@@jacjac2010 It's literally not, caffeine will make you vomit blood if you ate as much as you did sugar. It's like saying "Cyanide isn't that toxic because I don't eat very much of it." It's all fine and good to say that we eat a dangerous excess of sugar in modern society, it's another thing entirely to say that "Sugar is more dangerous than caffeine". Given a small packet of caffeine it's pretty easy to kill yourself. In fact the only reason caffeine is legal is DUE to the toxicity. Otherwise it would get treated like cocaine. I'm not arguing that sugar is good for you, but if I asked you to pick your murder weapon an ounce of sugar, or an ounce of caffeine, the ounce of caffeine would get the job done in spades, the sugar would not. The only reason why you think that sugar is more dangerous than caffeine is because caffeine has legal limits whereas sugar does not. For the record I don't have a horse in this race, Caffeine is fine in moderation, as is sugar. The poison in any substance is in the dosage, some things are deadly in small doses and some are deadly in large doses. Some people can't have much sugar at all, some people can't have much caffeine at all, but absolutely nobody on earth can survive a scoop of pure caffeine. It's an important distinction because someone could read your comment and think that Caffeine is far far safer than it actually is. Caffeine with no eye for moderation is actually surprisingly easy, and anecdotally extremely uncomfortable to nearly kill yourself with.

@@Fabian-kv9tw If you find it impossible to quit cold turkey I would recommend switching to matcha, it's a far less anxiety-producing form of caffeination. Since you'll probably be making your own the dosage control is more autonomous than dealing with a barista.
As a corollary to this effort consider that you may be confusing caffeine addiction with sugar addiction, an equally widespread addiction that is even more dangerous than caffeine and which usually comes along in caffeinated beverages. If you think quitting caffeine is difficult, try quitting sugar.
As someone who never kept sugar around the house it's overwhelming just how difficult it's been to eliminate it from my diet entirely. Sugar substitutes made my cravings even worse than the sugar did because the sugar made me too sick to crave it. "Keto" products tend to be a deception, carbs are carbs, you can't subtract the fiber, not if you get as far into insulin resistance as I have.
Also, I believe that much of caffeine withdrawal is the consequence of a caffeine-related respiratory dependency so it would make sense to focus on your breathing. I found that by doing breathing exercises before and after sleep as well as during caffeination and when not caffeinated, I don't get noticeable withdrawls anymore.

I overdosed on caffeine twice in my late teens. It's awful, you absolutely think you're dying. It feels like you're having a heart attack. I had a severe insomniac sleep condition that was undiagnosed, and the constant harassment from my teachers for nodding off in class got too much. I started drinking up to 4 energy drinks a day and chewing/pocketing caffeine pills like chewing tobacco just to function and make the harassment stop. This also DESTROYED my teeth because of the abrasion and sugar deposits. Thankfully I'm on medication now and I'm able to sleep, but my teen years were straight hell and those teachers were definitely abusive.

I find it takes the body a really long time to adjust to normal after 30 years of coffee drinking, I find I am still learning to live a balanced life where I truly listen to what my body tells me of its needs. I used to unknowingly “medicate” with caffeine and sugar, and now I try not to. Migraines are almost gone and I sleep less and I don’t feel like a wreck in the morning. I am about a month in, and I will never be a coffee drinker again. Dropping chocolate is harder, as I LOVE it. But I realize now that I get migraines from chocolate too (in the form of withdrawal symptoms). So the completely caffeine free life is still my goal. I am four weeks in, so far. It's because people live very varied lives and any correlation in consumption of X with disease Y is most likely a lucky pick, considering the sample group members' individual behaviors. One group's members may be doing more of something that MAY increase the risk, but it's usually not looked at and attributed to the studied consumption of X. Next year they take another sample of people and the results are the other way around...
It's almost pointless doing it unless you were able to take a large number of healthy and genetically-strong babies and raise them on various diets for study purposes over many decades. THAT would be a proper study. What we are able to do now on humans is just glorified guesswork, many times not even involving a multi-varied analysis or double-blind testing.

Stimulants are generally bad for adhd. At first they calm you down and your focus and feel like your life is saved but then the pain and anxiety and lack of focus come, because you’ll need more of that coffee or adderrall. Only thing I take now for adhd is Dopa Mucuna, and working out and quitting anything that gives instant dopamine like weed drugs porn, coffee, etc. that’s the trick for adhd. You stop messing with ur dopamine receptors and let them rest and heal and work better. Adhd isn’t permanent most people have gained it from their bad habits these days.

I've been addicted to coffee since I joined AA 36 years ago. I drank enough when I was working to strip a major Columbian coffee plantation several times a year. My job had a coffee service that delivered regular and decaf and used the BUNN drip system. The decaf stunk so no one drank it. I took the orange pot and would use 2 bags of coffee to make one pot. After two or three cups in a couple of hours and it started to get hard to blink but then, when you drive a forklift for a solid 45 minutes out of every hour on third shift, Not blinking often is a plus. At this time of my life, I would get up in the evening and like a heroin addict with his needle, I would prep my coffee pot and cup for that rush of get up and go.
I've been disabled for 22 years now. At 66, I don't drink nearly as much coffee as I used to but when I do, I use 1/4 cup of ground Columbian coffee for a 20 ounce cup. I mainly do this if I have to get up early or make a long trip. Some of our medical appointments are at a hospital 75 miles away. If I don't drink a cup until after noon, I'm usually easily up until 8 or 9:AM the next morning. Sometimes, I'll go days without any coffee. The times that I am most grateful for it is when I get a headache. Coffee clears it up faster than aspirin.

I used to drink 3 cups of coffee a day, because I slowly became so tolerant and I barely felt anything on my 3rd cup. I just felt tired all of the time because the caffeine was no longer effective. I knew I had to cut it out because I was absolutely hooked on the stuff, and it clearly wasn't doing it anymore. I knew I would suffer from intense fatigue, lethargy and brain fog if I stopped having it.
Well let me tell you, that only lasted for a day or two. When you cut out caffeine 100%, you start to feel alive again. And you start to realize how much energy you had all along, especially after finally getting real sleep.
Within 2 weeks ALL my anxiety was gone, I could sleep again, and I actually felt like myself. There is nothing better than this feeling. I trained myself and I will never go back to caffeine.
I recommend anyone who wants to quit to *trick* yourself into drinking decaf coffee, or tea with low caffeine

When I was working in shifts, I became a caffeine junky. I was drinking Red Bull like other people drink water. This led to huge sleep problems.
At the same time I burned out at work. I was doing conveyor belt work and every second was filled with work, which already didn't work, because it expects perfect conditions, you never have. And they still kept adding more and more work.
In the end I couldn't sleep because of caffeine and the few hours I actually slept I couldn't really recover, because of nightmares about work. When I was awake I still chugged down huge amounts of energy drinks and coffee too still be fit enough for work. And at work I've never felt fit, because of lacking sleep.
In the and this lead to a panic disorder and panic attacks multiple times a day. I completely stopped drinking caffeine and luckily was able to switch my workplace, but it still took years for the panic attacks stop and the anxiety disorder to go away. This was the worst time of my life. Laying in bed not able to sleep because of the fear, that you could die that night and constantly having panic attacks, that feel like how I imagine dying feels like, it's horrible.
It wasn't only caffeine, that led to this situation, but still I would advise everyone, to not take caffeine lightly. Today I can drink small doses of caffeine, but if I drink too much, I sometimes get small panic attacks still. That's why I mostly drink decaf coffee most of the time. Just because I miss the taste of coffee.
