- Dawn of Wonder! Victoria 3 is receiving its second paid DLC expansion, following the mixed reviews of Voice of the People back in May. On the same day Victoria 3 is receiving its free 1.4 patch update, and a 1.5 experimental beta branch with the military changes we discussed last week, the Dawn of Wonder paid cosmetic pack also arrives! (Release Date: August 28, 2023). In this video I'll breakdown the new features, and show you what they look like, referring Dev Diary 94 (Dawn of Wonder). From day-night cycles, to trains, lighthouses, and carriages (alongside further cosmetic updates to UI, etc.), this DLC delivers purely cosmetic changes that are almost exclusively paid features except for the last one (which wouldn't be much use to you if you didn't have any DLC anyways!). #strategy #gaming #victoria3

Cool, a day and night cycle on a spreadsheet.
It's revolutionary!
A colorful spreadsheet
One thing they have got to Change are the clothes of the Japanese after the Honorable Restoration! Japan very famously enforced western clothing standards after the Meiji restoration!
It would be so cool to see the emporer go from his traditional dress to the western Military outfit like the famous photograph of Emporer Meiji.
Bonus points if the rural folk and devout stick to the traditional dress to show they are keeping tradition up.
Western Clothes: Redux mod in steam workshop
I think Japan will get a revamp with historical stuff in an eventual far-east DLC
maybe we'll get something then
Woah - paradox chooses to make something that has no effect on functionality of the game or that solves the lag that plagues everyone who plays this game 😱
I knew it wasnt my computers fault
There's a free patch coming out the same day. I don't see how you can be upset that they want to sell some cosmetics for the people who like it so they can earn some money to give you more free patches.
I do like they keep the game changes to the core game but I'm not sure there is anything interesting about this DLC :?
Seems pretty content light for a dlc. I’m glad that they only included art stuff here. While the city and train lights seems neat if you zoom in to appreciate the map, but I find that I spend most of my game time zoomed out too far to see individual states. Maybe it’s for people who play small nations and only need to focus on 1-3 states, but this is probably a pass for me unless it gets bundled in with a bunch of dlc way down the road.
Yeah they should call it a flavor pack if anything
@@Leldy I just saw steam description mentions it as an Art Pack
This dlc made me lose some hope of how the future will look for Vic3.
woooooooow!! 4 whole (useless) wonders, IMPRESSIVE!! *huge dash of sarcasm* >_> also....we need to pay for a day/night cycle? seriously? O_o
Id you’ve got the PC that can run the game without lag, then you can pay for stuff that’ll make the game lag :p
That should be free and inclued in the base game ??
Insane, game still broken and what do they do? Add a day and night cycle and some doodads and unit unfiorms lmao
But the Paradox drones on the forums will still give them money so they still win in the end
Just use dlc unlocker instead, these feature and visuals should have been in the vanilla version in the first place.
When you play paradox games, you're either a DLC pirate or a dumb cashcow
I mean there’s work behind all the dlc, but I’m not paying 400 euros for a game like eu4 or ck2. And with this game’s pricing, it won’t take too many dlcs till we reach this threshold
An okay DLC. But the beauty of Paradox games is that you generally have two positive options:
A) Buy DLC to support the games' lengthy development and continuous improvement.
B) Piggyback on supporters and still enjoy a bunch of free updates.
It is a shame that a bunch of people choose option C, which is whine like entitled twats because DLCs aren't free or dirt cheap. In too many people's eyes, developers are supposed to slave away and improve and expand a game for years on end, with barely any support. After all, who needs to make a living?
if the game wasn't a piece of garbage at release this wouldn't be a problem
day night cycle sounds like even more cpu drain on an already cpu heavy game
With the current state of vicky 3's performance, yeah, it will
Paradox really making sure their fanbase wont even see sun in their game 💀
Yeah, I'm not gonna even bother w/ my current playthrough now.
And will this day night cycle account for Daylight Savings Time? Is that something the player can control?
Hmm....I get it's an art dlc. However, the day and night cycle feels less art and more mechanic that we hope makes you buy this dlc since we refused to put it in the free update.
Like overhauling the looks over certain regions and countries I get. UI color changes like France got, but let's say for Asian countries instead. New clothing, music, icons, wonders, map border flavor, regional names, party names, formable nations, maybe even some events. Stuff that if your interested in playing the region you'll want but won't effect you if you play anywhere else.
Im sorry they want us to pay for this?
Well , at least this isn't an obligated to buy paid patch)))))
Yes, that is implied since they are selling it. But you know, noone is forcing you.
I value this DLC at $0
@@TH-qh6jz and no one is forcing you to post an idiotic comment, yet here we are
This isn't taking dev time away from from core gameplay improvements, it's just a way to monetize the otherwise wasted time of the games artists. That being said, I probably wouldn't even bother to download this if it was free.
