Yes, you are right. As soon as you can explain something to another person, you have really understood the matter yourself. I am German and learning Italian and Greek. I try to remember words by finding a German word that sounds similar in a way. Of course for me this is a lot easier with Italian vocabulary. Greek words are much more complicated. For example there is κουβάς (pail). And there are the German words Kuh (cow) and waschen (to wash). I imagine that the cow is standing in a pail with water and washes herself. Sounds very complicated but for me it works. Or λαιμός (neck). Leim in German means glue. I imagine that the head is glued to the body. Once I have this "picture" in my head, I won't forget it anymore. This is really an established learning technique, and I try to use it whenever possible. Best regards, Geli

L'italiano è stata la prima lingua straniera che avevo mai appreso, e cerco sempre di integrarla nella mia vita quotidiana (ma ovviamente devo riservare tanto spazio del mio tempo libero al greco ahaha). I know it's gonna sound very specific and no one cares but i just need to thank you for making the audio of this video im a way where i don't hear every single detlail of the sounds your mouth makes (mouth sounds). That's for I'm misophonic (guess how it's written) and it's really hard to find hearable content out there. Forever thank you for making my greek learning posssible lol

Είναι αλήθεια, και εγώ έχω παρατηρήσει ότι είναι πιο εύκολο να μάθεις και να θυμάσαι κάτι όταν προσπαθείς να το εξηγήσεις σε κάποιον. Επίσης, καταλαβαίνεις καλύτερα πώς λειτουργεί, γιατί δεν μπορείς να το εξηγήσεις απλά επαναλαμβάνοντας, πρέπει να το σκεφτείς και να αναζητήσεις αναλογίες. Εγώ γενικά είμαι πολύ ανοργάνωτος όταν μαθαίνω και όταν κάνω οτιδήποτε, δεν ακολουθώ ιδιαίτερες τεχνικές 😅
Fantastic video. May I point out one small, tiny mistake? The spelling of the word "truly" in English has only one "L" in it, not two. I am not being critical, your videos are wonderful! But as a language fanatic, I thought you might appreciate the correct spelling? Best wishes.😊

It's my soul, my whole being picks up on sounds that connect to something in me, such as the word "ταυτοτητα. και περιβαλλον" I love to say these words because they sound like a whole poem or a story just in one word. Both are not often in my readings and I don't often use them, but I can remember them just like that. Other Greek words do not ignite this fire in me and so I struggle with the sound combinations. Do you think our connection to certain sounds in languages is from birth or developed. There are many other Greek words I love to say like "ονειροπαγìδες" and yet I struggle with some of the simplest, but they do not resonate as music to me, such as "ανησυσώ." I would love for you to discuss this more with us. I truly believe it is something holistic/organic about the experience of learning another language as if we are speaking from a past life. I love to follow you because you are a deep thinker like me and you teach us the soul of the word, not just the sound. Another video please.😍
