I miss the old Nintendo where they took more risks or used darker themes in Mario games like when u actually kill Bowser in this game or at the very least melt his skin off. Also Paper Mario ttyd was dark too, in rogue port at the center of rogue port is a noose and that's not even all that's dark with that game. In Mario sunshine, he is framed and goes to jail resulting in community service lol

I like these boss fights more because every enemy is like a genetic mutation of the common enemies you see in other levels. They all have unique attack methods and aren't predictable like the Koopalings are. My favorite fight is the World 6 boss fight with that Monty Mole's tank.

My favorite boss is either the Mole Tank or Lakithunder
The worst part about this is, this was the last 2D Mario game to have a lot of variety in the boss department. Heck, I was really hoping Wonder would've had as much boss variety, especially considering how much variety they came up with for the enemies.
the only 2d Mario to have variety in its bosses, people never seem to mention that Mario world and 3 both also used the koopalings. and Mario 1 had bowser 8 times

Mario Wonder really only focused mostly on platforming. There wasn’t a whole lot of bosses there, if I were to be honest. Definitely some missed potential!!!
As varied as the bosses are they were still pathetically easy for the most part.

Its my favorite 2d mario game because it was my first one. But my real favorites are 64 ds, galaxy 1 and 2
My first video game ever. So many memories.
What I love about the castle bosses is that they're all so fucking pissed, they're all out for blood and so you get stuff like Lakithunder straight up tossing spinies instead of just dropping them or the Month tank going apeshit everytime you hit the mole. Even Bowser gets more aggresive when you beat Jr., that's a nice touch.
The Bowser one is just him being a dad. You'd probably be out for blood if your only biological kid was beaten up.
The moment you finally release that the storm cloud that attacked the castle at the start of the game was Lakithunder all along
NSMB was my first game ever, and an absolutely enormous part of my childhood and who I am today... If it wasn't for this game, I wouldn't be who I am today, nor would I have explored the entirety of the Mario franchise!
Wonder is a great game
But this was and STILL IS peak boss battle
That’s what irked me about Wonder, easily some of the best platforming and creative level designs in the series but I was woefully underwhelmed by the lack of original bosses, save for Bowser at the end. But that’s why NSMB DS stands out with its original bosses, and it felt like the wonder mechanic could’ve been used to creative effect with adding twists on boss fights.
Except for bowser jr he Fuckin stinks in this game

Mario jumps a bit higher when he has a running start (which is actually a mechanic that is taken into consideration for the stage design of some of the harder Mario games like Lost Levels), and Bowser's hitbox becomes a bit smaller when he lands from a jump.

It's amazing how Bowser learns to adapt and change by removing the lava and there being no lift during the rematch as Dry Bowser, and even bring along Bowser Jr. as more support and weaponry against Mario,
and somehow NEVER remove or make a box around that damn switch.
This game had so many creative and original bosses. Why couldn't NSMB U Deluxe be like this.

Different between world 1 Bowser/ World 8 final bowser.
World 1: When you get damaged, you can though Bowser before invisible effect over. Like old super mario bros.
World 8: You won't be able use this method because you'll be bumped backward by now powerful Bowser(Like later new super mario bros wii and wii u)

You can , the game counts mini ground pounds as damage to this boss even if you'd normally need normal ground pounds to beat him
You can just step on the giant Goomba and then you can grab Mega Goomba by the leg and then slam him into the ground until he dies.

This was the game that got me hooked on Nintendo. But not before Mario Kart DS, because I wanted to know who everyone was.
Honesty its crazy to think the first nsmb game was so creative with its boss line up and gymmics.......then wii expexanded on this by bringing back the koopalings after years of absence and having even more wacky levels ....but everything after was just a copy paste of wii with the occasional new power up being the only truly new thing about the game

I wish NSMB Wii, 2, and U were more creative with their boss fights like DS. I mean sure, Bowser Jr. is the boss in every tower, but still. In Wii, the koopalings are the boss in both the tower AND the castle, which I guess is kinda fine. In 2, the tower bosses are dumb af since you you just hit blocks to knock off those dinosaur things, and in U, it's just Boom Boom but...OH! HE CAN FLY! OH WAIT...THIS TIME HE CAN JUMP! OH, OH!...Now he can spin :D
