Discord Support Scammers Reported Me...

- These scammers on Discord evolved. From steam scammers to Discord scammers. But does this change come with any new tricks or is it the same scam in a different coat of paint?
Well, there are some changes. And unfortunately that's enough where people still fall for this Discord scam. And these scammers will eventually be more prevalent than steam scammers because they can contact everyone, not just people with a linked Steam account. So make sure to turn DMs off from Discord servers and keep your eyes peeled for this Discord scam.

If you know about Steam Support scams (e.g. "I accidentally reported you"), then this is pretty much the same thing minus Steam
yeah
i literally messed around some of that idiots time for like an hour and a half
Yep, got hijacked because of that one. One of my friends at the time told me not to give the guy 20 dollars to get the account back, had to search around and there's a way to lock your account after it's been hijacked. I was able to find a steam guide called 'how to recover your account' by someone named ★ Lumi ★ and it got the account locked until I could get back in :)
Someone did this, on a french server… and he started in english
Yea i fell for this good thing i forgot my password and my dad came save the day (i was kid)
fun fact: discord support was scammed more times than it did scam others
Fun fact: this scam and the Nigerian prince scam are actually known as the Spanish prisoner scam. It has been around since before the Industrial Revolution. Look it up on Google.
Finally an actual fun fact.

I remember the time I got a scam report on my steam account.
I took the liberty to say that I do not own the account. After asking for things for a while, the conversation started derailing towards wanting to speak to the *real* owner of the account. They got very rude towards me since I was allegedly not the owner of the account, and the lines they used was funny. "I don't care about you man, Im here for the owner" and "Are you a teacher?"
I forwarded them to my alt and continued to just stall with silly questions.
yeah like a month ago a friend of mine was hacked and I got that "accidentally reported you on steam" message. I learned how to navigate the web safely and recognize scams when I was 9 years old, ain't no way I'm falling for that. next time that happens I'll just reply with "skill issue" and block them
ah, same as me in a a way, one person sended me a photoshopped screenshot of my steam account and it contained my recent purcheses, there was a 5k purchase on a csgo knife(i was banned loooool). I ended up getting scammed cus idk how foolish i was and 2-3 days later steam sent me an email recovering my account and creating a 20 character password lmaooo
Yeah actual steam support is very good and direct. I once got my shit hijacked stupidly from a phishing site very early on in all that nonsense before it was common.. After it happens once your smarter typically. All they did too was try to Idle items on CSGO with an account full of games. lol anyway steam support with some proof gave it back to me after a day or 2.. The shitty par is they spam all your friends the the same links and luckily nobody else clicked them.
Ive helped a few people after the situation because I knew what to do.. Steam legally asserts they don't do this but they will, I guess its to keep people from trying to use support to hijack.
I have had that happen too
I had one of these scammers too. He tried to get me to DM a specific person, but when I suggested to make a group chat with all 3 the dude was saying that it's not possible. Then I asked, "why doesn't he message me directly?" Again, same response. The scammer was saying a cheated him out of money on steam. ***Since when tf do you meet up to make transactions on steam marketplace?***
The first mistake of the scam is saying you'll get IP banned when Discord don't even have IP ban. F to the people who fell for this.
Proof?
They actually do. Cloudflare can IP ban you.
@@malwarehub2198 i mean proof that discord doesnt have ip ban
@@David280GGdiscord DOES have IP ban, they just rarely use it.
Server bans where/are IP bans. A Friend banned me from his Server and I could not join the Server with my alt. Or new Accounts created in a different Browser, so no cookies or fingerprinting.
After he unbanned I could join with all Accounts.
The whole thing falls apart when you consider that if any corporate business thinks you're breaking TOS, they'll just suspend you with a "sorry not sorry" email. They won't ever make you plead your case unless you open up a support ticket after the fact.
The moment it went to "I acededantly reported your account" I instantly had flashbacks to the steam account scam.
my friend got the steam scam and today i got it on discord from one of my friends, i block the mand reported them but i changed the passwords and such to be safe

