I meanwhile didn't think the fights with Cactus King and Ghastly King as Kong VS Kong battles considering the platformer layout shared with the Hog and Tusk bosses, though then again, they are apes as all the Kongs are (or simians in general considering Diddy Kong as the only major primate Kong we know of along with the monkeys shown in this game), their more monstrous appearance aside. If K.Rool ever returns in a new DK game, it'd be the most epic thing for him and DK to throw punches Joestar/Fist of the North Star style while DK throws him around like he does with Cactus King and Ghastly King here! I'd pay good money for that.
Specially because of their difficulty because the Kongs are gorillas who fight the same way as DK.
Now imagine Donkey Kong delivering punches like in this game to King K. Rool.
Result: One battered and bruised crocodile.

I think what definitely set this game differently than others is its control scheme. For those who don't know in this game you use the DK BONGOS to play this game, and it surprisingly works rather wrll5.

God damn, not only Donkey Kong’s attacks are ridiculously fast in this game, but his headbutt is even faster than a woodpecker.
This game was one of the best games I've ever played
It never ceases to amaze me on how extreme this game made the music for these fights, you fight the first boss and it seems like your on the final phase of the final boss. Don’t even get me started on the other bosses.

The bosses in this game are so cool, this was really unique I wish they would make another DK game like this where you fight bosses with your fists. This game has a different feel than any other Dk game. Donkey Kong is a badass in this game also lol. I also really like the bongos

I like the boss fights with rouge hog, mo hog, bloat hog, and gloat hog most since it's more fun to just "screw using strategy" and simply overwhelm your opponent through sheer ferocity and brute strength. But that's just my preference since sometimes it's better to just say screw it and simply overwhelm your opponent through sheer ferocity and brute strength.
Agreed! If there's one thing I love, it's just going nuts on the enemy, whether it'd be siccing armies of Trolls on enemy armies in Total War: Warhammer with Throgg or the epic Tyranid Swarms at the end of the campaign of DOW 2 Retribution, nothing beats going all out and running over people. In games, I typically like being the big and monstrous characters or the heavyweights like Ridley and K. Rool in Smash or Gigas in Tekken 7.
@@opusmagnus26 nice to know another gamer who favors the art of pummeling an opponent through brute force, when it suits best. Strategy and tactics are fine in all but sometimes it is more fun to simply pummel opponents into submission.

7:32 I love the parallel Between Donkey Kong and Karate Kong here, Donkey Kong is in a battle stance, like an aggressor, and Karate King is just standing there all calm. Its only halfway through the fight that Karate Kong loses his cool.

I remember this one. I used to always only fight Tusks. They were my all time favorite enemies next to Roc. The Kong's were difficult for me since my reaction speed is quite low XD

This was my first donkey kong game, and i'm glad it was. These boss fights were the shit, i also just loved how weird it was with it's enemy design. Not to mention when the boss makes its appearance as a shadow, (fenominal sound design by the way) it really sets the mood for whats gonna go down.
