I was a union member for 26 years, and I will tell those International Officers of UAW are as full of shit as a Christmas turkey. Being a Local Union Officer I found for the most part that the International Officers really don't care about the Locals they cover. For the UAW to threaten a strike of a struggling company, even though Carlos Travares is the biggest problem at Stellantis, would be a death knell for those local unions, and their members. Travares, and Stallantis couldn't care less at this point if the Unions strike. All that will do is save the company money by not paying unemployment benefits, and shut the production plants which is what Tavares wants. And the ones that suffer WILL NOT be the International Officers. It will be the hard working members of the locals. With that I know that the Unions are between a rock, and a hard spot right now. But grand standing at a political convention is no way to help their members that pay the salaries of those loud mouths behind the podium.

Well, workers are not at fault here. Harvard MBAs figured they can make a ton of money for themselves, if they sell each vehicle for twice as much, just with a little bling on top.
Union or not, manufacturing is not why vehicles cost an arm and a leg -- c-suit greed is.
And yeah, workers want management to take a hit, and slash the price in half. I want that too - would be nice to have a decent truck.
As far as quality goes, when your CEO make $100M total comp and you make 100k -- there's hardly any desire to work harder or better. Is that right? No. Can they fix it? Yeah -- just introduce ratios for total comp, eg 1:10:15:40 (min:median:mean:max), and see quality go up. Because when your outcome depends greatly on quality, not only you'll be doing good work, you'll look over your shoulder that your buddy does good work too.

Let me give them advice how to sell: slash the price by half, or even two thirds, and things will start to work out. Remove all that expensive technocrap, build basic trucks (ac+rwd+radio) that are easy to service and sell at $27k.

V6, 4X4, awesome car, we love it. Jeep dealers ARE dealing heavily right now to move way too much inventory. The dealer I bought from has TONS of the new hybrid electric Grand Cherokees sitting unsold. I asked my sales rep 'what's up with all the stupid Electrics?' He told me Stellantis is FORCING dealers to accept (purchase) one Electric jeep for every three ICE vehicles they order. The government is in on this charade, too.
