    Great Video - i had just completed re-foaming my pair of advent baby ii today before I saw this. Coincidentally I had used exactly the same technique as you. No shims, finger working, making sure the cone movement is free continually. My choice of glue was LePage wood glue multi-purpose white glue. I have used it successfully before on other re-foams. It goes on white, but dries to a translucent finish that shows the black of the cone and the foam, and becomes invisible. I went with cheap foam from an aliexpress store. Once I had glued the foam to the cone and it had set and cured, I used a tiny pair of nail scissors to clip a little screw sized piece of the edge of the foam where the screw holes to avoid any possibility of the screw catching and twisting the foam. Probably overkill. The other think I did that you do not include is to replace the capacitors in the crossovers. It was as simple as undoing the 4 screws in the speaker connection, the crossover is on a 2" board behind. It. comes out with the connection in one piece. I got two 3uf NP 250v capacitors from aliexpress for a couple of bucks each. They make a difference, as the existing capacitors are likely to be 30+ years old and far from 100% performance. There is one capacitor only in each crossover.

      Thanks for watching! I made a video replacing the crossover components as well! It made a small difference on my pair, nothing crazy. I ended up passing them along to someone who had been wanting a pair. Thanks for sharing your tips about refoaming these! I appreciate it. -Matt

    Thanks! Just did this to some Baby IIs I got a while back at a garage sale. They sound nice and were 100% worth rescuing.

    If I don't have shims, I run a frequency threw the speaker, while 'Im glueing them up to center it ...

      @Shuksanaudio  Před 10 měsíci +1

      That's a great idea! Both ways work so long as you run the frequency quietly enough that it doesn't move the driver much. Thanks for sharing the info and watching!

      Ayye thanks for noticing! I hunted this one down until I found one I was happy with. It's from a company called "Pact". Unfortunately, they no longer have this color but this is the one: wearpact.com/men/apparel/all%20tops/clearance%20thermal%20waffle%20henley/wb1-mwh-cml?glCountry=US&glCurrency=USD

    Shims for making sure the woofers don't move around too much? How bout so they don't scrape?

    • @Shuksanaudio
      @Shuksanaudio  Před 10 měsíci +1

      I see that as the same thing but I definitely could have been more clear. On a small woofer like this, the spider does a fine job of centering the woofer as long as you apply the new foam how I show in the video. I would use shims on any woofer bigger than 10". Thanks for watching!
