We just sold out 2009 F-150 Platinum and are down to my SUV. My husband works so much that he cannot even find the time to look for a new truck, but we know we want F-150 XTL and I've made it my goal to learn about them for him. Your video is helping me understand what type of truck we need. Thank you for sharing this, it has helped me so much and after many pauses and taking so many notes, I sent my husband this video! You helped me so much understand the different between the two!

It makes me feel like the 2.7L for my uses is going to be the engine to go with. I tow a 3000lb boat with trailer every once in awhile but usually it's just me doing my daily thing. Much appreciated!

I agree with everything you said except the 5.0 comments. The 2.7 is a better engine, from. 15-17 the 5.0 was better but from 18 to current it just has too many issues from engine noises and excessive oil burning, it is definitely behind the 2.7L. I agree with you the 3.5 trucks are higher trim levels ,higher GVWR,and most are noticeably heavier as well. My2017 3.5XLT was loaded and had the 3.5, what a quick truck ,and would pull a mountain, my new truck is optioned like your 2018, lariat 502A technology package sunroof, max tow,etc.... anyway my 2017 3.5 would literally walk away from my 2020 3.5 both bone stock.i know my new truck needs to break in but it’s a very noticeable difference and I believe the difference is about 230 lbs of weight between the 2 trucks .

I have 4 2019 and newer Fords in my fleet 2 are 3.7 Police pursuit explorers that get run hard and they burn no oil and use the same 5w20 as the 5.0. My 2020 Corolla uses 0w16 oil and burns zero oil ... this isn’t an oil issue . Changing to 5w30 is supposed to be beneficial to the cam phasers but 5.0s don’t have a ton of issues with phasers .

I have a 2018 2.7l ecoboost and was wondering if you could provide some insight. Whenever I cold start my truck, it will idle a bit high and if I drop it into drive within the first minute or so of start up it hard jerks forward. Also after a cold start, while switching from 3rd to 4th gear, the RPMs will hold and shoot to about 3.5k, hard shift into 4th, then drop back down to about 2300 rpms. It's incredibly annoying. Any idea what's going on?

@@crisp5951 unfortunately, no. Ive just been letting it idle longer on start up and it seems to help a bit, at least with the jerking from park to drive. Flashed the computer several times and it only temporarily fixed the rought gear shift from 3rd to 4th

You’re comparing a Gen 1 2.7 with a six speed and no dual injection, and less torque than the Gen 2 vs a Gen 2 ten speed 3.5. So not an apples to apples comparison.

      Your 2.7 is a Gen 1. Your 3.5 is a Gen 2.
The Gen 2 2.7 is even better with dual injection, more torque at a lower rpm and a flatter power band overall.
