  • Non-fiction LitRPG is essentially collaborative storytelling genre of all the virtual avatars/characters in certain multiplayer gameworld, funneling them into a readable novel or a watchable movie. It builds on the idea of RPG-replay in a more technological, large-scaled way.

Outstanding video. You really get to the heart of what makes NWN special.

Great Videos by the way LARPushka This concept is very similar to Machinima. Also, have you heard of the game "Wildermyth"? It is an interesting, kind of "Self-Writting" RPG that's coming out.

Some very interesting concepts here. With regard to permadeath, I would have thought it ought to be more common in computer adaptations, as it's inclusion is not so surprising of an aspect - considering it was certainly present in the long ago table top sessions from youth. So I don't see why it wouldn't be more common in computer based RPG worlds. I also liked the important distinction you are making here between fiction based on typical singular authors vs instead recapturing the stories formed by what is essentially a type of "surrogate lifescape". I also never liked when a DM would veer to contort sessions to conform to predetermined story lines. I always appreciated the unpredictable turn of story events based on the PCs. It's a shame that new tech hasn't been fashioned to propel the NWN model to use more modern tooling and power, unless of course people are appreciating being sentimental in sticking with the old system's charm. These topics seem to me to be very niche (which is cool). Are there other people out there also creating informational videos on this particular subject? Or are you such an original thinker expanding upon them? :) Also with regard to the more technical aspects of the video... I appreciated the fun assets you chose, and of course your consistent sense of humor! :D

I enjoyed reading your reply, it shows you have an in depth understanding of the subject at hand :) that must mean I'm doing a decent job explaining it too *pets self on the head* .. to answer your questions - I believe I'm the only niche channel for that in terms of trying to put into categories/definitions such hardcore/immersive role-playing ideas. I think that if someone would've produced such videos to an extensive level of popularity we would've had permadeath gameworlds. I really feel like we're missing out, so whether it inspires some game developers or at least just raises the collective consciousness of some gamers, I've done my job :)
And yea there's a constant whine about the fact that there's no proper modern successor to NWN still!
Permadeath - ohhh I would've answered you but I have a lot to say about that. :) My next video is a comprehensive overview about permadeath with focus on permadeath in RP worlds, you'll see my answer there^^
PS I like the term "surrogate lifescape" :)

@@Larpushka Re: Surrogate Lifescape... Yes I came up with that term on the spot just for you ;) ( since you appreciate literaryisms .) Looking fwd to your next video! :)

13:47 Red Dead Redemption 2! That is one BRILLIANT Game and made with 100's of Millions of Dollars. If you were able to get a team of players and DM's though, you could put together what you are looking to do (Similar to the Online Tabletop you see here on CZcams and Twitch)

True! I'm very impressed in what they were able to accomplish in Wild West RP, will even talk about that in my next video

I'm really enjoying this series of your videos. I'm hoping to use them to introduce people to friends who just don't understand Neverwinter Nights. Keep up the great work

Your videos are really making me want to join a game like this! Do you know how a newbie could get started?

Something like Haze doesn't exist anymore unfortunately, t'was definitely special in a whole different level :) They tried to recreate it a couple of times but the NWN playerbase has become so diluted through the years that they couldn't get enough players to keep it kicking... but stay tuned, its spirit lives on, I got a couple of more videos on that topic coming up that I think you'll enjoy and should something like that rise again, I'ma make sure y'all know about it.

Hi Larpushka I love the videos that your doing.
I also seen where you had posted the following " My dream is to one day make a low-fantasy hardcore survival role-play server"
Would you be interested in joining a team of writers for a new NWN server that is in the works? We could always use more people who would like to write good stories with interesting NPC's. We plan on having live DM events, some of which will change the world. We want to create an interactive, living, breathing, world for the players.
I don't want to seem like I'm trying to use your channel to promote our project so I wont post any links to it here. But I would love to talk with you if you wouldn't mind. My email is tondenockay@gmail.com
Thanks for your time and I hope to hear from you.

I was actually on a team just recently but just did not have time to properly contribute. My passion is in making RP-related videos at this point and it's taking all the free time I have left, so unfortunately I have to decline, but thanks for the offer and fair winds be unto ye and your server! :)