My best friend got one of those "I reported your Steam accout" messages once and he decided to troll and waste their time. He was instructed to message a different person and so he took his second account to make it look like the account he was supposed to contact and messaged "oh yeah everything is resolved" from there and sent a screenshot of that conversation to the scammer lol
working for discord AND valve at the same time must be super hectic. imagine getting thousands of user reports from discord and millions of "please help, my TF2 chat doesnt work but i spent enough money" reports every day
Someone i know irl actually fell for this type of scam earlier this week. I'm honestly sort of baffled that some people genuinely do fall for this. Its not like they're a kid either, they a full grown IT major ;;
take away the major. they dont deserve it at that point, just saying.
They used AI to get that 💀
Emotions are very irrational thing and scammers take advantage of it. Also, if someone’s less than sober, makes it easier for them to fall for those things. So please TF don’t judge.
My gf nearly fell for this scam on steam a while back. It took me a while trying to explain that it was probably a scam because no report system would work like that, before I gave up and googled it, reading out a script that almost perfectly mirrored what the guy was telling her.
Anyhow, point being she is very trusting, and is most familiar with the 'he said, she said' model of moderation. So I wonder if a part of why people fall for this is just that they're of that same era, where half a dozen mods could run the largest forums on such a basis.
Interesting thought. I think back to games like Runescape where the player mods and even the official Jagex mods were just normal people walking around in-game and talking in chat. You’re probably on to something - familiarity with that style of moderation could lead someone that isn’t very computer-savvy with the modern era of support to believe that someone might just PM you with official business.
I’ve never considered that before, very interesting thought!
I fell for this yesterday. This is partially my fault because i thought this was real and not some sort of fake account. When me and my friends did research we realized that this was a scammer. Thank god for business and retail classes
I fell for this today, but I got all the info of the guy, multiple screenshots and username evidence to prove my case and hopefully get my account email put back into the email of my account, and get my account back by getting the guy who compromised my account locked out.
@@RisumiesNewGen did u get it back? discord support still isnt responding me

I did fall for this, luckily I gained common sense when they asked for $100, shockingly enough they said sorry when I told them they were a scam and was willing to give me the account if I gave them the money (I still don't think they're sorry, though) instead of a corporate manager or something though it was a person pretending to be a bot. I reported this to discord asking for my email to be reverted, still haven't gotten an answer.

Did not think the scammers could evolve. Guess this scam works better for them since they don't have to scrounge for an attached steam account.
18 hours of talking to this scammer and they finally gave up. Some of them these days will not stop 'till they get your money or steal your account. Some highlights from this *fun* activity was from the scammer: "Ma'am are you on something?" and "Just change the god damn email already or your account will be deleted" in which I responded: "Nah I'm good, I think I need a new account anyway" so they said "Fk off" and blocked me. Around an hour after this came out, my friend said: "Hey Bro, Watch this NTTS video" and that led me to this video, less than 4 hours later another friend messages me with this same scam. I said to them: "Why should I contact discord support?" then they responded: "Youll get ur account daledted if u don't", I then went to correct them and say: "I'm all good bro, this account is getting pretty old anyways". Great vid bro!!! I emailed the email some weird stuff and reported them! Cya!
Thanks for posting this! A friend of mine got their account hacked and their account tried this scam on me. I clicked the e-mail message and immediately noticed the word salad...which was EXACTLY how this "friend" was talking to me and I said "This e-mail is fake. The grammar is terrible. No company would write this way." and blocked them.
I was then a smidge worried that just opening the image in my browser might have given me malware so I Googled for more info about the scam and found this! PHEW! Thank goodness. I completely missed the "add Mike as a friend" part. That and I missed them when they first sent me the scam and they got back to me the next day so the "YOU ONLY HAVE 24 HOURS!!!" thing also tipped me off because it has been more than 24 hours.
Anyway, thanks for the info on the latest scams.
EDIT: Oh and why do people fall for these scams? Add "English is not their first language" to the list. I DO have one actual friend who kinda talks like these scammers, which made me believe the scammer's word salad but NOT the E-Mail's word salad.
I almost fell for this steam scam 3 months ago. The red flags in the convo were that I sold a $1500 CS-GO skin on Steam Market place. If I had that sorta money I wouldn't even be playing CS-GO in the first place. 😂

i just got this while talking to mike lmao, im definitely dumb, so thank you for posting this.
I feel listened to and validated, thank you for warning users not to share their backup codes.
The reason why most of them use code blocks is so that when you report the message it will not be the same as reporting a nomal one. So most of the cases the discord staff will assume it's nothing too bizare so they (most of the time) will do nothing about it. For example you can see when Mike sent the first message, and then when he sent the second one (which was the scam part) he wrote it in codeblocks.
This makes no sense

A. I have to do it since they could just file another report or reach out to the support team they were already talking to
B. How the person being reported is a lot less trustworthy in this scenario than the person who originally reported them.
As one of the people who fell for this there’s also some additional stuff you to put in to play with this.
They not only want to hack your account but they also wanna get money out of you whether it’s using PayPal or Venmo along with your name and you logging into their account which could possibly expose your IP address.
To anybody who fell for this take immediate action.

