I previously recommended coffee because it makes fasting easier, not anymore. One of the big points of intermittent fasting for me is to improve gut health. Coffee on empty is detrimental to gut health, good video.

I love this. I've drank caffeine and coffee everyday (with exception of maybe 10 days) for about 7 years. On January 2nd this year I quit coffee and caffeine. I switched to dandelion root tea and kombucha, and now am finally drinking only water and lemon water. I also intermittent fast and eat from 11-7 or 12-8, and only drink pure water all throughout the fast. I have ZERO cravings for coffee or caffeine and have a much clearer mind as well as more energy throughout the day. I'll never drink it again. Great video!

Coffee actually lowers stomach acid . It doesn’t stimulate it what happens is it irritates the gut lining on empty stomach as hcl no present . That’s why ibs patients improve when quit caffiene . It a stressful drug and when you activate stress your body becomes alkaline. So acid reflux happens when your stomach is low in acid .. and not too much acid .

The problem i have with all the information on the internet is that it only adds up to the confusion. Everyone has a different body so the majority of research doesn’t really say anything. It doesn’t mean a lot when studies show you something… mostly, there aren’t even a lot of people involved in studies compared to the global population so. Every thing has its bad and good aspects. You can stress about foods aswel so in that sense I don’t really bother that much because stress ain’t healthy either. And now we think we know a lot via science but that knowledge will change again within a decade perhaps like it always does… take everything with a grain of salt folks. Just enjoy this life and don’t stress to much about food, you’ll know what to do! Just don’t over do anything 🤷

This is a pretty extraordinary claim. You sort of halfway describe a mechanism but I'd love to see some kind of citation so I can dig in a bit more - I could not find one on a search. I understand all the problems with that kind of positivist "where's the citation approach" what gets funded etc however there are studies on coffee and fasting and none of them seem to find this. Are people with gut issues more likely to end up drinking coffee fasted? I would bet so, for a variety of reasons, but that sounds like correlation, not causation to me.
