  • A few of you have said you’d like the strap longer, mine was fine at 30” but please measure the length you need before you cut!
Large enough for your mobile phone, a few dog treats, cards or passport but small enough to be discreet or to wear under a jacket! This little bag is lined with inner patch pocket and has an adjustable strap. Feel free to make the strap longer if you need to!
    materials from www.debbieshore...
    You will need:
    38" x 15" [97cm x 38cm] outer fabric [Zebra cotton poplin]
    20" x 14" [51cm x 36cm] lining fabric [red cotton]
    2 x 1" [2.5cm] rectangle rings
    1" [2.5cm] rectangle slider
    magnetic snap
    13" x 20" [33cm x 51cm] fusible fleece [H630]
    Cut:
    30" x 4" [76cm x 10cm] strip of outer fabric for the strap
    two 4" x 4" [10cm x 10xm] pieces outer fabric for the tabs
    2 lining and 2 outer fabric each measuring 6" x 8" [15cm x 20cm] for the front and back
    1 outer and 1 lining fabric each measuring 6" x 6" [15cm x 15cm] for the flap
one outer and one lining piece each measuring 20" x 1.5" [51cm x 4cm] for the gusset
    2 pieces of lining fabric each measuring 6" x 4.5" [10cm x 12cm] for the pocket
Fuse fleece to the front, back and gusset outer pieces

Perfect little bag I can hide inside my jacket when I’m out on my own. I have to use a mobility scooter so always feel vulnerable with my bag on show. Thank you Debbie for yet another wonderful little but very practical make.

Just made this bag and it’s great. I found the strap too short for me as a cross body bag so I added an additional 15” and it’s now spot on. I do like the way you finish your projects - neat and professional. I have several dog walking friends who will be getting one of these for birthdays/ Christmas. Thank you so much for all your excellent tutorials. They really are the best out there. 👍

I too have just finished this bag and found the extra long strap I used was still too short for a cross-body bag. Next one will be even longer.

Made this sweet little bag today. Used quilt cotton in a rust color that featured black butterflies. Used that as front, back and underside of flap. Used a sparkly black cotton for gussets, top of flap, tabs and strap. I did make the gusset about a half inch wider and had no issues with the slight change. Went together well and was fun to make. Thanks for another great bag🤗👍🏽

I learned a new technique on sewing the ends of a strap. I would never have thought to turn the fabric the same way. I havecalways tucked the ends when sewin a long strap or tube like strip. I will use this technique from now on. I can see how it will make the end more even.

I tried making my bag in faux leather, but I found that it was impossible to topstitch over the tabs for the straps , even with a walking foot, and sewing on the long strap (not long enough!) was also difficult because there are too many layers of fabric. I have a little bag that I can use though, and I've learned a lot about faux leather! The next bag will be in recycled denim - nice and easy! Thanks Debbie for the instructions!

Vielen Dank 😊🙏

I can't imagine how the strap can fit you cross body, 30" just goes over one shoulder and is almost right under my armpit! I have had to add a further 20" and that really doesn't give enough to make use of a slider. Other than that I love this pattern. 🙂
