This one was fascinating. I'd be tempted to pay more for the bokeh of the Zeiss. (Three months after you buy a lens you have forgotten what you paid but you remember what you are dealing with every time you shoot!) Question: How about comparing the Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 to the revised Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 G2? This question will be immediately paramount to many viewers (including me!). Thank you.
Thanks Art! Glad you enjoyed it! That's certainly only my to-do list. As is the new Samyang 24-70mm! Just waiting to get my hands on some review samples now 🤞🏻
I'd add points for the Zeiss' digital distance markings. Extra useful for street shooting. Much better than looking at the on-screen distance scale. But the hand feel of the Sigma though... they've really done well with these new Contemporary series lenses. Plus the aperture ring is always great to have.
The knurled features, matching lens cap, clicky aperture rings, narrow diameter, and relatively short length in my mind make the Sigma, 24mm, F2, Dg,DN everything a lens should be in terms of styling and looks. It doesn’t hold a candle to Alice in the video, but man what a gorgeous lens! While it has it in the looks department, I just can’t get past the crazy barrel distortion. 5:05 Sigma’s 24mm uncorrected chart image looks like we’re in a fun house😮. While the Zeiss 25mm chart isn’t exactly as straight as an arrow, it is markedly less distorted. I know the in camera lens correction should straighten out the curves but many times it does it at the expense of stretching and widening the appearance of things off center, which is especially unflattering to people and just doesn’t yield a true image. Many don’t seem to care about this, but this really bothers me. Am I alone?
Thanks for the head-to-head! Very useful - I find the huge cyan fringes on the Zeiss's backgrounds troublesome. Is the lens chart with corrections on or off?
The Samyang 24mm is on my radar to test out! Just waiting for Viltrox and Tokina to release their versions in Sony E-Mount so I can do a big group test 💪🏻
@@TomCalton Did someone miss Loxia ? :-) I would love a head to head between Loxia, Batis, Sigma and Samyang - just for the environmental portrait. But probably too much hard work
Not at all, it's on the radar - there are just a few other 24mm's that are still expected to release in 2022 before I entertain the idea of doing a big group test. ☺️
Hello. As the owner of this glass from the owner, I want to ask. The preset on the aperture, the so-called declic, bothers me. When the petals are always open and close only when the shutter is pressed, to the set value. Is it possible to shoot without this function?
Just get the Sony 20 f1.8 G, full controls, weather sealing, brighter aperture, little to no distortion, a little more expensive than the Sigma, but cheaper than the Zeiss

The display on the Zeiss provides DOF values . Quite useful for such a focal length.

Great comparison, great models go hand in hand!
Thanks 👍🏻
Thank you for the comparison.😊
I just played with the sigma and it’s a beauty, super build and aesthetics
Agreed - the Sigma iSeries lenses in generally are really nicely made.
@@TomCalton Thanks for the up-to-date test. However, the bokeh test (in my opinion) was won by Sigma. Zeiss has onion rings and disgusting greens.

Great video. How does the Batis 25 stack up against the sigma art 24 1.4. I can’t find any info on it.
What about the new tamron 24 2.8 and 35 2.8? We are spoiled with choices!! Great video as always!
Thanks bud!

I recently got the new samyang 24mm f1.8 and it's pretty amazing and much better priced, definitely the best samyang lens I've tried

Amazing. I hated the samyang brownish colors which they all seemed to have.
Nice build quality though.

Hi Tom, nice to found you on CZcams! I think you are one of the best! Nice job.
Can you post in the description the link for the Amazon German also?
Thanks bud, I appreciate it!
If/when we get a bigger German audience then I'll add the German links 😜
@@TomCalton i'm italian but we cannot buy from UK because of Brexit ( we have to pay 22% of taxes )
How about making a true 24-70 2.8 Zeiss Batis
Weather seal is crucial, and dust can easily get into Sigma prime.
Just get the Sony 20 f1.8 G, full controls, weather sealing, brighter aperture, little to no distortion, a little more expensive than the Sigma, but cheaper than the Zeiss
And a total different FL haha
Who is she ? That model is crazy beautiful ! … wow
@alicelbryan on Insta
No art version? 1.4?
Not in this one, no. This was about testing two f/2 lenses head to head.
That sigma is such an ugly lens 😂
