- How a Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF) Works
Diesel particulate filters (DPFs) and gasoline particulate filters (GPFs) are two types of emission control technologies used in vehicles to reduce the amount of harmful particulate matter released into the air. Both types of filters work by trapping and removing particulates from the exhaust gas of a vehicle, but there are some differences.
GPFs are a relatively new technology that are just starting to be adopted in vehicles. Though similar to DPFs in design and function, they are made with different materials that are optimized for the lower temperatures of gasoline engines.

1500 miles my eco diesel goes into limp mode in Louisville Kentucky going to a funeral in West Virginia. I have to stay a week lucky family there to get the diesel particulate filter changed. Haven’t had trouble since 😂 also haven’t used anymore def
Lol
My Suzuki with or without gpf has the same oil recomandation. Btw, a3/b4 oil has 1.6% ash level, c3 has 0.8%. Not a big difference.
So when this clogs it burns the valves. It’s a more restrictive faster clogging catalytic converter. SWEET.
Yes I don't know enough about how an engine works, but I'm here and trying to learn. So I was expecting a way to change a filter maybe every other oil change or something. But apparently there is only changing out the gpf entirely and must be done by licensed mechanic due to legality issues correct? This ensuring a thriving mechanic industry because if we peons could do this ourselves that would be too affordable. Sigh.....as if the electronics in the car weren't enough of a catch fire, misfire, don't fire at all headache.
Is this going to be filled with valuable metals for crack heads to steal also
dont cars have enough junk on them to break every other month & cost 15 to 18 hundred dollars to repair.its getting ridiculous.the people who design this crap didnt have any problems breathing.
At this point they should just bring back leaded gas. There was absolutely no downsides to breathing that in.
