I read "Blackhawk Down" before I saw the movie, and there was a section in the back about the political ramifications. Someone from the US State Department related a story of an older Somali woman being asked about the ongoing conflict. "Do you want peace?" "Oh, yes, I pray for it every night." "Would you consider sharing power with your enemies to get peace?" "Oh no, I'd rather die first!" The official explained that this attitude, if pervasive, was going to make it hard to find lasting peace any time soon. Israel/Palestine strikes me as being similar. Maybe the US isn’t far behind.

@Andrew Stevenson- I don't have all the facts by any means but it's not that simple for Israel; every time they leave Gaza and turn their backs, Hamas builds up and attacks 10x worse than the usual daily missile attacks which are rarely reported by intl media. In no way do I diminish suffering on behalf of innocent Palestinians caught in the middle. I just want to say that most Israeli's have no interest in Gaza, we are there b/c there is no choice; the minute you leave hamas alone, you are dead. case in point, the border is down today, hamas entered Israel and we already have several IDF and civilians being held hostage.

In 1967 egypt asked for negotiations , they Refused
In 1971 Saadat requested to recognize Israel in return of Israeli withdrawal from sinai and I think this was sponsored by the UN but israel refused
Which is why isreal agreed after 1973 because of the amount of losses they suffered from the Egyptian army
Plus even Moshe Dayan and Golda Meir do admit that they have lost from Egypt in 1973

    Israel did win this war.
    Yes..
It had to dig deep in order to do so.
And Yes. The price that it paid was heavy.
But Israel did win in 1973.

If you want to talk about religions then its clearly someone else's fault for refusing all negotiations that egypt tried to make with them before resorting to last option. 🥱
