- Before I had to start working from home, I had to make a choice on the books I would take from my graduate student office and bring home with me. Here are those books, and how I've been enjoying them since being forced to stay home!

Great advice, thank you. Surprisingly, non of them was on my list 😋
Asya Bell Haha it’s okay, they are not on many people’s lists! To be honest, I’m trying to find normal books like novels to read!
I bought BOB several years ago to teach myself astro. My under- and grad is applied math which was solid physics and EE as well as math. My goal was computational neuroscience and both MIT and Berkeley were really pushing this area. I chose industry and caught the wave of machine learning. But now I am looking to somehow get back to school for fun. A lot of online classes and I learn from young guys like you books. MIT does a lot of online and I wish they would have astrophysics. I drive by the Stanford radio telescope on way to work
Hi, and thank you for your video. I found a used copy of The Physical Universe for about $20 in hardcover, the new paperback books were $124. I am not a student, just a retired scientist who never learned astronomy so I thought it would be a fun read to begin with.
My current list is Cosmic Catastrophes by Wheeler; Out There by Michael Wall; The Contact Paradox by Cooper.
Rock Howard Will definitely need to check those out!
My copy of Galactic Dynamics is the second edition of 2008. My Carroll is the second edition of 2007. Your Carroll is also the second edition but dated 2017 if I remember correctly. In addition, a book is already outdated in some ways when it is published. My question is: how do you stay up to date? Astronomy is developing so fast. Could you cover this question in a video?
Plz make a video on 'want to read astrophysics ,read these books'plz
Hello, so I'm looking to learn more about Astronomy and Astrophysics. I'm looking for recommendations on books to get started. I've been doing research and I think a good starting point will be Carl Sagan's Cosmos and Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time. And then afterward reading some Neil deGrasse Tyson and then maybe some Brian Keene? Just wanted your thoughts on some other books or the books I already have in mind. Thanks!
Personally for me the books that started my journey were 2 books...one on the history of Einstein's famous equation and the other a book on modern physics, noting the history from Greek times to more contemporary times.
@@vineethonkan Do you remember what they were called?
@@aviationzach8438 The Birth of a New Physics by I. Bernard Cohen, and E= MC^2 A biography of the world's most famous equation by David Bodanis
Nice collection 👌
At 11:46 did you mean to say “in future tense”?
What astrophysics books in Spanish do you recommend? As far as possible, they are deep and give me a great glimpse of what astrophysics is. Although I have not even finished my secondary studies, I was lucky enough to read aliens by Avi loeb and I would like to know, learn and discover more about the subject.
Hello! I don’t speak or read Spanish unfortunately so I can’t really think of any specific books that were written in Spanish originally. If I had to recommend a book, I would recommend “An Introduction to Modern Astrophysics” by Carroll and Ostlie and see if it’s been translated into Spanish.
Are you a 16 years old guy!?
25 lol
U look 18
Lol
4:45 PhD candidate at 22? Damn
Oh, I think I was referring to the book being 22 years old as of the filming of the video, since it was published in 1998. I became a PhD candidate this year at 25.
@@KMKPhysics3 Oh, thanks for clarifying. Still impressive though, at least in my country. Here students usually only start their PhD studies around 26.
Is there any website to buy these books at cheap rate in india ?
I buy all my books used on amazon, sometimes you get books dirt cheap on it like $5/6
Yes i
On Diwali 🤣🤣😂
