      Pickup trucks should be work trucks. One model can be "fancy" for the rich D bags in society. Vinyl seats AC (optional) manual windows cut and dry throttle body for gas engines and use a cummins diesel for the diesel package. All pickups come with no box you can either A buy a flatbead from the company or a box from the company. they would not keep those type of trucks on the lot. Also get rid of all the plastic crap on it and I would take it further the doors are removable for summer work. new trucks are like luxury studio apartments on wheels.

      The same thing happened to all American manufacturers in the 70's. Americans wanted smaller, more fuel efficient cars/trucks, but Detroit said NO! You'll take what we give you!
      So Imports started selling like hot cakes (Datsun, Toyota, Volkswagen, et al) and nobody bought Detroit's big gas guzzlers. It wasn't long until "The Big Three" fell flat on their collective faces and for the first time, in the 90's, The city of Detroit went bankrupt because they no longer had their massive tax base (GM, Ford and Chrysler---along with the 100Ks of people who worked for them.)
      Detroit has still not recovered. It's a ghost town compared to what it was up until the 70'--80's

    • @aw8388
      @aw8388 Před 29 dny +2

      @@cowboyofscience7611 you are correct. In the 60's and 70's, American auto manufacturing sold MILLIONS more cars and trucks than they do now. Then, as now, they decided to concentrate on more expensive vehicles, letting imports take over the auto segment the union forced wages so high that no one could afford to BUILD an economy car. In 1973, federal minimum wage was $1.60. UAW assembly line workers (many of whom had ZERO special skills or education) were making nearly four times that. I don't blame the manufacturing for moving. They literally had no choice. But the commies at the UAW will never recognize that, and will continue to snivel until the last unions die a painful, expensive death in auto america.

      Remember, we had the "Energy Crisis" during the 70's--and "The Public" wanted cheap transportation.

The union was too dumb to realize that with the insane wage and compensation packages, the automakers can only profit on the ultra high priced trucks and SUVs, leaving auto manufacturing to the Asian manufacturers. Now the market is flooded with stupidly high priced trucks and SUVs Americans aren't buying! How's that "win" taste now, UAW? I have zero sympathy for them. Dealers have been fleecing customers for years now with markups. Manufacturers have also restricted output to keep prices high. No bailouts, let them suffer the consequences of how they have treated consumers.

    If the oem's want to really sell their trucks to us, they better make them with much lower msrp. Also, the compact PU truck segment is getting bloated, bigger in size AND price. ND ONE LAST THING, all of the oem's need to start offering a 4 cyl diesel option in their compact and midsize pickups. GM screwed up when they dropped their 2.8l turbo diesel, IMHO...

    Based on Japanese media reports, around 40 to 50% of US sales for Toyota and Honda are currently hybrids. Both companies had record quarter profits for April-June 2024 because of strong consumer interests in hybrid vehicles and ridiculously weak JPY.
    Nissan apparently didn't have a hybrid model in the North American market, which set them apart from other Japanese automakers. It could be they were more focused on the Ariya and the LEAF. Either way, Nissan has severely misread the North American market, which has led to high incentives and demand destruction.
