Nop, you need the front lights also to make it look right. It might be physically possible to change just the bumper but it will not look correct even if its probably close. (Didnt check when I did it)

Hej Tobbe. Fantastiskt arbete måste jag säga. Jag tänkte själv på att byta front på min m00 till m02 front och strålkastare etc. Hur pass "bolt on " är den nya fronten på den gamla ?
Tack :-) Om du kollar mina andra videos så har jag någon som visar hur jag hänger på den nya fronten. Allt är ju relativt, jag tyckte det var enkelt men inte säkert du tycker det. Lite trickigt att få lamporna att peka rätt men Bilprovningen har godkänt så då är allt ok
tack så mycket för svar . syftet med faceliften för min del är just strålkastarna . jag skulle vilja ha klarglas med projektorer för halogen. Kanske bättre att hoppa över det om besiktningen bråkar om sånt. Jag har projektorer med xenon i min saab nu fast med vanliga glas och det ger en dålig och svag ljusbild så frågan är om det är bättre att låta dem vara och köra med ett vanligt xenon kit bara.
Nu kommer jag inte ihåg exakt vad som är vad men jag valde att gå med vanliga (Halogen) lampor för om jag installerat det där andra som är OEM från SAAB hade jag varit tvungen att installera strålkastarspolare och "allt går" men där drog jag gränsen
ok , då kanske det är bättre att låta bli hahahah . Helt omöjligt att modda om till klarglas. Undrar om man inte ska kontakta någon glasmästare eller gjuta egna glas i plast på något sätt?

Well, I'm glad there are people keeping SAAB alive. Could be more valuable in future. When you love something, time and money don't really matter as much.