Looking in the Expansion pass bundle on steam, dawn of wonder is listed at $7.50 AUD and Sphere of Influence is listed as $42.95 AUD
wow so coo, very european@@aymericism2
@@aymericism2 4 eur too much
Jesus christ this sucks. Should’ve delayed a dlc by another 3 months if they wanted to add more cosmetic stuff
computer clock time?? Aw Hell Yea
£4.49 in the UK
This could have been a free content pack, not a paid DLC 😆
They want us to pay for a day/night cycle and graphical fluff? I wasn't even convinced to pay for the base game.
I don't care about any of this bling bling until the base gaming is fixed.
I bought the deluxe version so I still don't know the price!
So, it's today?
The only problem with Victoria 3's DLC policy (it's not a problem to me at all) is the fact they're releasing so much content for free that people are complaining the DLC's have no content
The game was released a year ago, it was mediocre at best, lacking the bare minimum and balance, people who preordered and bought the first dlc and this practically participated in a giant beta testing.
They try to minimize the war system but in the end its becomong even more confusing than HOI4 😂
i hope it costs only a small amount
Gee a bunch of cosmetic stuff. Could've added wonders or landmarks to the game that actually do something like in CK but nah, let's just make the map pretty.
Literally all of this should have been in the game at launch, what the actual hell
I'm impressived by how utterly uninteresting this all is, they couldn't have made it more boring if they tried
they gave it, however, an interesting title
This is not a DLC I would pay for. This seems like stuff that should have been in a complete game, anyway, and doesn't add anything worth paying money for.
Of all the changes people are asking for, aesthetic weren't the priority, by far.
Did they name this DLC unironically? Because I feel a great deal of wonder how anyone could care about this.
I dont see why anyone would waste money on this, it's kind of stupid i do hope they wont be making more dlc like this where they just sell you mods that give you a few more clothes for character models you never pay attention to.
And i guess theres also the different map skins, and also obviously the Day and night cycle but i dont know if thats a free feature or if its included in the dlc, i would assume that it would be a free feature but it's paradox we are talking about unfortunately.
ACHIEVE MAXIMUM IMMERSION!!!!
So minor visual fluff is the entire basis of the DLC? No wonder they kept this quiet until release approaches. They somehow came up with something even worse than Voice of the People. Astounding.
This is an "Art Pack" of course its visual fluff!
It's an art pack, not a content pack. It is literally in the name for it to be visual fluff. Buy it or don't buy it, your call
@@bobbacon1398 You can try to play semantics all you want, there is virtually nothing to this DLC.
@@utewbdwhich is the point of an art pack yes
@@obamium4265 In a year they came up with day night cycles. Keep bending over lmao.
why don t you all crack the game and the dlc...?-
This seems worthless ima be honest. I barely ever zoom into states and I think most us play zoomed out only zooming in ever now and then. I would have much preferred some attention given to the military system or some changes the production methods. Maybe a new resource/resources
i just wish they'd get off theyre arses and fix the game rather then adding garbage IE fix the darn combat ...yes i know its coming but still
Oh, yes, that's why i play this economical/political simulator, aesthectis.
Just a word in favor of cosmetic DLC. I think it may be better to release content that decorates the game rather than adding in new core mechanics. Think of EU4, where the base game is a hollow shell missing key features, and the full dlc experience is a hodge posher cobble of mismatched, unbalanced add-ons. Cities skylines 1 had this by the end too. It’s kind of nice that I can buy a cool graphic upgrade for Vic3 for less than a AAA character skin, or ignore it and enjoy a self-contained base game.
However, Paradox is missing the far superior DLC option: full alternate scenarios. If they composed an alternate history start for the 1800s, with some light flavor events, they could definitely sell those to satisfied customers. The base game remains intact but fans looking for variety would eat up alternate scenario starts. Just look at the popularity of overhaul mods. Or an alternate tech tree with steampunk. Content that adds big variety to some playthroughs rather than dusting changes on every playthrough. Paradox, the idea is yours free of charge!
Pretty lame DLC to be honest I feel like this level of content should just be a free update. No change in gameplay or systems
Eh
this dlc will get bad reviews... it s pointless
First
Another seemingly disappointing DLC incoming - Not bought VOTP and do not intend to buy this either, would much rather Paradox put the time in and release a big overhaul of the game in one go later down the line - not a fan of these small pointless DLCs
bro this game is gonna end up like Imperator rome. This is absolutely garbage dlc. It would be good if the game was at least at vic2 level, but we dont even have base mechanics from vic2 like investitions, world wars and normal warfare. Who tf is gonna see the day/night change at speed 5? Who even cares about that?
This is the worst game ever I was super excited for this time period game what a disappointment paradox should be ashamed to have their name on this trash
Why?
Another terrible DLC I'm done with this game.
The point is Victoria 3 wanted to focus on economy and the people rather than military as the Victorian Era saw huge changes in all aspects of life.
jesus they really don't have any ideas do they - why can't you just man up and say it's contentless cosmetic bullshit