Seeing the scapegoat DM about the account being reported hit hard for me. I lost my original Steam account to those impersonating dicks. I long for the day I get a DM again so I can bait them.
The reason they use code blocks is most likely because discord scans messages for scams and spam.
And? Code blocks aren't magic. Discord can scan the text in them too.
Well as far as I know, discord hasn't actually specified whether or not they do. It still seems like the most logical thing, I couldn't think of another reason
@@YoikySploiker Right but my point was that *even if* discord does scan messages, there is precisely nothing special about code blocks that would make them invisible to discord's scans. So your claim that this is the "most likely" reason is just overconfident nonsense that is clearly false if you think about it for more than two seconds.
@@MeOnStuff Yeah you're right, I just woke up so I probs am spouting nonsense
Throwing my two cents in here - they most likely use it because it’s strange looking and stands out, especially if you’re not a programmer or don’t know what code blocks are. It also looks a little bit official by the way it’s in monospaced font - like the text is coming directly from some developer’s console somewhere. At least as far as a basic subconscious connection might go anyways.
Basically I think they’re counting on certain people seeing the code block text and confusing it for some kind of official or important message. And I bet that works to a degree - if you’re trying to determine whether or not something is sketchy, something like that might be all you need for your brain to go “okay, this is probably normal enough, I can stop thinking about this now”

its ok if you don't have a discord kitten like other mod, being severely overweight and covered in cheeto dust is already a good achievement
pat pat

@@isaacagain OwO?

This "scam" hurts to watch. 😂
A naked man fears no pickpocket.
I lost my steam account to a scam like this a couple months ago, it's sad that it made it's way to discord.
I got that steam scam a while ago, and lost about 60$ because I didn't know it was a scam until after. Had me crying. Make sure to always look up anything involving money and reports
i got that steam scam 3 years ago and i lost 300 dollars worth of tf2 items and i just got my steam account back recently
I guess you are one of those skibbidy toilet kids huh? easist scam to avoid known to man lmao
i'm sorry that happened
I feel bad for falling for one of these when I was younger
eh smoothbrain crotchgoblins get a free pass on things like this,
Epic brain failure. Laugh at this user 😂
(can't post gifs so just imagine something funny under that caption)
its only bad if you were above 11 years of age
@@triplezero1337 that's oddly specific
@@_GhostMiner im just saying it may be easier for younger kids to fall for one of these.
I LITRALY GOT THIS TODAY I WAS FOLLOWING ALONG BUT THEN I REALIZED THEY DIDNT HAVE A BADGE SO I CHECKED YOUR CHANNEL FOR SMT LIKE THIS
THX SOOOO MUCH
almost got this scam happening to me today, the guy blocked me instantly so i knew it was a scam, then i searched more into it and found this, thank you ! :D
Discord support in and of itself is a scam.
I recently fell for this scam. Swindled $700 out of me and I feel guilty that I didn't catch the signs. Now I probably won't be able to get my mom anything for Christmas...
Currently wasting their time now. Thanks for the video!
Discord support is so bad that even they started scamming.
This guy online is claiming to be my nigerian uncle whom is a prince and is gonna give me €500 if i give him $1000, should i? Seems like a win to me
Now you made me consider turning on my DMs again, just to waste the scammers time
this thing happened to me right now. Thank you
I got scammed/ripped off by discord in general.......I was in a somewhat peaceful server we banned the occasional trash and kept it pretty well maintained.
Someone who didn't like a conversation that was going on decided instead of ignoring the person that annoyed them they decided instead to annoy us the mod/admin team....after telling them to right click and ignore those he doesn't agree with multiple friggin times he ignored us and kept pinging us so we took away his privs and timed him out for a bit, when he came back we said if you can promise to be a good little boy you can come back out to the playground with the big kiddos and play again...the dude whined all over again so we just banned him....
Fast forward he was making threats to mass report the server etc made it clear that if he did we were screwed because discord wont properly investigate the claims.....well he was right he used a python script he modified from another youtuber that was used to mess with scammers filling out scam forms and mass reported us.....the bad part of all of this is discord had the reports in about a week before myself and about 45 other people that I have been able to confirm that paid for nitro..I am pretty sure there was more that paid for nitro I just haven't been able to get back in contact with them since the mass ban.....But the day we all paid for nitro discord perma banned the community....so in a way they scammed us they had the reports and were planning to mass ban that just waited to commit an act of fraud first.
I reached out 5 times to discord and I kept getting the same generic message "the first email sent to you details why this is happening" I demanded multiple times for them to PROVE to me which they have to do that I violated the TOS along with about 400 other people they always kept sending the same generic message...
I've been trying to reach out to as many people from that community as possible especially the ones who paid for nitro like myself so we can all band together and push for a federal fraud investigation into discord.
This may sound like a joke to some people but from what I have gathered from my own investigations this is a common practice amongst discord staff admins to wait until payments cycle then mass ban and use the excuse tos violation to try and justify theft and fraud.

Early gang here
Almost fell for this as well - the report number on the video is the same report number that I received! Be aware!
That steam accidental report thing was horrible lol
I nearly fell for this but the thing that made me back out is when they asked me to change my email. That’s when I backed out and block the guy. No staff will ever ask you to change the email.
A prior member of my friend list just confronted me with this type of scam as well, luckily I saw this video already but they seem to have a new account for this "discord support"
