- I restored a playstation 2 that i bought it on Ebay for 2€.
There was another surprise hidden in the playstation!
The description said that it was very dirty, but supposedly worked said the owner, except for the memory card.
The surprise was Need For Speed: Most Wanted (from 2005)
One of my favorite games back then.

Why on earth did some jabroni package that PS2 without at least cleaning the outside of it?
Well, I have to confess that I saw the PS2 on eBay before I bought it. so I knew it was very dirty. the purchase price was € 2 which is approximately $ 2.4. i think that the seller was a little disappointed and sent the ps2 straight away.

What did you use to clean off the memory card slots? On the main menu I can read the memory cards but it's not letting me save anything. It keeps telling me there's nothing in the slots. I don't want to buy a new one because even used they're pretty expensive so hopefully I can get it working. I'm going to try to clean it but if you have any other suggestions I will gladly take them. Please and thank you
Hello Heather, you just need something to degrease the contacts like acetone or washing alcohol.
But always be careful when using these kind of things.
Is the memory cards slot connected with the ribbon cable?

Theres no ribbon cable tho. Mine looks different than the one in the video. I figured it out after i took apart 3 consoles and 3 memory cards and cleaned them. Apparently the $25 Jersey devil game on Ebay wasnt copied correctly. I was able to save another game just not that one. The back of the cd is black and the other one that did save is silver. When the black cd was in the console, it showed up like it was a cd. It had a bunch of the different colored, numbered squares. Thats the problem. I bought it on a guest account cuz i dont really use Ebay like that otherwise I'd send a message to the sellers

So I did the tutorial thank you for the clear instructions! It’s now reading my card but not working for any games. The games say insert card 1, even though it’s inserted and registered in the consoles menu. I tried both an older and brand new memory card. I’ve tried 3 games, all of which I used to save stuff years ago so I don’t think the games are messed up. Don’t care to retrieve any old progress just want to save new. Any suggestions?
the only thing that comes to mind is to check the ribbon cable to see if it is properly seated and possibly check the security card slots for dirt or whether the pins are bent.

For some reason i tend to not believe in many of this videos since it seems they often pre-dirt the devices to pretend that they have done them much better job than they actually do.

I once bought an atari 2600 at a flea market, when I disassembled it became clear why it didn't work. he had half a yogurt in it.
and thats was really nasty stuff.

this was more than 10 years ago. that was the grossest thing so far.
Why does my memory card freezes when it was reading half way thru in the browser? Is there anyway to fix it?

is it a original memory card from sony? otherwise it is possible that it has a lock function/button.
